A cloud of white powder erupted into the air.
Garrett was shocked, exclaiming, “Alice! What the hell are you doing?!” Even a rich kid like him, who had seen a lot, had never encountered a woman charging at him with a fire extinguisher!
After extinguishing the candles, I said impatiently, “I don’t like you, and I don’t want to see this childish nonsense outside my school.” My period was about to start, I was already in a bad mood, and now someone had to come up to me.
“Alice, you’re kind of interesting. I actually like you; you’ve got some personality!” Garrett said.
I turned and aimed the extinguisher at Garrett, who sputtered in outrage. His entourage scrambled to protect him. I tossed the extinguisher to the ground, my demeanor icy.”Don’t mess with me.”
I didn’t want to be bothered by a spoiled rich kid like Garrett right before exams. It would waste valuable study
time.
Chloe stepped forward, like a pristine, delicate flower.”Alice, how can you treat Garrett like that? He likes you, and he confessed in front of everyone. Even if you don’t like him, you shouldn’t hurt his feelings like that!”
I glared.”Mind your own damn business! Get lost!”
Chloe looked surprised, probably not expecting the usually aloof me to lose my temper.
I brushed off the extinguisher powder, the smell was unpleasant.
Since my conversation with my brother yesterday at the restaurant, I had been holding back my emotions, and it was becoming hard to contain.
As I turned to leave, Garrett, feeling humiliated, shouted, “Alice, get back here! Who do you think you are?”
I didn’t even look back, acting all high and mighty!
Garrett, felt embarrassed and angrily said, “What are you all standing around for? Get her! She needs to learn a
lesson!”
Chloe stood by, watching the drama unfold with a cold smirk.
I was such a fool for rejecting Garrett; I had no idea what I was getting into.
I was in for a rough time after crossing him!
She secretly hoped I would be affected and fail my college entrance exams.
“I dare anyone to touch her!” Luke ran over from across the street, his face dark with anger.
I froze, remembering Luke’s text from the night before, asking me to meet at the coffee shop across from the school. I’d deleted it and ignored him; I wasn’t planning to go. Yet, here he was.
Luke glared at Garrett.”You little punk, you dare to go after my sister? Did you ask her six brothers for permission?”

Garrett sneered.”But she sprayed me with a fire extinguisher! What about that?”
“I saw it clearly! You harassed my sister first, and she used the extinguisher to prevent your candles from starting a fire! It was completely justified!”

Luke continued, “Even if you have backing, this is New York. If you want to stay here peacefully, it’s best not to stir up trouble!”
Garrett’s face turned red.”Say that again!”
Chloe stepped in, “Luke, it wasn’t entirely Garrett’s fault. Alice could’ve just rejected him. But using a fire extinguisher was a bit much, don’t you think?”
Garrett seized the opportunity. “Exactly! With my popularity, why would I waste my time on someone like Alice with that attitude?”
Luke frowned at Chloe, disliking her words. I was being harassed, but Chloe was still trying to give the other guy the benefit of the doubt?
Luke snapped, “I don’t want to waste my time with you, kid. Next time, I’ll talk to your parents!”
Grabbing my wrist, he said, “Let’s go.”
I tried to pull away, but Luke pulled me into the car.
Chloe ran after us.”Luke, are you mad at me? I didn’t want a fight. Garrett’s family is powerful in Washington, and a confrontation would create problems for Ethan.”
Luke had been angry, but Chloe mentioning Ethan calmed him.”If Ethan finds out this kid harassed Alice, he’ll make things very difficult for the Yates family.”
Chloe felt a bit uncomfortable, realizing the difference in treatment between her and me. And why was Luke
here?
“Luke, you’ve been so busy lately, what brings you here?”
Luke glanced at me, who was staring out the window, seemingly ignoring them. He felt a pang of frustration but quickly composed himself. He was here to make amends.
“I just wanted to check on you guys,” he said.
Chloe noticed Luke’s gaze on me and guessed he was there for a reason, probably because the team hadn’t found a suitable player yet.
I was not in a good mood as I watched the cars outside. When I came to my senses, I realized we weren’t heading home but had stopped at the training base. I saw posters for the “Landing” e-sports team and promotional photos.
I didn’t expect to come here. After I got out of the car, a crowd rushed out and surrounded me.
“Welcome to the team, Goddess!”
“Alice, can you sign this for me?”

I frowned. I hadn’t agreed to join the team.
Luke stepped forward.”Alright, everyone, easy on my sister. Let’s eat.”
I was pushed into the cafeteria of the training base by the crowd.
Chloe watched this scene, struggling to maintain her expression.
Luke noticed and whispered, “Chloe, you know the situation with my team. We haven’t found a suitable marksman and Alice’s perfect. That’s why I came to apologize.”

“Luke, I know. I’m sorry for what happened, I’ll apologize to Alice and make it up to her. If we all work together on the team, I can support you all with the administrative work.”
Chloe’s obedient demeanor relieved Luke.. He knew she wasn’t petty like me, who had a bad temper.
But once Luke left, Chloe’s smile faded instantly, quickly returning to normal as she walked forward with
everyone.
I was led into the cafeteria, where a banner read:”Welcome Alice to the team!”
That was when I realized what was up. I texted Jack:”Can you pick me up? [address]”
Luke approached, looking a bit awkward. “I know I was wrong during the revival match; I shouldn’t have acted so impulsively. After reflecting on it, I really regret it. Today, in front of everyone, I formally apologize to you, hoping you can forgive me.”
I stared at the banner, a cynical smirk playing on my lips.
Some people just needed to be taught a lesson.
