Seven Regrets 36

Seven Regrets 36

Chapter 36

I raised an eyebrow, my gaze sharp and defiant.”I remember it clearly,” I said. I would never forget.

I shut the door, not wanting to say anything more.

Noah stood outside, looking at the necklace, regretting what he had just said. But my words had indeed been intentional. I was smart enough to understand his meaning; was I still angry?

Noah stared at the closed door:”Alice, what am I supposed to do with you?”

My mood soured. I shouldn’t have held onto any false hopes, thinking my brothers would have a change of heart and regret their actions! I had underestimated Chloe’s position in my second brother’s heart. After all, Noah was moved to tears just seeing Chloe make a bowl of plain porridge. All my years of effort in making medicinal dishes felt worthless in comparison.

I would reclaim my contributions. I wouldn’t join Luke’s team, I wouldn’t make medicinal porridge for Noah, and I wouldn’t fix Ethan’s firewall security issues. I would withdraw my support from Alex, Caleb, and Finn as well.

When I opened the gaming forum, I found my post from a few days ago titled “Beginner’s Guide on How to Achieve a Twelve-Hit Combo” had gone viral. Many people had saved it, but there were also plenty of comments mocking me for being arrogant.

I didn’t bother to argue; I had summarized my experiences based on what that previous person had said.

I received a private message. When I saw the sender’s profile, it turned out to be Luke’s account. “Hey, remember

when stole

you

boss last time?”

my

Of course, I remembered; it was intentional.

I didn’t reply.

He sent another message:”How about considering joining a professional team? The benefits are good. I’m impressed with your skills, and joining the team would provide professional training!”

As I read this message, I found it ironic. Luke had finally come to terms with reality, realizing Chloe was unreliable, and was now looking for new recruits since he knew I wouldn’t join the competition?

I flatly rejected:”I refuse.”

After replying, I logged off.

Luke stared at those words, his mind flashing back to my face. Every time I rejected him, it was always those same words.

Luke closed his computer in frustration, feeling stifled because of me. He was even kicked out to live elsewhere because of me, and it felt so unfair!

He regretted hitting me on the day of the revival match. But he couldn’t swallow his pride; he was used to me always being the one to appease him.

Time flew by, and it was the last mock exam.

I felt confident during the exam, thinking it went pretty well. I submitted my paper early and stepped outside to get some fresh air.

When I returned to the classroom, I saw Chloe crying at her desk, and her minions were nowhere to be found.

“Chloe, don’t cry. We believe you didn’t cheat.”

“The teacher will investigate.”

“You don’t need to cheat; your grades are always good.”

Hearing these conversations, I guessed what happened. I’d always suspected Chloe of faking her grades, especially since Minion #1’s grades were surprisingly good.

This hadn’t happened in my past life.

Chloe had probably fell behind in her studies due to gaming and had to take risks to maintain a good ranking.

In my past life, Chloe had failed spectacularly on the college entrance exam. I, however, had done very well. Chloe made excuses, claiming I had affected her mood, causing her to perform poorly. I was then pressured by my brothers to attend the same university as Chloe, which was seen as compensation for affecting Chloe’s grades.

What kind of logic was that?

But in my past life, I hadn’t dared to oppose my brothers’ demands and had to agree.

Minion #1 burst in, confronting Chloe. “You were the one who wanted to cheat; why am I the one getting punished?”

Chloe, tears streaming down her face, replied, “I didn’t cheat! Why are you slandering me? You wrote that note yourself!”

“It was you! Why don’t you admit it? We’re friends! Why would you betray me?” Minion #1 was frantic; the punishment would affect her college entrance exam.

Chloe, however, wore an innocent expression, and the people around began to blame Minion #1 for slandering

her.

Inside, Chloe was completely calm; she knew she wouldn’t get in trouble.

The teacher and classmates would only believe her words.

Minion #1 looked at me desperately.”I finally understand how you felt. Chloe is a viper, pretending to be a

saint, but she’s a wicked woman!”

I smirked; Minion #1 finally understood.

Minion #1 rushed to me.”You know the truth, right? Chloe’s grades are bad; I’ve been helping her with her homework. We were in the same classroom during the exam; you submitted early and must have seen it. You can testify for me to the teacher!”

I had always been at odds with Chloe, so I must have a way to handle this.

Chloe frowned; I probably didn’t know.

accuse her?”

Minion #1’s face paled. She hadn’t expected this.

I wasn’t a saint; I’d been hurt by these minions in my past time. Now it was time to let Minion #1 experience what I’d endured.

After I said that, Chloe immediately relaxed.

Chloe looked at Minion #1 with a pitiful expression:”Just because we’re close, I can’t let you make mistakes. If you sincerely apologize to the teacher and admit your mistake, I believe they will forgive you this time.”

Minion #2 agreed.”Yeah, you can’t just slander people.”

Minion #1 looked at Minion #2. “Your turn’s coming. You better watch out.”

Minion #2 said uneasily, “What nonsense are you talking? You’re the one who wanted to cheat and got caught; you can’t make Chloe lie for you.”

Minion #1 shouted, “Chloe, I have proof you’ve been cheating! Let’s see how you maintain your perfect student image!”

Chloe’s expression changed instantly.

Was this woman looking for trouble?

The teacher arrived. “Lucy, what proof do you

have?”

“I have evidence on my phone; I’ve been doing Chloe’ homework. During the exam, when I passed her the note, Alice happened to walk by the classroom; she definitely saw it.”

The teacher looked at me.”Did you really see it?”

I thought for a moment; I hadn’t really paid attention, only remembering Chloe looking back. Was this my chance? If I said yes, would Chloe be finished?
