The jet carrying the psychologist landed on the island quickly.

I had followed their flight path, but to avoid raising suspicion, I landed at a nearby city instead. From there, I chartered a boat and slipped toward the island under the cover of night.
According to the latest updates from the staff on the island, whom Linda had contacted, Rosaline was in a very poor emotional state. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have called for my psychologist friend.
I couldn’t shake the anxiety burning in my chest. All I wanted was to get to her before anything bad happened.
Once I reached the island, I came ashore on the far side and made my way toward the villa, carefully avoiding the guards on patrol.
Thanks to Linda’s coordination, one of our insiders had already disabled the villa’s security cameras. That gave me just enough of a window to move undetected, for now.
A house staff led me straight to Rosaline’s room.
Just as I reached the doorway, I heard Rosaline’s low, anguished growl from inside.
Her voice sounded heavy with pain and disappointment, and my heart clenched instantly.
Rosaline’s cry of pain suddenly rang out from behind the door.
Sensing something was terribly wrong, I pushed the door open and immediately saw that the floor beneath Rosaline was stained bright red with blood.
“Rosie-”
I bolted to her side, scooping her into my arms. “What happened? What’s wrong?”
The house staff was so startled she didn’t know what to do.
“Get a doctor! Now!”
I shouted so loudly it echoed through the room. My entire body trembled as I held her, my clothes already soaked in blood.
The staff snapped out of it and ran.
“Just hold on, okay? Help’s coming,” I whispered as I held her.
“What took you so long…?” she sobbed.
Rosaline’s eyes fluttered open, and the moment she saw me, she broke down, clinging to me as tears streamed down her face.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered, swallowing the lump in my throat. “I should’ve come sooner. I should’ve never let this happen to you.”
“Can you get me out of here?” she asked, her bloodstained hand gently brushing my cheek.

“Okay…” Rosaline forced a faint smile, her lips trembling, then her eyes slipped shut as she lost
consciousness.
That was when the doctor finally burst in, breathless. The moment he saw her lying there, blood everywhere, his face went pale.
“What happened? She was fine earlier today-”
“Save the talking and do something!” I snapped.

He immediately told me to help move her to the bed. Once she was settled, he pulled out his stethoscope and started checking her vitals. Then he moved to assess the bleeding.
Right then, Grandpa showed up. He stepped into the room and froze, stunned by the sight before him.
I shot him one cold look, then turned back to Rosaline, ignoring him completely.
I knelt by her side, holding her hand, feeling like my heart was being ripped to pieces.
After a while, the doctor stood up, his hands shaking. “Alpha… Mr. Caden … She … Mrs. Rosaline has had a miscarriage.”
“What?” Grandpa cried out.
I felt the world spin around me.
A miscarriage. Did that mean the child was gone?
“Tell me, how did this happen?” I gritted my teeth, struggling to contain my anger as I looked at the doctor and Grandpa.
“Mrs. Rosaline’s health was already very fragile and not suitable for carrying a pregnancy. Lately, her emotional state has been unstable, putting even more strain on her body. This miscarriage was, unfortunately, inevitable,” the doctor explained nervously.
I gripped Rosaline’s hand tightly, glaring at Grandpa through clenched teeth.
“Why did you do this? She was already weak, and you forced her to stay here and carry the baby. Were you trying to kill her?”
Grandpa wanted to say something, but no words came out of his mouth.
“Well, now it’s done. The child is gone. Is this what you wanted, Grandpa?”
Grandpa looked up at me. “Caden, this isn’t what I wanted.”
“If it weren’t for you, would she be like this?” I fought to keep my anger in check as I stared at the man I once respected most. “I told you before, you can always have another child, but if Rosaline is gone, she’s gone forever. Is this really what you wanted, to torment her like this?”
“No, I didn’t… I just wanted….
“Just what?” I stared coldly at Grandpa. “Alpha, if anything happens to Rosaline, I don’t care about being the heir to the Eclipse Pack. I won’t forgive you.”

“I’m sorry, Caden. This is my fault.” Grandpa sighed, walked to the door, then stopped. “Seeing Rosaline like this hurts me too. I’m sorry. From now on, I won’t interfere with you two anymore.”
