Chapter 817 A Trap Within a Trap
I returned to my office, took out my phone, and posted a lengthy message on Twitter along with a video l had saved.
“Sorry for taking up everyone’s time recently. I didn’t mean to cause trouble. I just hope Ms. Monte stops making up stories about the Eclipse Pack and stops calling some random werewolf the Eclipse Pack’s heir when he clearly isn’t. Ms. Monte, the public deserves the truth, and I do too.”
Next, I uploaded the video from the ice cream shop, proving that the werewolf in the video wasn’t Caden.
Before long, my post started gaining attention. People quickly began siding with me again after seeing the evidence.
Just as I let out a breath and thought I could finally sleep, a new video popped up on the internet.
Its title read, “New Update. Uncovering the Truth.” There were a few still shots from the video, and from the looks of it, the figure in the background seemed to be Juliet.
My eyebrows knit together as I hit play.
Her voice came through loud and clear. She was asking the staff to record a video for her and said she’d pay 100,000 dollars for it.
That big offer instantly caused a stir online.
Juliet worked for my company. Her offering that amount for one video shocked everyone. Naturally, the netizens started guessing why.
“Why would a short video cost that much? Did Rosaline do something illegal and need to cover it up fast?”
More and more people started commenting, casting doubt on me again.
“Ms. Sinclair, please speak up. Why spend so much money on a video? Is there a secret you’re hiding? Or are you trying to shift the blame onto someone else?”
I didn’t expect the ice cream shop’s surveillance footage would get leaked. As rumors spread like wildfire, my head began to pound once more.
People these days are too quick to react; just one video can turn everything upside down again.
And then came yet another video, this one from a coffee shop.
When I tapped on the video, it showed Dayne holding me in his arms. The way we stood together made it seem like we were intimate.
It didn’t take long for people to start making assumptions about my connection with him based on that video.
“Meeting up with Dayne in private while claiming the man in Opaline’s video is also him? That’s quite the contradiction. Is she using him to shift the blame away from Caden?”
The comments grew harsher by the minute, and before long, public opinion had swung back in Daynes favor.
“Looks like Rosaline made a shady deal and then dragged someone else down to take the fall. What a clever
move, so calculated.”
It was only at that moment that I finally understood why Dayne had gotten handsy with me in the cafe.
He planned the whole thing, just so he could capture that moment on camera without me knowing,
The way I appeared in the video, calm and even cooperative, was clearly the result of sneaky editing meant to twist the truth.
exhaled deeply, feeling utterly defeated.
I had fallen right into their trap.
Caden’s POV:
I saw the rumors about Rosaline spreading like wildfire online.
I never expected Opaline and Dayne would go this far. It was obvious they wanted to destroy Rosaline’s reputation.
A small wave of guilt crept in. I’d been preoccupied with Grandpa’s situation and hadn’t checked on Rosaline at all. That left the door wide open for Opaline to strike.
I knew right then that this was something I had to take care of on my own. My mate needed me.
I left the hospital, bringing along two werewolf warriors, and made my way straight to Opaline’s house.
When she opened the door and saw me standing there, her eyes widened in horror. “You… why are you here?”
The werewolf warriors behind me didn’t waste a second. They snapped pictures of her shocked expression.
That would count as proof, too.
If I was really as close to her as the internet claims, then why did she look so terrified the moment we met?
I narrowed my eyes, my voice low and steady. “You’ve been spreading all those lies about me online. Don’t you think I have every right to confront you?” My expression darkened as I motioned to the people behind.
- me.
The two werewolf warriors stepped forward without hesitation and pinned her in place.
Opaline shouted, her voice trembling. “What … what do you think you’re doing? Let me go! I’m pregnant! You can’t treat me like this!”
I ignored her screaming completely, giving a simple wave of my hand. The werewolf warriors stepped forward and dragged her into the car without hesitation.
We reached the hospital not long after.
“What are you planning? Are you going to hurt my child?” Opaline asked, eyes wide with terror.
I remained silent the entire ride, saying nothing as the werewolf warriors escorted her straight to the obstetrics department.
I said calmly, “Doctor, please run a paternity test on the child she’s carrying.”
