Chapter 801 The Consequence of Betrayal
Jack’s POV
Eclipse Pack finally ceased their attacks, giving me a much–needed breather.
But what I’ve realized is this–while the Rampage Pack was under attack, the Stars Pack was secretly earing away at our business from the shadows.
I was stunned. We used to be allies, and now, during my lowest point, Stars Pack dared to stab me in the back.
Watching the numbers on the screen plummet day after day, I was so furious I could’ve shattered my fangs from grinding my teeth.
It was exactly what they say. When someone’s down, everyone piles on.
I never imagined that Rampage Pack would fall this low.
But how did Stars Pack manage to strike so precisely? The assets they went after were the core of our business–highly confidential and tightly protected.
Then it hit me. Lately, Jessica, the heiress of Stars Pack, had been dropping by under all kinds of excuses, staying for hours at a time. I hadn’t thought much of it–I was polite and didn’t chase her off. Now, it seems. she was just laying the groundwork for this ambush.
She must’ve stolen those confidential files.
Rampage Pack was already teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. If Eclipse Pack hadn’t stopped their attacks when they did, we’d probably be gone by now.
Now, with the stock price at rock bottom again, I knew I couldn’t afford to wait any longer. If I hadn’t found another way forward, this company would be done for.
In my desperation, one name floated into my mind–Barnabas.
He had returned my funds untouched just a while ago. Even the front desk at Starplay called him a major investor. I remember regretting not seizing that opportunity to work with him back then.
Now? He might be my only lifeline.
I’d already reached out to others–no one wanted to help. The moment they heard Eclipse Pack was involved, they turned me down flat. No one wanted to be dragged into this.
Which meant, like it or not, Barnabas was my last hope.
Sure, he seemed a bit unreliable on the surface, but at this point, I didn’t have the luxury to be picky. I had to take the risk.
With that, I picked up the phone and dialed his number.
It rang only once before he picked up. “Mr. Horton, finally changed your mind?” Barnabas’s voice held a teasing edge.
I felt a twinge of shame, but there was nothing else I could do. I swallowed my pride and admitted, “I’ve come to my senses.”
Chapter 801. The Consequence of Betrayal
That’s good to hear. I knew you were a smart man,” he chuckled. “So what’s your plan? If you’re ready to work with me, then you already know the terms.
I gave a small nod, even though he couldn’t see me.
I had already looked up the Barnabas project online beforehand, and it definitely required a huge amount of funding. What puzzled me, though, was that since Barnabas was such a major client, why would he need Rampage Pack to step in with the funds?
But I didn’t ask.
Because I no longer had the right to say no.
“I’ll have the funds wired to you right away, Mr. Kingsley. I hope you won’t let me down. The sooner your project goes public, the better for both of us,” I said sincerely.
I desperately needed liquidity to save the company. Business was about risk and return. If I wanted to make money, I had to spend money first.
“Haha, that’s why I like working with someone as straightforward as you,” Barnabas said with a grin in his voice. “I’ll be waiting.”
I hung up and instructed finance to transfer the funds.
Caden’s POV:
Watching the funds transfer out of Jack’s company and into my own account, I couldn’t help but smirk.
So, it turns out he did have a little left in the bank. And that sum? Quite substantial.
I picked up my phone and gave the order. “Initiate the final assault on Rampage Pack.”
With those funds gone, Jack had nothing left to fight back with.
Let’s see how he goes down now.
Rosaline’s POV:
I was in my office when my phone buzzed. The caller ID made me frown–Connor.
I really didn’t want to answer, but after a moment’s hesitation, I picked up.
“Ms. Sinclair,” came his irritatingly smug voice.
“What do you want?” I snapped, not hiding my annoyance.
“Hey now, no need to be so cold.”
Here we go again. I hated his games. The only reason I even picked up was because I didn’t want him messing with Starplay or Eclipse Pack behind my back.
“If you don’t have anything important to say, I’m hanging up.”
“Wait, wait,” he rushed to stop me. “It’s been a while, right? Why don’t we grab a bite? My treat.”
“I have zero interest in eating with you.” I frowned. This guy was seriously annoying.
But he still wouldn’t give up. “Come on, have dinner with me, and I’ll tell you what’s really going on with Jack
