His surgery was over. The bandages were neatly wrapped around his torso, a stark reminder of what had happened. I bit down on my lip, my mind swirling with questions I didn’t have answers for.
I knew how Jasper felt about me. But what now? What was I supposed to do with that knowledge?
The buzzing of my phone broke my thoughts. I glanced down, sccing Naomi’s name flash on the screen.
Naomi asked, “Rosaline, Lilian was taken away by the police. How’s Jasper now?”
I answered, “He just finished surgery. He hasn’t woken up yet.”
I hit send and shut the phone off, letting the silence return. The soft hum of the television filled the room, the flickering images on the screen pulling my attention.
The headline read, “Tragedy strikes The Call of the Wild set. Storm Pack’s heir wa White is in custody. Investigation is still underway.”

The screen flashed an image of Lilian, her face twisted in despair–handcuffed and helpless.
I sighed, my chest tightening, and switched off the TV. The silence felt heavier now.
Wendy’s POV:
I sank into the couch while flicking through channels. My mind restless with thoughts scattering about. My finger hovered over the remote, stopping when a news report caught my eye. The screen flashed a headline about the Call of the Wild set and Lilian being dragged away by the police.
I sat up straight, my breath catching in my throat. My heart slammed against my chest as they pounded. loudly in my ears.
Lilian, that useless fool!
I’d planned to use her, have her deal with Rosaline. But this idiot couldn’t even do that.
Not only did she fail, but she got herself arrested in the process.
I grounded my teeth together, my fists tightening with fury. I slammed my hand down on the couch, the frustration bubbling over.
I shouldn’t have trusted Lilian. As if failing her one job wasn’t bad enough, she got Jasper hurt. This would just put more problems on my plate.
“Wendy, what’s wrong?”
Michael’s voice cut through my anger, snapping me back to reality. I forced a smile, turning toward him,
voice as calm as I could manage. “Nothing. Just lost in a TV show for a second.”

flight for the day after tomorrow, 10 am. The surgeon can take care of that scar on your wrist. It’s not something a girl should have to deal with.”
I stared at the address for a moment, the words blurry my gaze. Finally, I nodded, the decision made. “Okay.”
Two days later, I landed at Spiritas Airport.
As soon as I stepped out of the terminal, I spotted a car waiting. A werewolf in a black suit nodded as I approached. “Ms. Crawford? From the Wild Pack?”
I dragged my suitcase closer, raising an eyebrow at him confusion clear on my face. But I nodded anyway.
“We’re here to take you to the clinic. Mr. Grawford sens. He wants you to go straight to the hospital. Please, get in.”
At the clinic, I was a bundle of nerves. I met the surgeon Michael had arranged for me, and after a quick discussion about my wrist, I was checked into a room.
As I stood by the door, ready to enter, I saw her. A delicate she wolf, with a face like a doll’s, stood at the threshold.
She was still in a hospital gown, as though she’d just recovered. Her eyes widened when she saw me.
“You?”
I froze, confused. I didn’t recognize her.
“Do we know each other?” Lasked, my voice tight.
The werewolf blinked, then gently touched her face, a sheepish smile curling on her lips. “Sorry. I thought you were someone else. A friend of mine looks a lot like you.”
Candice’s POV:
Wendy glanced at me, confusion clouding her features but she nodded and followed the nurse into the room to drop off her things.
I watched them go, a wave of triumph swelling inside me.
She had no idea. The woman standing before her was me–Candice Reese, the princess of Phantom Pack.
I had truly defied death. The fall from that cliff should have ended me. Caden’s wolf had torn through my arm, and the jagged rocks had scarred me; my body a patchwork of wounds. I thought I was finished. But then my brother–Jason Reese, the Phantom Pack’s heir–found me.
Three days. For three days I was unconscious in the hospital. When I finally woke, bandages covered most of my body, my face included. The doctors told me I was lucky to be alive. My arm had been reattached, but its function would never fully return. And my face my once–beautiful face–was unrecognizable.
Jason had no choice but to send me to Hoorn for reconstructive surgery. Each day there was a brutal reminder of my past; the rehab for my arm was a constant agony to go through.
But it had all been worth it. Now, my face was flawless. Perfect. No one would ever recognize me.

1 finished packing up and sank onto the bed, my mind drifting back to the female werewolf I had just met. An odd sense of familiarity clung to me, though I couldn’t quite place where I had seen her before.
She was a stranger, yet there was something about her that felt familiar. Had we crossed paths before?
Just as the werewolf nurse was about to leave, I stopped her. “Wait a second.”
She turned around, her face neutral. “Do you need something?”
1 hesitated, glancing toward the door. “I wanted to ask about the woman I ran into earlier. Who is she?”
“Ah, her.” The nurse smiled politely, her tone professional. “She’s a patient we admitted a few months ago. Her surgery was complicated, but she’s recovering well enough to move around. She’s not ready for discharge just yet, though.
“Oh, and by the way, she’s your roommate. You two will be sharing a room for a while. If everything goes smoothly, she should be discharged soon.”
Thanks,” I muttered, nodding thoughtfully. After thanking her, I lay back down to rest.
Just when I thought I could finally relax, my phone rang a few hours later.
I groaned and sat up, annoyed. Answering the call, I was surprised to hear the Alpha from the Moonveil Pack, Ivor White, on the other end. “Ms. Crawford …
His voice was heavy, laced with exhaustion.
“Mr. Ivor, what’s wrong?” I asked, my tone edged with impatience.
It was clear what this was about–Lilian, of course.
But why should I get involved?
Ivor’s voice wavered, almost pleading. “Ms. Crawford, Lilian has always been close to you. She’s been taken by a werewolf officer … Please, I’m asking you, can you help her? Can you get her out of the werewolf police station?”
“Save Lilian?” I echoed, almost laughing at how ridiculous it sounded. My voice was thick with sarcasm. “Mr. Ivor, I’m sorry, but the last time Lilian hired hackers to steal confidential information from Starplay Entertainment, she ended up in the police station. And you were the one who went to get her out.
“But now? She brought a gun to a movie set, and not only did she fail to kill Rosaline, but she also shot Jasper. Is that not on her? No one forced her to do any of that. Mr. Ivor, Wild Pack isn’t a charity. Get your facts straight.
“Besides, Lilian’s useless. She couldn’t even complete the last task I gave her. Now, she’s back in the police station over a petty grudge. Even if I helped her, what can she give me in return?
“I suggest you save your breath, Mr. Ivor, Begging for help for someone like Lilian won’t do any good. I’m not in the mood to rescue anyone. Let everyone take care of their own mess. Don’t drag Wild Pack into

I froze, shocked.
She got arrested because of Rosaline and Jasper?
Jasper …
The thought of Jasper having feelings for Rosaline made my teeth grind in anger. I was already in this miserable situation because of that Omega, and now, the man I had been obsessed with had been shot because of her. How could I not be furious?
I stood there, fists clenched.
I was planning to deal with Rosaline when I got home, but I didn’t expect her to ruin Jasper like this. She couldn’t blame me if I showed her what real heartbreak felt like.
Lforced myself to breathe deeply, calming the rage building inside me. I managed to put on a polite smile as I stepped into the room.
After Wendy finished speaking and hung up her phone, she turned when she heard my footsteps. Seeing me, she smiled politely. “Oh, it’s you. Just back from your walk?”
I nodded, walking over with a calm expression. Extending my hand, I said, “Yes, about earlier … I’m really sorry. Let’s properly introduce ourselves. I’m Anna.”
“Hello, I’m Wendy,” she replied, shaking my hand politely. As she did, I noticed a scar on her wrist.

It had been five or six days since I started staying with Jasper at the hospital. Every day, I made sure to place fresh flowers and fruit by his bedside, knowing that a pleasant environment could speed up his recovery.
Plus, he needed to regain his strength after waking up.
When news of his gunshot wound spread, his fans rushed to the hospital to visit him, but I made sure to keep them at a distance.
“Ugh…
I was sitting by the bed, peeling an apple, when I heard a soft sound from Jasper’s direction. I looked up and saw his eyelashes fluttering. It was a sign that he might be waking up.
My heart leapt with excitement, and I quickly set the knife down. Without wasting a moment, I pressed the call button.
“Doctor, nurse!”
Moments later, a werewolf doctor and nurse rushed into the room. I stepped aside and told them, “It looks like he’s waking up. Please, check on him.”
They moved swiftly, and soon Jasper’s eyes fluttered open. He was awake.
“He’s awake; that means there are no major concerns at the moment. But we still need to monitor him for a little while longer to ensure he’s resting properly and avoid any complications,” the doctor explained. I nodded in agreement.
Once the doctor left, I exhaled in relief.
The worry that had been hanging over me for the past few days finally lifted. I took Jasper’s hand and smiled at him. “Thank goodness, Jasper. You’re awake…
“Sorry for making you worry.” Jasper smiled back, squeezing my hand gently. His eyes held warmth as he said, “Rosaline, I’m so glad I woke up and saw you. I didn’t expect you to stay by my side and take care of
me.”
“Stop saying that,” I replied, gently adjusting his blanket “You took a bullet for me, so of course I’m going to take care of you.” I reminded him softly, “You’ve just woken up, so don’t move around too much. The doctor said your wound hasn’t fully healed yet. And no solid food for now. You need to stick to liquids to help your stomach recover.”
I kept talking, but Jasper’s eyes were fixed on my face. He occasionally nodded in response, his gaze intense. After I finished, he tightened his grip on my hand and asked earnestly, “Rosaline, everything I said to you before I was admitted is the truth. I know you’re not with anyone right now, and that your engagement with Caden is over. Will you consider being my girlfriend?”
His words caught me off guard, and I wasn’t sure how to answer.
I hadn’t actually ended things with Caden yet, but there were reasons I couldn’t tell Jasper the full truth.

“You just woke up. Focus on getting better first. Once you’re fully healed, we’ll talk about this, okay?”
Caden’s POV:
I stood outside the hospital room, noticing that the door was slightly open. I was about to enter when I overheard Jasper and Rosaline’s conversation.
The bouquet in my hands suddenly felt impossibly heavy..
At first, I had told myself not to overreact and that I was just here to comfort Rosaline. But the first thing Jasper did when he woke up was to try and steal my fiancée?
I couldn’t control my anger. My face grew tense, and I slammed the door open, striding into the room. Without a word, I grabbed Rosaline’s hand and said firmly, “Rosaline, come with me!”
“Caden?” Rosaline’s eyes widened in surprise when she saw me. She tried to pull her wrist away, but I was stronger, and within moments, I had dragged her out of the room.
“Caden, Caden! What are you doing? Let go of me!”
Once we were in the hallway, Rosaline yanked at her wrist, trying to stop me.
I suddenly stopped and turned to face her, my expression cold. Rosaline quickly pulled her hand back, frowning. “Don’t be jealous …
“You’re my girlfriend!”
“1
Frustration boiled inside me. I couldn’t understand why Jasper wouldn’t leave Rosaline alone, or why she kept distancing herself from him while keeping me–her actual fiancé–at arm’s length.
Even though we weren’t officially engaged right now, I was certain she would be mine soon.
I pulled her into my arms, holding her tight, and kissed her passionately without hesitation.
Rosaline’s POV:
Caden’s kiss was overwhelming, and I felt dizzy from the intensity. My feet lifted slightly as I instinctively wrapped my arms around his neck.
The kiss was filled with longing, desire, and an undeniable sense of possessiveness.
There weren’t many people in the hospital corridor at that time, but a few curious children glanced over before being hurried away by their parents.
After what seemed like an eternity, Caden finally pulled back. His hand slid slowly from my back, and he leaned in close, his voice low and filled with emotion. “I can’t help but be jealous.”

The warmth of Caden’s kiss still lingered on my face, making my cars and checks burn. His words echoed in my mind, and I felt a comforting warmth spread through me.
As much as Caden could be a bit childish at times, it was clear that he cared deeply for me.
“Alright, I understand what you’re worried about,” I said collecting myself and smoothing out his jacket. I patiently explained, “I’ve been looking after Jasper because he saved me. And as for what I said earlier … well, he just woke up. I’ll talk to him more about it when he’s feeling better. Please, don’t be jealous.”
“But he knows what our relationship is,” Caden interrupted, his voice tinged with concern. “I just don’t like how Jasper keeps getting close to you, expressing his feelings.”
Seeing the seriousness in his expression made me let out a helpless laugh. I shook my head, deciding to change the subject.
“Let’s not talk about Jasper anymore,” I said, then shifted the conversation. “Have you noticed anything strange with Heidi since you told her about the plan?”
Caden paused, his face growing more serious. “She hasn’t done anything too unusual, but she’s been acting the same as always–trying to get into the study and wanting me to go with her.”
His words made me uneasy, but I knew there was nothing more crucial right now than getting Heidi to slip
- up.
I turned to him, speaking with conviction. “It seems like she’s starting to make a move. But you might have to tolerate her a little longer, Try to give in to her requests as much as, possible. The more she thinks she has you wrapped around her finger, the easier it’ll be for her to make a mistake.”
Caden clicked his tongue, looking at me with furrowed brows, not quite understanding.
He raised his hand as though to tap my head, but then stopped, lowering it and nodding. “Don’t worry. I know what to do. But you need to keep your distance from Jasper.”
“I know.”
Heidi’s POV:
Another call from Everett came through.
“Heidi, how many days has it been? When are you going to get the Azure Bay proposal?”
Every time Everett called, a wave of dread washed over me, but I felt helpless.
Right now, all I could do was respond meekly, “I’ve been gathering information from Caden. Just give me two more days. I’ll have it for you-”
Two more days! Again with two days!” Everett’s voice on the other end was laced with irritation. “How much time have I already given you? I need to see that proposal this weekend, or you’ll regret it!”
The line went dead with a busy signal, and I slowly put my phone down, anxiety growing in my chest. I knew exactly what kind of pressure Everett would apply

With Caden out of the house and the study door unlocked, this was the perfect opportunity to get my hands on the proposal.
I made up my mind and sneaked quietly out of the room, heading toward the study door. I turned the knob, finding it unlocked..
Entering the study, I scanned the shelves and spotted a few binders on the second shelf. I quickly pulled them down, flipping through them with urgency, but found nothing.
Time was running out. Caden had said he would be back for lunch.
Then it hit me. I ran to the desk drawer, rifling through it, and finally found a sealed document at the very bottom of the third drawer. Inside was a single sheet of paper.
Azure Haven Proposal.
This was it!
My heart raced as I quickly snapped a photo of the document with my phone.
But just as I was about to send it to Everett, doubt crept in. I froze, staring at the “Send” button.
If Everett wanted the proposal that badly, he likely wouldn’t take immediate action against me, no matter how desperate he was. But sending it now would mean giving up a valuable bargaining chip.
I pressed my lips together, holding the phone close to my chest, deciding to hold off on sending it for now.
Just then, I heard the sound of keys turning in the lock.
My heart skipped a beat. I quickly shoved the document back into the drawer and placed it back where it had been just as Caden opened the door.
Our eyes locked.
Caden raised an eyebrow, a slight frown forming. “Tessa, what are you doing in the study?”
I quickly adjusted my expression, forcing a smile and trying to mask my panie. “Uh… The nurse didn’t come today, and I was getting bored at home, so I decided to tidy up a bit. I just finished cleaning the desk. If you don’t want me here, I can leave right away.”

Just as I neared the door, I gathered my resolve, letting out a soft hum, closing my eyes tightly, and allowing my body to slump gently to the floor.
“Tessa. Tessa!”
Caden, with his quick reflexes, caught me in his arms as I pretended to faint. He called my name several times, but I kept my eyes shut, allowing myself to fall into his embrace. I felt his arms lift me and carry me out of the study
He laid me down on the soft bed, carefully covering me with a blanket. I secretly opened my eyes, realizing I was in my own bedroom, with Caden standing nearby, filling a glass with hot water.
A wave of relief washed over me as I slowly opened my eyes, watching Caden approach with the cup in his hands.
Seeing me awake, the tension in his expression faded.
“Tessa,” he said, placing the cup on the nightstand and propping me up with a pillow behind my back.
His touch was gentle, and my heart fluttered at the tenderness he showed me.
“Now that you’re awake, how, do you feel? Is anything still hurting?” he asked softly. “I spoke to the doctor earlier, and he said this is just a side effect of your condition. You haven’t fully recovered yet, so you shouldn’t push yourself too hard.”
I stared at him, instinctively reaching out to touch his face. Tears spilled from my eyes before I could stop them. “Caden … ”
Caden’s face softened with concern, and he quickly grabbed a tissue, gently dabbing at my tears. “What’s wrong? Why are you crying all of a sudden?”
“I–I … ” I choked on my words. “I know my illness is serious. Before, when I was getting better, I asked the doctor, and he said that even if I improved, there’s still a chance of relapse. It’s a terminal illness… I know my time is running out.”
Caden’s expression turned to one of sorrow, and he moved closer, pulling me into his arms. “Silly girl, don’t talk like that. I’ll find someone who can cure you!
I gently shook my head, resting against his chest. “There’s no need to bother, Caden … I know my own. body. I only have one wish. Do you remember when we were little, in the cabin, and you promised to marry me?”
“I remember,” he said.
A surge of happiness filled me as I steadied myself. “I just want to marry you while I’m still alive, to be your wife and share some beautiful moments together. Thats all I ask for. I don’t need anything more.”
Caden stared at me seriously, silent for a moment.

Joy overwhelmed me, and I smiled, wrapping my arms around him. “Caden, you’re amazing.”
Once I became the future lady of the Eclipse Pack, I would.never have to worry about Everett again.
No more looking down at others or caring about their opinions. Every werewolf in Rivemon would call me Mrs. Holbrook with respect!
True to his word, Caden wasted no time. The very next day, he publicly announced our engagement.
The media went wild, and since the Eclipse Pack was one of Rivemon’s top business powers, Caden’s engagement drew considerable attention.
“Love Is in the Air! Eclipse Pack CEO Is to Marry His Childhood Sweetheart–What Will Happen to Her Now?”
Every report about us inevitably mentioned Rosaline.
When I saw the news, I couldn’t have been more pleased.
I had finally won against Rosaline.
Queenie’s POV:
I was stunned as I read about Caden’s engagement to Heidi. A wave of jealousy sparked inside me.
I set my phone down and angrily turned to Aunt Eleanor. “Aunt Eleanor, Heidi is clearly after Caden’s wealth! And look at her–she doesn’t even belong to our Eclipse Pack! Who knows what her real intentions are? Caden can’t marry this woman!”
Aunt Eleanor, having also seen the news, looked even more furious than I was. Her face was flushed with anger as she muttered, “After Rosaline left, Heidi came along. Some wild girl from who knows where, wanting to enter our Eclipse Pack. A bar singer, huh? She thinks she can marry into the Pack and become Luna? Ridiculous!”
I seized the opportunity and added more fuel to the fire. “Aunt Eleanor, I heard that woman is already living in New Moon City. That’s Caden’s own house! Letting her move in is like admitting she’s the lady of the house.”
Aunt Eleanor pursed her lips and gave me an irritated glance. “Let’s go. We’re going to meet her.”

The doorbell rang relentlessly. I opened it to find two female werewolves standing there, both wearing a scowl look with clear disdain.
“Who are you?” I asked, confused.
The younger werewolf scoffed, walking past me and following the older woman inside without saying a word.
The older one gave me a cold, assessing look. “I though my son was going to marry someone extraordinary, but I guess this is what he meant,” she sneered.
The younger werewolf, with her chin held high in arrogance, added, “Maybe Caden just wanted to try out something different. Aunt Eleanor, look at her–there’s no way someone like her belongs with Caden.”
It hit me immediately–this was Caden’s mother, Eleanor, and Caden’s cousin, Queenie.
Though I felt a rush of defiance, I knew I had to remain composed. I forced a smile and said, “Oh, Mrs. Eleanor, Queenie, it’s so nice to finally meet you! I didn’t know you were coming… Please, make yourselves comfortable. I’ll go grab some fruit.”
Queenie scoffed, clearly unimpressed. “Stop pretending we’re family. Just because you managed to latch onto Caden doesn’t mean you’ll be the next lady of Eclipse Pack. With your pitiful appearance, dreaming of such a thing is laughable.”
Eleanor’s gaze was equally contemptuous. “Becoming the Luna of Eclipse Pack? That’s only for women from prominent families, not for someone like you. Don’t think I don’t know you used to sing in a bar. People from places like that can’t be clean. Now tell me what’s your real motive for getting close to Caden?”
A cold shiver ran through me at her words, but I quickly regained my composure.
If they thought these words would intimidate me, they were sorely mistaken.
“I don’t have any motive … ” I said softly, my head downcast. “Mrs. Eleanor, Caden and I truly want to be together. He promised to marry me. How can you say such things about me?”
Before I could finish, Queenie stepped forward and shoved me roughly. “Stop pretending to be the victim! Do you really think someone like you could ever be accepted by Eclipse Pack?!”
“Ah!” I cried out as I lost my balance and crashed to the floor. My hand scraped against the ground, leaving a painful cut. Tears filled my eyes as I looked up at Queenie, feeling a mix of hurt and frustration.
The fall, though partly an accident, turned out to be a perfect opportunity. And just then, Caden walked in.
His eyes darkened when he saw me on the floor. Without a second thought, he rushed over to help me up, glaring at the two women standing there. “Who let you in?”

his tone melted into warmth. “Are you okay? You’re bleeding. Hold on–I’ll grab something for that.”

They marched away, their angry footsteps echoing behind them. Caden helped me sit on the sofa before searching for the medical supplies to treat my injury.
As soon as the disinfectant made contact, I gasped and jerked my hand away, pain flashing across my face.
“I’ll go easy, but it might burn a bit.” Caden focused on me with quiet concern, carefully tending to the cut. “How long were they bothering you? They didn’t hassle you too much, right?”
Caden’s concern for me made my heart swell with happiness. I shook my head gently. “They weren’t here long. They’re only looking out for you. They didn’t mean any harm.”
Caden paused for a moment, then said, “Next time they come, ignore them. Or just call me.”
I could barely contain my joy, but I nodded demurely, keeping my composure.
“Okay
Now that I was officially with Caden, how could Everett still have any power over me after our wedding?
After Caden finished tending to my wound, his phone rang.
He glanced at the screen, his expression turning serious as he answered.
“Yes, alright, I understand. fl head back immediately.”
“Is something wrong?” I asked, concerned.

“Yes. Grandpa, this was something Rosaline and I came up with together,” Caden said. “Please, let me explain…

After listening to him, I finally sighed in relief and patted his shoulder. “So that’s what you two were planning. Well, now I can relax.”

Hearing that, I nodded, fully reassured.
Caden’s POV:
Looking at Grandpa’s face, I knew there was nothing more to explain, After spending some time with the Alpha of Eclipse Pack, I headed back to New Moon City
When Heidi saw me, her face lit up, and she immediately rushed over to me, taking my arm and guided me to the sofa. Then she headed to the kitchen, bringing back a plate of freshly sliced oranges and setting it down on the coffee table.
“Caden, you’ve been working so hard at the office. You should eat some fruit to soothe your throat. What do you want for dinner? I’ll cook for you.”
As she moved around, I smiled and gently pulled her down beside me, resting my hand on her arm. “Your hand is still hurt. Don’t cook tonight. And … “I paused, eyeing her closely. “You’re being unusually sweet all of a sudden. Is there something you want to tell me?”
Heidi laughed softly, clearly caught, and leaned into my side with a shy smile. “Caden, I made an appointment at a bridal shop. Since we’re getting married soon… I thought I’d try on some wedding dresses. Do you have time to come with me tomorrow?
Her eyes were sparkling with excitement as she waited for my response.
I sighed, the smile fading slightly.
Trying on wedding dresses was something I had always hoped to do with Rosaline.
Heidi instantly noticed the subtle change in my expression. She looked at me with a soft, almost pleading look and asked, “Caden … don’t you have time tomorrow?”

hair gently, trying to comfort her, before pulling out a gold card from my wallet. “Why don’t you go by yourself? While you’re shopping, buy whatever you like Take this card. Use it however you want, okay?”
Heidi’s eyes lit up when she saw the card. She took it from me with a bright smile, nodding eagerly. “Alright, thank you, Caden!”
Heidi’s POV:
The next day, I arrived at For You Bridal and spoke to the receptionist. “Hello, I have an appointment to try on a wedding dress today. I’m here for the hand–crafted lace gown.”
“Ms. Tessford, right? Please, follow me,” the saleswoman said with a polite smile after checking her appointment book. She led me to the dress.
The gown was a limited edition, custom–made by Fostrau’s top wedding dress designer. The skirt was pure white, layered, and adorned with hand–stitched lace, accented by pearls. The dress train was 10–feet long, flowing out like something straight out of a fairy tale.
The moment I saw the dress, I couldn’t help but smile. It was breathtaking–exactly what I had always imagined.
“Ms. Tessford, if you like this dress, I’ll help you try it on. It’s our finest, most exquisite gown. I believe it will suit you perfectly.”
The saleswoman was eager to promote it, knowing that my reputation had spread across Rivemon.
Now that I was the future Luna of Eclipse Pack, who would dare treat me with less than respect?
I nodded confidently. “I’ll take this one!”
Half an hour later, the saleswoman pulled back the curtain of the fitting room. I stepped out, wearing the hand–made wedding dress, and slowly walked toward the mirror.
My hair was styled in an elegant bridal updo, complete with a handwoven pearl crown. The whole look radiated sophistication and luxury.
Standing before the mirror, I was stunned by how beautiful I looked. Never in my life had I imagined I could be such a breathtaking bride.
The saleswoman was momentarily speechless, but quickly regained her composure and showered me with… compliments. “I knew it! This gown fits you perfectly, Ms. Tessford. If Mr. Holbrook could see you now, he’d surely be completely mesmerized by you.”
Her praise made me feel a little giddy, but then a voice from nearby interrupted my thoughts. “Ms. Tessford!”

I followed the sound of the voice and saw a strange female werewolf walking toward me.”
She beamed when she noticed me looking her way and eagerly approached. “I didn’t expect to see you here. Are you here to try on wedding dresses? Oh, let me introduce myself first–I’m a reporter.”
I hesitated for a moment before giving a polite nod and offering a professional smile. “Hello.”
The reporter quickly scanned me before her face lit up with a bright smile. “This wedding dress looks amazing on you, Ms. Tessford. It’s a perfect match. You look even more stunning than the articles described… Oh, is Mr. Holbrook not here with you today?”
I blinked in surprise but quickly regained my composure and smiled. “Caden’s been swamped with work lately, so he let me come on my own to try on dresses. He even said we’re going to have the most extravagant wedding ever, one that will be unforgettable for a lifetime. Oh, look at me oversharing again.”
I was being intentional. Knowing she was a reporter, I figured everything I said would soon be published, making it clear to everyone that Caden was planning to marry me. Rosaline, the Omega, would lose everything.
The reporter quickly shook her head, but her eyes gleamed with excitement as she processed the scoop. It’s fine. You and Mr. Holbrook are getting married, so of course you’re excited. He must treat you very well.”
I played coy, lowering my gaze as I replied, “He spoils me a lot. This wedding dress, for example, is something Caden had specially ordered for me. He even mentioned we’d be going to Phoshire for our honeymoon.”
I didn’t even lower my voice; I wanted the entire world to hear. I, the future Luna of Eclipse Pack, was finally taking my place.
Rosaline’s POV:
I sat at home, staring at the news headlines. “Heidi Tries on Wedding Dress–Is She Really the Future Luna of Eclipse Pack?”
My emotions were conflicted. After a moment, I turned the TV off.
It felt as though my heart was weighed down under suffocating pressure.
Although this was part of the plan Caden and I had discussed, seeing Heidi trying on the dress triggered a moment of doubt.
For a brief instant, I wondered–was Caden truly going to marry someone else?
I frowned, pressing my hand to my chest, trying to push away the bitter feeling. I quickly composed myself and left to visit Jasper at the hospital.
Jasper’s POV:
Rosaline was cutting oranges for me, but it was clear she wasn’t really present.
I turned toward her several times, studying her face.

Chapter 468 Was Caden Truly Going to Marry Someon Elge?
I had seen the news earlier about Heidi trying on wedding dresses.
Honestly, I was furious when I saw it.

It felt like Caden was confused. He’d made his relationship with Heidi public, yet he was still holding onto Rosaline, unable to let go.
“Here.” Rosaline handed me a slice of orange with a faint smile, but as she tried to pull her hand back, I couldn’t help but grab her wrist.
“Rosaline.” I began with an agitated voice, locking my gaze with hers. “I know you’ve always loved Caden, but he’s not worth it. You… you must have seen it, right Heidi’s trying on wedding dresses. They’re getting married, and now it’s all out in the open!”
I could feel my chest rising and falling with agitation, and when Rosaline heard my words, she lowered her gaze, silent.
Her silence felt like sorrow to me, and it gave me the strength to continue. “Caden broke up with you not long ago, right? He’s not the man you should rely on. He’s blind for letting you go, only to get engaged to someone like Heidi. Don’t be sad. Don’t let him hurt you anymore.
“Rosaline, you’ve been taking care of me these past few days. You know how I feel about you. I might not have the wealth or influence that Caden has, but I can give you happiness. I’m willing to wait for you. Even if you don’t feel the same way now, we can take it slow. Please, just let me in.”
I had been struggling with these thoughts every day. I needed to know Rosaline’s feelings, and after gathering all my courage, I finally let my emotions spill out.
In my eyes, Caden didn’t deserve Rosaline.
Rosaline’s POV:
I took a deep breath, pulling my hand away from Jasper’s, unsure how to respond to him.
For now, I had to pretend I didn’t notice the sincerity in his gaze. I tucked the blanket around him and said, “You need to rest and focus on recovering. Once you’re out of the hospital, we can talk about everything.”
Jasper paused, then slowly withdrew his hand, giving me a gentle nod. “Alright, I’ll do as you say.”

I had bought some fruit to visit Jasper, but as I reached he door, I overheard Rosaline’s confession.
I froze, standing quietly at the doorway, a wave of disappointment sweeping over me.
So… Jasper is really in love with Rosaline, huh?
Of course, Rosaline was such a kind and caring person. It was no surprise that Jasper would have feelings for her.
But here I was, just a newcomer in the acting world, and pursuing someone like Jasper felt… out of reach.
Still, my feelings for him were real.
I gripped the fruit basket tighter, torn between whether I should go inside or not.
I was just here to see Jasper. There shouldn’t be any harm in opening the door and stepping in, right?
Despite the heaviness in my heart, I knew I had to respect my limits. Looking at the fruit basket in my hands, I hesitated for a moment before deciding to open the door and enter.
Both of them turned when they saw me, immediately pulling their hands away from the bed covers.
Rosaline smiled warmly at me and nodded. “Naomi, you’re here.”
Jasper froze for a moment when he saw me, but then offered a polite smile.
I felt awkward but quickly composed myself, offering a soft smile as I asked, “Rosaline … I just came to check on Jasper. Is he feeling any better?”
Rosaline chuckled and stood up. “He’s resting now. Since you’re here, why don’t you stay and chat with him? I just remembered there’s something I need to take care of at the company.”
She grabbed her handbag, giving Jasper a gentle reminder to rest.
Jasper clearly didn’t want Rosaline to leave. He opened his mouth to say something,
But the only word that came out was “You … ” before he fell silent.
I stood there, awkwardly smiling at the whole situation.
Yura’s POV:
“Yu, you have to come look at this!” Nathan had been scrolling through his phone when suddenly he furrowed his brow and called me over.
After everything that happened with the rescue, I didn’t feel suspicious of Nathan anymore. I walked over and sat beside him, confused. “What’s going on? Why the big fuss?”
Nathan held up his phone for me to see. The screen was filled with news about Caden announcing his engagement to Heidi and Heidi trying on wedding dresses.

Chapter 469 Yura’s Worry
I stared at the phone, eyes wide. “What? Caden’s marrying Heidi?”
+8 Pearls
Wasn’t Caden just all about Rosaline not too long ago? How did he go from that to planning to marry Someone else?
Nathan and I exchanged a glance, both of us silently understanding what the other was thinking.
We had originally planned to stay in Hego for a few more days because of my parents‘ request. But now, we knew we had to leave immediately and figure out what was going on with Rosaline.
It was impossible that they had broken up without an explanation.
We quickly packed our things, and within two hours, we were rushing out of the door with our luggage, wearing our shoes in the entryway. I quickly told my parents, “Mom, Dad, something’s happened with Rosaline, so Nathan and I need to head back. I’ll visit again soon.”
My parents barely had time to respond before we were on our way out the door.
We had to get back fast. I wasn’t sure how upset Rosaline was, but as her best friend, I needed to be there for her.
On the plane, I couldn’t shake my nerves. Nathan, noticing my anxiety, tried to comfort me gently. “Yu, don’t worry. Maybe there’s something going on with Rosaline and Caden that we don’t know about.”
“But Caden’s about to marry someone else… “I sighed, unsure how to comfort Rosaline once I saw her. “I guess I’ll figure it out when I see her.”
Three hours later, the plane landed in Rivemon. Nathan and I rushed out of the airport, catching a cab. I immediately called Rosaline. “Hey, Rosaline, Nathan and I are back. Where are you? I need to talk to you about something.”
Rosaline gave me her address, and we hurried over.
When we arrived, I knocked anxiously on the door, my heart racing.
“Coming, coming.” Rosaline opened the door and immediately laughed softly when she saw my worried face. Without hesitation, she stepped aside and asked, “What’s going on with you two? Why the rush? Come on in.”
I shot her a frustrated look and hurried inside. Rosaline set down two glasses of juice in front of us, but before she could walk away, I grabbed her hand and pulled her down to sit beside me.
“Stop what you’re doing. I need to ask you something.”
Rosaline, taken aback by my serious tone, couldn’t help but smile. “What’s up? You’re being so serious. Just tell me what’s on your mind.”
I pulled out my phone, showing her the news I had seen earlier that morning. I waved it in front of her face, asking urgently, “What’s going on with you and Caden? I thought you guys were going strong. Why is he getting engaged to Heidi?”
Rosaline looked at the article and let out a relieved sigh. “Oh, this? You’re worried over nothing. I thought something big had happened. I appreciate you worrying about me, though.”

I looked at Yura with a mysterious smile as I spoke, “Don’t worry, Yura. This is something Caden and I planned from the start, You can calm down. You’ll soon see everything unfold.”
“Planned?” Yura’s confusion deepened. “What did you an? What kind of plan involves such breaking news?”
“Here’s what happened…”
I decided it was time to stop keeping secrets and explain everything to both Yura and Nathan.
When Yura finally understood, she slapped me lightly on the arm. “So it was all a setup? You should’ve told me earlier! I thought Gaden had really fallen for someone else.”
I chuckled, shaking my head. “At first, I didn’t want to tell anyone. The fewer people who knew, the more convincing it would be. But now, with everything about to happen, it won’t hurt to tell you both.” I paused and gave them both a mischievous look. “Oh, and by the way…”
I suddenly had a playful thought and grinned. “How’s everything going … between you two?”
Both Yura and Nathan became visibly awkward.
Nathan smiled at Yura but remained silent, offering no explanation.
Yura shot me an exasperated look and sighed. “What are you thinking? Nathan and I are just friends. Anything beyond that … isn’t even something I’m considering right now. Besides … “She started to say

Nathan, ever the tactful one, spoke up at that moment. We just got off the plane and rushed over. I’m a little hungry. Rosie, do you have anything to eat?”
“You can check the fridge. There should be some of the mini cakes I made.”
As Nathan headed to the kitchen, Yura grabbed my hand, her expression shifting to concern. “While I was away, how’s Timothy doing? Is his leg any better?”
“He’s much better.” I nodded. “He’s been really cooperative with his treatment, and his recovery is going well. He’s in the observation stage now, but everything seems fine.”
“That’s good to hear. Dr. Watts must have been a huge help.” Yura finally relaxed, a smile forming on her face.
Seeing that, I knew she was still hung up on Timothy. I remembered she’d wanted to visit him before heading back to Hego, so I decided to test the waters. “Hughie’s leaving in a few days, and since you’re back, do you want to go with me to see Timothy tomorrow?”
“Sure.” Yura agreed without hesitation.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Nathan standing nearby, holding a plate of cakes, his face subtly expressing disappointment.

The moment Timothy saw me, he froze, clearly caught off guard.
Unfazed, Rosaline set the flowers and fruit she had brought on the bedside table, then glanced at me with a wink. “You two catch up. I’m going to step out for a call.”
Once Rosaline left, I stood there, staring at Timothy. My eyes filled with tears, but none fell.
I missed him so much, but I didn’t know where to begin.
After what seemed like an eternity, I managed to offer a small smile. “Timothy, it’s been a while. Rosaline told me … your leg’s almost fully recovered.”
Timothy tugged the corner of his mouth into a faint smile. “Yeah, Dr. Watts is amazing. My leg’s nearly healed, and he said after a bit more rest, I’ll be good to go. Don’t worry… I’m fine.”

I stood there in a daze for a moment, then nodded and smiled. “Okay.”
After that, a heavy silence settled between us. I fidgeted with my fingers, unsure of what to say next.
Timothy stared at me quietly, just as speechless.
I sighed softly, my heart aching. Moon Goddess, could you tell me why, despite our love, things had become so distant between us?

To be honest, I enjoyed it. Now that my status was out the open, it felt like I held all the power, a card that no one could ignore.
“Okay, sounds good. I’ll check out the venue you designed this weekend. See you then. Bye.” I had just ended a call with the wedding venue staff when another one came through.
When I saw the caller’s number, a wave of uncase
washed over me..
It was Everett.
“Hey, Everett-” I spoke softly.
“Cut the crap!” Everett’s voice came through, sharp and angry. “Heidi, I’ll ask you one more time. Do you have the proposal or not? I don’t have time for games.”
“I “Caden trusts me completely now. Just give me a little more time, and I’ll get the proposal for you… wasn’t eager to hand over the photos of the proposal I had taken. That document, like Caden, was my leverage over Everett–my trump card.
Everett scoffed, his voice filled with mockery. “Fine, I’ll give you some time. But don’t keep me waiting.”
The call ended abruptly, leaving me rattled, but I quickly forced myself to calm down.
I held the very thing Everett wanted, and I knew he wouldn’t dare harm me just yet.
By the weekend, I was at the jewelry store, trying on the custom engagement ring I had designed. After receiving the finished piece, I couldn’t help but smile as I walked out, eager to admire it. But just as I reached the stairs, someone grabbed my mouth and pulled me down forcefully.
“Mmm! Mmm!”
I struggled, but my voice was muffled, and I was unable to scream. The dark–clad werewolf who had seized me dragged me to a quiet corner and shoved me into the back of a black sedan.
“So much hassle just to talk to you.” A familiar voice rang out, and I froze.
I turned in shock and saw Everett sitting beside me, a twisted half–smile on his face.
“Everett…
The moment I saw him, it felt like all the blood drained from my body. My hands stiffened, and I instinctively wanted to flee, but he grabbed my hair and yanked me back.
A sharp pain shot through my scalp, and I grimaced, trying to force a smile as I carefully looked at him.

His voice turned even colder, the threat unmistakable, nd I involuntarily trembled. I tried to deflect, saying, “Caden is always so vigilant. He won’t let me near the study. Just give me a little more time-”
“Stop stalling!” Everett’s voice turned harsh as he slammed his palm onto my check and glared at me. “Listen carefully–my patience is running out. If you don’t give me the proposal for the amusement park, I won’t hesitate to tell Caden that you’re pretending to be Tessa.
“You’ll never escape my grasp!” Everett spat, his words venomous as he released me, pushing me aside.
My heart sank. If Caden found out that I wasn’t really ‘lessa, that I was just pretending to be her … everything I had worked for would come crashing dow
No. I couldn’t let that happen.

“These are the photos I took of the proposal I found in Caden’s study. I’ve sent them all to you
The phone buzzed as Everett opened each image one by one, examining the pictures of the Azure Bay proposal. Only when he was satisfied did he nod.
He looked at me, and instinctively, I flinched. Fear gripped me as I wondered what he would do next.
But Everett just smiled faintly, patting my cheek. “You should’ve given this to me earlier. Next time, don’t think you can outsmart me
“Alright, you can go now. Remember, don’t let Caden find out. I don’t think I need to remind you of the consequences, do I?”

I raised an eyebrow, glancing out the window at the passing scene. “I hear you’re the supplier for the building materials for Eclipse Pack’s Azure Haven project. I was wondering if you have some time today. I’d like to meet up; I have a business matter to discuss.”
Heidi’s POV:
During the entire ride back to the apartment, I was a bundle of nerves, my mind overwhelmed with worry. Teven felt the urge to turn around and run as I got closer to the complex’s gates.
I couldn’t stop thinking about that day when Caden caught me in the study.
What if Everett wemt after Caden? What if Caden found out I stole the proposal
I barely registered how I entered the apartment, my palms clammy with sweat.
Caden wasn’t in the living room.
I let out a soft breath of relief and tiptoed toward the room, only to find the study door slightly ajar. Caden was sitting at the desk, holding the amusement park proposal–the one I had found–in his hands.
I froze, my heart hammering in my chest. I forced myself to stay calm, then raised my hand and knocked gently on the door.
“Caden.”
“Tessa.” Caden smiled when he saw me, motioning for me to come over. “How was the ring fitting?”
Seeing Caden seem unaffected, I relaxed a little. I moved toward him, settling by his side and sweetly saying, “It was great. The ring is beautiful, and it fits perfectly… Next time, will you come with me?”
“Sure.” Caden’s hand brushed my shoulder gently. “But I’ve been busy with a project at work. Once things settle down, I’ll take some time off to be with you.”
“Sounds perfect!” I beamed, my earlier apprehension melting away. I looked up at him and cautiously asked, “Caden, since we’re getting engaged, when will you take me to meet your grandpa at the old mansion? We need his blessing, and as Alpha, he should pick the date for us. It’d be rude if we got married without his blessing, right?”

He stepped out with a knowing smile, his tone dripping with implication. “Mr. Lloyd, don’t worry. As long as BPL holds up their part of the deal, I’ll make sure everything is handled properly.”
I shook his hand politely before escorting him to the door.
My reason for meeting with Harry was straightforward
If the materials for the Azure Haven project were substandard–by using inferior materials that will caused an accident … Eclipse Pack and Caden, as the apparent heir, would never be able to rise in Rivemon.
Then, everything BPL wanted would be ours.

It was Yale, who walked up to my desk and said with respect, “Mr. Holbrook, just as you predicted, Mr. Welch has told me everything. Everett has indeed started making moves.”

Rosaline’s POV:
Jasper, how are you feeling today?”
When I entered his hospital room, I saw Jasper awake and reading a book.
When he noticed me, he set it down and said, “The doctor mentioned I might need more observation, but I feel fine now… ”
I nodded in acknowledgment. Jasper looked at me, then asked, “Rosaline, how’s everything on set? I still have a lot of scenes left to shoot. I’m worried that if this continues, the production will fall behind schedule. What if we miss the festival deadlines? That would be a disaster.”
“I’ve already sorted things out on set. Don’t worry. They’ll focus on the scenes that don’t require you for now, so you can rest. When you’re back, most of your scenes are dialogues, so it won’t be a big deal,” I reassured him softly.
I’d already told the director to film the parts without the lead actor while Jasper was recovering, but it would still take about half a month to finish them.
For now, the most important thing was his health.
At that moment, a werewolf nurse came in for rounds, and I asked a few questions about Jasper’s condition. Everything seemed to be fine.
“But I still want to go back to the set,” Jasper said seriously. “Rosaline, I’m an actor. I take my profession seriously. This was an accident, and I don’t want to keep everyone waiting. I feel bad about it.”
“It’s okay. Everyone knows about your situation now. You don’t need to worry. Just focus on getting better.”

I knew Jasper was still in the hospital. During the ride, I heard the radio talking about him.
Just thinking about him made me smile without realizing it.
When I arrived at the hospital, I asked the receptionist werewolf nurse, for Jasper’s room number.
As I approached his room, I noticed the door was ajar and heard laughter coming from inside.
I pecked in and froze. To my shock, I saw Rosaline sitting beside Jasper, peeling fruit for him, while Jasper
smiled at her.
It seemed that after all this time, Jasper’s feelings for Rosaline hadn’t changed at all.
The more I stared, the angrier I became. I glared at Rosaline’s back, feeling a surge of rage. I wished I could shift into a wolf and tear that Omega apart right there.
Rosaline’s POV:
Heft the hospital and decided to drive back to the company.
But just a few minutes into the drive, a slender female werewolf suddenly appeared out of nowhere. She was on the phone, looking hurried. By the time she noticed my car honking, it was already too late.
“Ah!”
I widened my eyes and slammed on the brakes.
Luckily, I managed to stop in time.
The woman had been bumped by my car, but since I had braked, I didn’t think she’d be seriously hurt— though some bumps and bruises were unavoidable.
I quickly got out of the car and saw the woman sitting on the ground in front of my car, with a scrape on her right knee.
“Ugh…” She winced in pain, trying to reach for the injury but froze, unable to move her hand.
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t see you. Let me help you up.” I quickly apologized, reaching out to help her up.
She seemed to be limping, but smiled softly. It didn’t seem like she was upset.
“It’s fine. I was arguing with someone on the phone and didn’t see the car. I wasn’t paying attention, so it’s partly my fault.”
I sighed in relief. This woman spoke gently and didn’t seem like the type to make a fuss.
Still, I felt guilty. “There’s a hospital nearby. Let me take you there to get that looked at, since it’s my fault.”
“Okay. Thank you.” She smiled faintly, her voice soft. “But it’s not a big deal. I think just a bandage will do. You don’t need to worry about it.”

For some reason, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the female werewolf’s eyes looked oddly familiar, but I couldn’t quite figure out why.
We made it to the hospital quickly, and I helped her along the way. After the werewolf nurse finished bandaging the scrape on her leg, I sat down with her of a bench in the hallway.
“Are you okay? Should we have you checked again?” I asked, concerned.
“No. I’m fine,” she replied, blinking as if she’d just realized the state of her injury. She shook her head and smiled at me. “You’re so thoughtful. You’re beautiful, kind, and gentle. I bet you have a lot of suitors.”
I’d heard plenty of compliments in my life, but hearing one from a stranger, someone I’d accidentally bumped with my car, made me feel a bit shy.
“You flatter me… Oh, we’ve been talking, but I don’t think I caught your name,” I replied, trying to keep the conversation light.
At that, the female werewolf gave a bright, cheerful smile and casually extended her hand. “Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. My name’s Anna.”
。
She looked at me intently. “I lived abroad for a while, but I just came back. I don’t have any close friends around… It’s nice to meet you.”
So her name was Anna.
I didn’t think much about it. As I noticed she kept smiling at me without blinking, I snapped out of my thoughts and politely shook her hand. “Nice to meet you, Anna. I’m Rosaline.”
Timothy’s POV:
Half a month had passed in the blink of an eye.
Yura and I hadn’t spent much time together since our last meeting. Though she still came to visit me in the hospital, there was an evident distance between us now. Our conversations had turned into mere polite exchanges.
While undergoing treatment, I made it a point to get up and walk around a little each day. I’d heard it helped with nerve recovery.
After Hughie treated me with a witch’s stone one day, he said, “All done. Your leg’s almost healed. But you didn’t take care of yourself before, so this is all I can do for now. Now, get up and try walking. See how it feels.”
I had been reflecting a lot on my relationship with Yura recently. I started to wonder if I had been too stubborn, too rigid in my views, which led us to this point.
What if I had made a different choice? Would things have turned out differently?
Hughie’s voice snapped me back to reality, and I looked up at the werewolf doctor, grateful. “Thank you for everything, Dr. Watts. You’ve done a lot for my leg. I know that I might never fully recover, but I appreciate your help.”

When Hughie mentioned Yura, a wave of sadness hit me, and I replied quietly. “Yeah, she’s always been good to me, but that’s all in the past now..
Before Hughie could respond, the door suddenly opened, and Rosaline and Yura walked in.
Rosaline saw me sitting up and placing a new bouquet by my bed. She smiled and asked, “Timothy, how are you feeling today?”
When I saw Yura, I froze for a moment, then forced a smile.
I slowly lowered my feet to the floor, trying to steady myself as I stood and tested my balance while moving forward.
My right leg was nearly healed, but I still had a slight limp when walking. As long as I moved slowly, it wasn’t too noticeable.
Yura looked at me with a mix of surprise and joy, her eyes filling with tears. She covered her mouth and exclaimed, “Timothy, you’re finally getting better…”
”
Her happiness touched me deeply. I walked over to her paused for a moment, and tried to speak, but no words came out.
Seeing this, Rosaline glanced at Hughie, who was tidying up. “Hughie, what’s going on?”
Hughie straightened up and walked over to Rosaline, replying, “His leg’s almost healed now. I’ve done all I can. Full recovery isn’t possible, but he’ll be fine for normal life. I’ve done my part, and now I’m heading back.”
“Already?” Rosaline seemed surprised. Yura, noticing them, walked over to Hughie. “Dr. Watts, why are you leaving so soon? You’ve healed Timothy’s leg, and I haven’t had a chance to thank you properly.”
“It’s fine. I’ve booked a flight for tomorrow afternoon. I’m leaving now,” Hughie said.
“Thank you, Dr. Watts,” I said sincerely.

The next afternoon, Yura and I headed to the airport to see Hughie off. As we walked him toward the entrance, I couldn’t hold it in any longer. I turned to him and asked, “Hughie, can you tell me who Ms. Sal really is?”
I had been wanting to ask him for a while, but out of respect for his feelings, I had kept quiet. If I didn’t ask now, I feared I’d never get the chance.
Hughie’s expression stiffened when I mentioned Sal’s me. He was silent for a moment before he finally spoke. “It’s nothing, really. Sal is your aunt–just an old acquaintance of mine.”
Aunt?
I frowned. This was the first time I had ever heard Hughie mention me having an aunt. And if both of my parents were gone, how could I have any other relatives? He had never mentioned anything like this before.
It seemed Sal might really be connected to me, but whether she was actually my aunt, I couldn’t say.
Just the revelation alone left me stunned.
I grabbed Hughie’s arm, my voice full of urgency. “Aunt? Hughie, you’re saying Ms. Sal is my aunt? Why didn’t you ever say anything about this before?”
Hughie grew quiet, and I quickly ran through possibilities in my head. Ms. Sal had such a close connection to Hughie. If she was truly my aunt, maybe he knew something about my parents.
The thought hit me, and I blurted out, “If… if that’s true, then do you my

I was overwhelmed with emotion, desperate to uncover the truth about what had happened and the memories of my past that had been lost.
My voice grew louder, raw with emotion, and a few werewolves nearby turned to look at us.
Yura quickly placed a calming hand on mine and whispered, “Rosaline, please calm down … We’re at the airport. If people hear you, it could cause trouble. Just keep your voice down.”
Hughie frowned, and after a long pause, he sighed deeply. Lowering his gaze, he gave a brief response.
“Sorry, I don’t know much about your parents. But-”
I didn’t believe him. I wanted to ask more, but just then the airport’s public address system blared, announcing that his flight would be boarding in half an hour.
Hughie nodded and said, “Rosaline, I have to board now. We’ll talk later.”
“Safe travels, Dr. Watts,” I said, my voice quieter.
Yura was much calmer than I was at that moment. She gently removed my hand from Hughie’s arm and gave me a comforting hug before bidding him farewell

As we left the airport, the heaviness in my heart wouldt lift. Yura sat next to me, offering soothing words.
Maybe Dr. Watts has his reasons for not telling you everything. Don’t be upset. One day, you’ll learn about your parents… There’s no need to rush.”
“But… “I frowned, the weight of it all making my chest che.
I had always been curious about my parents, but Hugh had never shared anything. Now, after finally getting a glimpse of the truth, it had been cut short.
And now, Hughie was already on his way back to Keardes Hill. If I kept pushing him, I worried it would only make things worse.
We made it back to the hospital. Yura opened the door to my room and found Timothy already dressed, sitting on the edge of the bed, the blankets–neatly arranged.
Yura blinked, confused, and instinctively asked, “Timothy, where are you going?”
Timothy turned when he heard the door open and smiled at us. “You’re back.”
He paused at Yura’s question, folded his arms, and thought for a moment before responding, “Now that Dr. Watts is gone, and my leg’s almost healed… I’ve been a burden to both of you. But if I stay in the hospital any longer, I think I’ll end up not being able to walk at all.”
Timothy chuckled sheepishly, clearly trying to ease the tension with a little humor.
“Are you being discharged?” I smiled back. I understood what Timothy meant, but Yura ready for him to leave just yet.
Timothy nodded.

As expected, Yura immediately became distressed. I knew she had promised Timothy that once he recovered, they would break up, but now that the time had come, she clearly wasn’t ready to let go.
“What are you going to do now?” Yura asked, her eyes full of longing and sadness.
Timothy thought for a moment before answering, “I’ve decided to return to that mountain village and teach. The children there barely got a chance at a proper education, and they really need to focus on their studies. I’ve already formed a bond with them, and I’ve missed them after all this time.”
Yura’s face fell, and the light in her eyes dimmed, but she eventually nodded, her voice thick with disappointment. “I see … then take care on your journey. Make sure to look after your leg.”
Timothy hesitated, then nodded. “Okay … and I hope everything goes well between you and Nathan.”
Yura froze, the smile vanishing from her face as her thoughts seemed to cloud over. She nodded solemnly, “Okay

She turned and slowly walked toward the door, but after taking a few steps, she staggered and collapsed the floor, unconscious.

Timothy shouted in panic, disregarding the fact that his leg might still be weak. He rushed to Yura’s side, lifted her, and called out her name repeatedly. When she didn’t respond, he gently laid her back down on the bed and pressed the emergency button.
I had no idea why Yura had fainted, but I gently shook her arm and whispered, “Yura, Yura, wake up!”
Within moments, a werewolf doctor hurried in. Timothy and I stepped aside, allowing him to check on Yura.
Yura slowly regained consciousness, and both Timothy and I stood anxiously by her side. The doctor removed his stethoscope, turned to Timothy with a smile, and said, “I’ve examined her. There’s nothing physically wrong with her. From what I can tell, she’s pregnant. Congratulations, young man. Once she feels better, you should take her to a gynecologist for further tests.”
The doctor naturally assumed Timothy and Yura were a couple. When Yura heard the news, she stared at him in shock, her eyes wide.
I, too, was stunned.
Yura … was pregnant?
I stared at her for a long while before asking, “Yura … y–you’re pregnant?”
Yura slowly placed a hand over her abdomen, her gaze dropping as if she couldn’t quite believe it herself.
I glanced at Timothy. His reaction just now was fresh in my mind. I could tell he cared deeply for Yura, and now with this revelation…
I couldn’t imagine what emotions he might be feeling right now.
After the doctor left, Timothy stood in silence, staring at Yura, his expression distant. The tension had faded, leaving only a lingering sadness.
“Timothy …
Yura was still trying to process the shock, unable to fully grasp what had just happened. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Timothy turning to leave and instinctively reached out, grabbing his wrist.
She wanted to say something, but no words came out,
“I … I’ve been here long enough. It’s time I head back. I’ve already got my ticket. Now that you’re pregnant, you should rest. I’ll get some air,” Timothy said, his voice flat.
He paused, his back to her, before reluctantly turning to offer a faint, forced smile. Gently, he pulled his wrist free from her grasp and left the room.
Yura turned to me, her face filled with helplessness. “Rosaline, what should I do?”

Yura was pregnant. The news had hit me like a punch to the gut. But now that it had come to this, maybe going back to the mountain village would give me some peace.
After a long moment of reflection, I pulled out my phone and dialed Nathan’s number.
“Nathan? It’s Timothy.”
Nathan was silent for a few seconds after picking up, then finally responded politely, “What can I do for you?”
“I wanted to let you know… “I lowered my head, taking my time with my words. “Yura’s in the hospital. She’s pregnant. And I’m heading back to the mountains to teach. I thought you should know, since you two are together. I hope you’ll give her the happiness she deserves.”
“What? What did you say?” Nathan exclaimed, shocked on the other end.
His response made me frown. What was this? Did he not want to take responsibility?
I raised my voice, more serious now, “Yes, Yura’s pregnant. Aren’t you two together? Now that she’s carrying your child, I hope you’ll step up and not let her suffer.”
With that, I hung up, the empty hallway stretching out before me. I took a deep breath.
It’s time to close this chapter.
Rosaline’s POV:
Yura clung to my wrist, her face a mask of anxiety.
“How could this happen? I was only with Nathan that one time at the hotel… How could I be … Rosaline, what should I do?”
Yura kept her hand over her abdomen, looking helplessly at me. “And now Timothy knows. Will he-”
I quickly patted her hand reassuringly. “It’s okay. Don’t worry. Just focus on taking care of yourself. Let me head out and check on him.”
I gently placed her hand back under the covers and stepped into the hallway, glancing over at Timothy.
“Have you really decided to go back to the mountains to teach? Yura doesn’t want to let you go.”
“She doesn’t want to, but this is how it has to be,” Timothy replied with a sigh, shaking his head. “Once a decision is made, there’s no turning back. I’ve thought about it, and maybe Yura and I were never meant to be. Even if we were together, it wouldn’t last–we’d just end up apart again.”
He turned to look through the window at Yura in the room, then looked back at me. “I’ve made my choice. I’m going back to the mountains. And I’ve already called Nathan. Since they’re together, he needs to take responsibility for Yura and her child. Please, take good care of her.”
I stood there in silence for a long time. Finally, I nodded. I knew once Timothy had made up his mind, nothing could change it.

For the past few days, I’d been feeling down because Yua had been avoiding me, but I never imagined I’d find out from Timothy that she was pregnant.
I could still remember that night at the hotel. It was Yur’s first time, so…
The shock quickly gave way to a rush of joy, disbelief, and an overwhelming sense of hope that maybe, just maybe, my dreams were about to come true.
I hastily threw on my coat and rushed to the hospital, barely pausing to acknowledge Rosaline standing by the door as I practically charged into the room.
“Yu… Yura, you’re pregnant?”
My voice startled her, and she blinked at me in disbelief, her fingers nervously gripping the edge of the bed. “Why are you here?”
Imoved closer, sat beside her, and gently took her hand, which rested outside the blankets. “Timothy called me … He told me about the pregnancy, and I rushed over. This is huge–why didn’t you tell me yourself?”
Yura’s eyes dropped, disappointment clear on her face as she turned her head slightly. She slowly pulled her hand away from mine.
“So he told you… I just found out, too. Honestly, I wasn’t ready for this. I don’t know how to be a mother….

“I didn’t expect to become a father so soon, either, but don’t worry. You’re pregnant now, and I’ll be here for you and the baby. I’ll marry you, and you’ll be the Luna of our Storm Pack.”
Yura tensed up, her gaze even more distant.
“No…” She shook her head, taking a deep breath as if summoning all her courage. “I’m still not ready. We don’t even have a solid foundation in our relationship. I–I don’t want to keep this child.”
I was taken aback for a moment but quickly shook my head in firm protest. “No, we can’t terminate the pregnancy. I’m the father, and I have a right to be part of this decision. Besides, abortion could harm your body. Have the baby, and I’ll take care of it.”
I spoke with determination, almost forcefully, just as Rosaline entered the room. She stepped forward and gently intervened. “Nathan, this is a huge shock for Yura. She’s likely feeling overwhelmed. What happened between the two of you was just a mistake. But I understand what you’re saying. You should head home for now and let her have some space to think.”
I looked at Rosaline, silent for a moment before nodding. “Okay… Rosie, please talk to Yura. I’ll go home

After Nathan left, I turned to Yura, who was lying in bed, lost in thought, I sighed and sat down next to her.
“Yura, what you said earlier
was a bit harsh,” I said softly taking her hand.
“But I really haven’t thought it through,” Yura replied, gripping the blanket tightly, her face pale.
I understood Yura’s shock. Finding out she was pregnar with Nathan’s child so suddenly must have sent her emotions into turmoil. She hadn’t had time to process what was happening, and now that it was real, she probably had no idea how to handle it.
I could understand her worries, but the baby wasn’t at ult.
“I know you’re conflicted, but the baby is innocent. They didn’t ask to come into this world. You can’t just turn your back on them. If you don’t want to marry Nathan, we can raise the child together. Raising a child alone is common these days.
“I just want you to think it over carefully. Don’t make any hasty decisions, or you might regret it later.”
“Let me think about it,” Yura replied after a long pause, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with me.
Seeing her reaction, I understood, and after speaking briefly about her health, I left the room.
This was Yura’s choice, not mine.
I had more important things to deal with. Only six days remained until the engagement Caden had arranged.

Recently, I had been in an unusually good mood. Since handed Everett the photos of my plan, my insufferable “brother” hadn’t contacted me once.
At first, I was filled with anxiety, fearing Caden might notice something strange or that Everett would somehow reveal my true intentions toward Caden.
But as time passed without any suspicious events, I started to feel more at case and shifted my focus entirely to preparing for the engagement.
Pourle
Now, everything seemed to be falling into place. I had indled every possible detail, and the only thing left was to wait for the big day to arrive.
However, despite the excitement of becoming the future Luna of the Eclipse Pack, there was one thing that troubled me.
That was Caden’s behavior.
Caden had always treated me with kindness and gentleness, but it was nothing more than that. Every time Itried to take things further, he found some excuse to avoid it or simply ignored my advances.
As time went on, doubt began to creep into my mind.
I couldn’t believe that Caden could be so composed, so unaffected by me.
!
That evening, I deliberately wore a seductive silk nightgown and made my way to Caden’s bedroom. I casually slipped into his bathroom, planning to take a shower.
The sound of water running filled the space as I leisurely washed myself, imagining the look of surprise on Caden’s face when he saw me afterward.
Suddenly, I heard the door open, followed by footsteps approaching.
“Tessa?”
Caden’s voice sounded from outside, clearly caught off guard by my presence.
I pushed open the door, wrapped in a white towel, and stepped out, smiling sweetly at him. “Caden, you’re back … ”
He glanced at me quickly, then looked away. But afterward, his gaze landed on my face. “Tessa, what are you doing here?”
I smiled and took a few steps toward him, shyly replying, “I’ve been waiting for you.”
“Alright, go put on some clothes before you catch a chill” Caden said, unbothered. He reached for a jacket on the bed, intending to drape it over my shoulders, but I quickly grabbed his wrist to stop him.
“Caden, I bought a new perfume today, and I was hoping you could smell it when you got back. That’s why I decided to shower here … ” I looked up at him with wide, innocent eyes and stood on my toes to whisper in his ear. “You’re not mad, are you?”

“Why would I be?” Caden answered, taking my hand, which was still holding onto his shirt. For a moment, my heart skipped a beat.
Maybe Caden was finally beginning to understand. But hat fleeting excitement turned to disappointment as he gently moved my hand away.
“I’m just concerned you might catch a cold, and you’ve never been in my room before. It feels a little strange. I’m not mad at you.”
“Caden … “I looked at him, unwilling to give up. I leaned in closer, wrapping my arms around his neck, and let out a soft, suggestive sigh near his car.
To my frustration, Caden merely shifted his gaze slightly, ignoring my smooth skin and the delicate hint of cleavage visible through my nightgown. He attempted to pull my hands down gently.
I quickly said, “Caden, you’ve turned me down so many times. But we’re about to get engaged. I want to give myself to you.”
The meaning in my words was crystal clear. Even someone dense would understand what I meant.
I tossed the towel aside, standing in front of him, completely exposed.
“Enough, Tessa.” Caden said calmly. He took a small step back, raising his hands to avoid touching me.
Then, he gently grasped my shoulders, picked up the towel from the floor, and wrapped it around my body. He pushed my hands away from him and stepped back, creating distance between us.
I stood there, bewildered. Caden gave me a small, almost pitying smile, his hand brushing my cheek as he tenderly adjusted my hair before speaking softly, “Tessa I understand what you want, but you’re still not well, and like you said, we’re about to be engaged. Once we’re married, you’ll have every right to whatever you want. I’ll give you whatever you desire then.”
His reasoning made sense, but I didn’t believe it. I was desperate to become Mrs. Holbrook, and securing intimacy with Caden was the only way to ensure that.
“It’s late now. You should go back and get some rest,” Caden said in a gentle tone.
To me, it sounded like an outright dismissal, and my heart sank. I stood there for a while, staring at him, before finally grabbing my clothes and leaving, utterly dejected.

Jasper’s injuries were almost completely healed now. During the time I had been caring for him, the werewolf doctor had visited regularly to check on his progress.
“Mr. Sullivan’s injuries are no longer serious,” the doctor stated. “He can return to light work, but he should avoid overexertion for a while longer.”
Upon hearing the news, Jasper lit up with a real, genuine smile.
I let out a relieved breath and nodded, smiling back. “Alright, doctor, I’ll make sure he takes it easy.”
With that, I followed the doctor out of the room to finalize the discharge process. Jasper’s release had already been picked up by several media outlets.
A crowd of reporters had gathered outside the hospital, eager for any news. The moment Jasper and I stepped outside, they surged toward us, blinding us with their camera flashes as they snapped close–up photos.
I did my best to avoid their questions, and fortunately, there weren’t as many reporters this time as there had been during our previous outing. Jasper and I were able to get into the car and head back to the filming location without much hassle.
Once inside the car, Jasper let out a deep sigh, leaning back in his seat. “Seeing them outside when we left really caught me off guard.”
I chuckled lightly. “At least the set is fully sealed off from the outside now, and security’s been increased. Plus, everyone will be so happy to see you back.
“By the way, we should head back to the company first. You just got out of the hospital; you need to rest a bit more before going back to the set.”
“No need,” Jasper replied. “I really miss everyone, and we need to catch up on the filming schedule. We can’t afford to fall behind too much.”
“Jasper-”
“Rosaline, just trust me. I’m an actor, after all. Filming is my job, and working overtime doesn’t bother me.”
Seeing his determination, I decided not to argue any further.
We chatted as we arrived at the set, and by the time we got there, the staff was already there, waiting to greet us. Jasper walked onto the set with his usual confidence, raising his hand to wave at the busy crew and other actors.
“Hey everyone, I’m back!”
“Jasper, how’s your injury? Do you need to rest more?”
“Jasper, it’s so good to see you back! It’s been so weird without you here; I always felt like something was missing. How are you feeling now?”

Everyone agreed with nods, but Jasper shook his head.
“No need,” he said, smiling at me. “I’ve been lying aroul in the hospital for days. The doctor said I can start working again, so let’s get to it.”
“But-” I hesitated, still concerned.
“It’s fine,” he reassured me, gently patting my hand. “Were behind on the schedule, and we need to catch up if we want to submit the film to the festival on time.
Seeing his resolve, I sighed and nodded. “Alright, let’s get started. No breaks, everyone. Let’s get to work!” the director called out, and the set immediately buzzed with activity.
While Jasper had a few solo scenes to catch up on, most of his scenes involved Naomi. During the time Jasper had been recovering, I knew Naomi hadn’t wasted a moment. She had been practicing with other actors and refining her craft.
She and Jasper were playing a couple who had been separated by unfortunate circumstances, and their chemistry was vital for their scenes. Naomi had been performing exceptionally well, especially during the emotional moments where she had to gaze at Jasper.
As a result, when it was time to re–shoot their intimate scenes, they worked together effortlessly.
After two hours of filming, Jasper was visibly impressed When the director called “cut,” he turned to Naomi with a wide smile and said, “Naomi, I didn’t expect you to improve so much! It’s only been a few days since I last saw you, but I’m really impressed.”
Naomi blushed, clearly surprised by the compliment, but quickly lowered her head, smiling humbly. “I’ve been learning a lot from the senior actors on set. But if you’re saying that, it means my hard work is paying off, right?”
Jasper chuckled softly. Throughout the filming, I had been sitting behind the director, observing the actors closely–watching their movements, expressions, and lines.
Naomi’s progress was evident, and her gaze toward Jasper … it almost seemed too real to be just acting.
This young woman, it seemed, was deeply invested in Jasper.

I saw Jasper and Naomi chatting, so I walked over with smile. “Naomi, you’ve been doing an amazing job. The chemistry you two share while working together impressive. If you keep this up, you’ll surely become one of the top actresses in no time.”
Thank you, Rosaline! I’ll work hard!” Naomi beamed, giving a slight bow in appreciation.
I laughed and waved my hand dismissively. “Come on, we’re practically family now. I can tell you’ve lot of effort into your acting. No need to be so modest about it.”
Suddenly, an idea crossed my mind, and I turned toward the busy staff and actors. I clapped my hands to gather everyone’s attention. “Alright, everyone! To celebrate Jasper’s successful discharge today, I’ve decided to treat everyone to dinner at the Wisteria Hotel tonight. Don’t forget to join us after work!”
“Yay!” the crew responded cagerly, and the mood on se became even more lively.
By evening, the rest of the staff and actors headed to the Wisteria Hotel in small groups. I had already booked the banquet hall on the second floor since the crew hadn’t had a team–building event in quite some time.
The hall was almost full, packed with the staff and actors from the set. Laughter and conversations filled the air, and people began jokingly encouraging others to perform, earning cheers and applause.
“Jasper, you should stick to lighter food for now. You just got out of the hospital,” Naomi said, carefully picking food for him with a polite and graceful smile.
I sat not too far from them, feeling a sense of contentment. Naomi was hardworking and humble–she truly was a wonderful person.
“I’m going to step out for a moment,” I said quietly to my companion before heading toward the restroom. As I touched up my makeup in front of the mirror, a female werewolf emerged from the restroom.
She looked surprised upon seeing me, then her face brightened as she exclaimed, “Rosaline, is that you?”
I turned to face her and immediately recognized the familiar face–Anna.
I quickly returned her smile. “What a coincidence, Anna! What brings you here?”
Anna glanced toward the outside before responding, “I’m meeting someone for dinner here. I didn’t expect to bump into you. Are you here with friends?”
I shook my head. “It’s a company gathering. As the boss. I’m treating everyone.”
“Ah, I see! You’re amazing.” Anna laughed. She looked at me for a moment before pulling a beautifully wrapped tube of lipstick from her bag and offering it to me.
“Since we ran into each other today, I wanted to give this to you. I hope you don’t mind.”
I looked at the lipstick with some confusion. “What’s this?”
“This is a lipstick I love using when I’m abroad. It’s a plum color. Your skin is so fair; I’m sure it’ll look stunning on you and brighten your complexion. Consider it a thank you for taking me to the hospital last time. I was planning on giving it to you when we crossed paths, but this is a nice surprise.”

“Oh, but I glanced at the lipstick again, feeling uneasy about accepting a gift for no reason. My hand was about to reject it when Anna pushed it back into my hand.
“Come on, take it. I’m giving it to you as a friend. I insist” Anna smiled and started to walk away. “I have to go now. They’re all waiting for me.”
I watched her leave with a slight frown. For some reason, something about Anna’s friendliness felt a bit over the top. Even though she had just returned from abroad, it seemed unusual for her to be so generous with a stranger so quickly.
On an odd impulse, I ripped open the lipstick’s packaging and twisted off the cap.
The red lipstick emerged, and when I brought it close to my nose, a strange, unsettling scent filled the air. It wasn’t the typical perfume scent or the usual artificial fragrances added to lipsticks.
“Alpha, something’s not right with this lipstick.” Freya’s voice suddenly interrupted my thoughts.
I froze for a moment, then leaned in to smell it again. My brow furrowed as the realization struck me. I scraped a small amount of the lipstick with my fingernail and rubbed it onto the silver chain around my neck
I quickly washed off the part from my hand.
“Rosaline, you’ve been in the bathroom for so long. The director and everyone else have already played two rounds of their game.”
I returned to the table and got into a cheerful conversation with my colleagues. About half an hour later, one of them noticed my necklace and called out, “Rosaline, did something get on your necklace? It’s turned black.”
I looked down and saw a dark patch on the silver chain My heart sank.
Freya was right. That lipstick had definitely been tampered with.

I forced a smile and deflected, “Maybe it’s just from brushing up against something. It’s fine. I’ll clean it up when I get back. Sorry about that. Let me just send a quick message to my friend.”
Taking advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention, I pulled out my phone and sent Anthony a message. “I’ve met a woman recently named Anna, who just came back from Hoorn. Can you look into her for me?”
The reply came quickly. “Got it.”
Dinner didn’t wrap up until around 9:00 p.m. Despite the doctor’s repeated warnings for Jasper to avoid drinking too much while recovering, he was quite drunk by the time we left, his body slumping heavily against mine.
“You all go ahead. I’ll drive him back.”
After saying my goodbyes to the crew, I finally managed to get Jasper into the passenger seat. I drove him back to the villa, took the keys from his jacket pocket, and opened the door. I half–dragged the inebriated werewolf to the bedroom.
“Rosaline… “Jasper’s face was flushed from the alcohol, and his words came out slow and muddled. The smell of liquor hit me as soon as he spoke. I paused for a second, then helped him onto the bed.
I was about to go to the fridge to find some yogurt to help sober him up when, as I turned, he suddenly grabbed my wrist.
“Rosaline… Rosaline, I care about you so much… Please don’t go. Don’t leave me, okay? I’m serious about you. Can you be my girlfriend? Caden … he’s not good enough for you, not good enough…
11 ”
His words were slurred and jumbled–probably from the alcohol–but I could still understand most of it.
I frowned and tried to pull my wrist away, but he held on tighter, his words becoming more bold.
I gritted my teeth and managed to free my hand, grabbing the blanket nearby to cover him up, then gently tapped his forehead. “You’ve had too much to drink. Get some sleep.”
After I said that, Jasper mumbled a few more words, but I didn’t have the energy to listen. I felt awkward, and the situation with Jasper’s feelings for me was starting to become a complicated mess.
I let out a sigh of relief and glanced at him once more. He was silent now, probably asleep.
I was about to step out of the room when the phone in my pocket rang.
I pulled out my phone to see it was Caden.
“Caden, what’s up?”
His voice was different than usual–serious, even a little stern. “Where are you? Why aren’t you home?”
b
“Oh… “I lowered my voice deliberately, “Jasper got discharged today, so I picked him up and we went to the set. Then, to celebrate, the whole group went to the Wisteria Hotel for dinner. Are you home?”

“Mmm… ” I heard Jasper mumble in his sleep from the bedroom, and I immediately hung up, slipping quietly out of the villa.
Caden’s POV:
When Rosaline walked into the room, she saw me sitting motionless on the couch, staring at her.
She paused for a moment, offering a faint smile before placing her keys on the shoe rack in the hallway and hanging her coat by the door.
“Caden, what are you doing here … Does Heidi know you’re here?”
“She doesn’t,” I replied coldly, my gaze narrowing as I noticed the strong smell of alcohol on Rosaline.
“Did you drink at dinner?”
I was clearly upset. It wasn’t just because Rosaline had been around Jasper–his actions at the hospital had already left me unhappy, and now, hearing Rosaline speak so quietly, it didn’t seem like she was just coming back from the hotel.
Rosaline hesitated, then vaguely nodded. “Yeah … Everyone was really happy, so we had a little drink.”
She walked over to sit beside me, but before she could say anything, I grabbed her wrist and pulled her down next to me.
My body leaned in close to hers, so close that if I moved just a little, I could kiss her.
But this time, I didn’t.
Instead, I tilted my head slightly to sniff near her left shoulder before pulling back to look at her. “That’s not your usual perfume … Where have you been?”
Rosaline immediately understood what I meant and, after thinking for a moment, she decided to tell the truth. “Jasper got drunk, so I took him back to his house … But when you called, I was about to head back.”
Jasper, again.
I had already heard his name from Rosaline more times than I cared to count, and now, hearing it again set me off. I pulled Rosaline into my arms, gripping her chin and kissing her forcefully.

Rosaline’s POV:

This situation wasn’t new to me–I’d experienced it countless times before, yet it always seemed to catch me off guard.
But soon, I found myself accepting the reality of it. With a rush of desire flooding my senses, I leaned in and kissed Caden. The intensity of the moment overwhelmed us both, and we ended up falling onto the couch. Caden’s lips left a trail of kisses along my check, down my neck, and across my collarbone, each touch sending shivers through me.
Freya’s excited howls echoed in my mind, and I couldn’t help but shudder as Caden’s hand brushed against my skin.
“Caden… Caden, slow down…”
The heat of the moment was building with each passing second, and my fragmented words seemed only to fuel the fire. Caden eagerly kissed my earlobe, his hands reaching around to unfasten the clasp of my top.”
”
“Not now… We can’t … ” I whispered, pulling myself back to reality.
Caden, understanding exactly what I meant, hesitated and slowly stopped his movements. We lingered for a moment, sharing quiet words and stolen breaths, until finally, he stood and gently lifted me into his arms.
I leaned against his chest, my mind still reeling from the intensity of everything that had just happened. It left me feeling strangely bashful.
Caden nipped at my earlobe. “Rosie, I don’t like how close you’re getting to Jasper. I’m the one who’s supposed to be your man. I hope you’ll think about how I feel … ”
“Okay, I get it. I’ll be careful. Don’t worry,” I murmured, taking his hand in mine and lowering my head slightly, speaking softly.
People often felt insecure when they were in love.
“Oh, by the way,” I added, shifting my focus. I turned my head to meet Caden’s gaze. “I met a woman
recently—her name’s Anna. She’s the one I almost hit with my car on the way to visit Jasper at the hospital…
“What?” Caden was clearly taken aback. “Are you okay?”
I couldn’t help but laugh lightly, shaking my head. “I’m fine. Don’t worry. I took her to the hospital afterward. She told me she had just returned from abroad and didn’t have many friends. Then tonight, when we were having dinner at Wisteria, I ran into her again. She gave me a lipstick as a thank–you gift.”
I stopped laughing and removed the necklace from around my neck, handing it to Caden.
“But there’s something strange about that lipstick–it was poisoned. I think she might be trying to harm me.”
“Harm you?” Caden’s face darkened, his eyebrows furrowing as his gaze dropped to the dark stain on the silver chain. His worry deepened as he saw the mark.

I gently placed my hand over his, trying to calm him. “I’m fine, really. I caught it in time, and I’ve already had someone look into who Anna really is.”
Caden relaxed a little, though his concern didn’t entirely fade.
Just then, my phone rang.
It was Anthony.
“Wilda, I found something. Anna… is actually Candice.”
I frowned immediately, stunned by what I was hearing.
Candice? Didn’t she fall off a cliff? But they never found her body at the bottom.
Caden, who had been watching my face, saw my reaction and, sensing something was wrong, silently mouthed, “What’s going on?”
I looked up at him, trying to mask my shock, and spoke into the phone, “I understand. I’ll take care of it later. I have some things to handle right now.”
After hanging up, I turned to Caden, my heart racing with a mix of disbelief and resignation. “We found out that Anna is actually Candice.”
“What?” Caden’s voice was filled with shock. “Candice? Didn’t she fall off a cliff? How … how is she alive?”
I could hardly believe it myself. The fact that Candice had survived for all this time seemed like some twisted twist of fate.
“I don’t know. Maybe she’s just lucky. She fell from such a height, and somehow she survived. But she had plastic surgery. When I saw her, she didn’t look anything like she used to.”
Caden paused, clearly concerned. “So what are you going to do now?”
We both knew Candice’s temper well. If she had gone to such lengths before, she would undoubtedly stop at nothing to ruin me if given the chance.
I sighed, my resolve clear. “Since Candice wants to find me, I’m not going to run away from this.”
Caden nodded, taking my hand in his, his voice firm. “Alright, just be careful. Don’t underestimate Candice. If anything happens, let me know immediately.”
“I will,” I whispered, resting my head on his shoulder.
Caden smiled, the anger that had once burned in him now softened. But he gently cupped my chin and gave me one last piece of advice.
“I trust you. But you need to stay away from Jasper. Otherwise, I’ll punish you.”

Yura’s POV:

I had been staying at home for the past few days, unable to bring myself to stay in the hospital any longer. Even though I knew I was pregnant, the reality was too difficult for me to face. It weighed on my mind, sometimes keeping me awake at night.
I wasn’t very far along in my pregnancy, and my belly hadn’t changed much yet, but every time I touched my stomach, I was reminded of the small life growing inside me.
A life that came about by accident.
And my parents still didn’t know. If they found out, they would be furious, and I didn’t know how I could move forward from that.
I pressed my hands to my head, feeling overwhelmed and on the verge of breaking down.
In my desperation, I decided to call Rosaline.
She arrived at the hotel quickly, and when she saw me sitting by the window looking exhausted, her expression filled with concern. She walked over to me and asked, “What’s wrong, Yura? Are you feeling unwell?”
I shook my head, pulling Rosaline down to sit beside me. After a long pause, I spoke quietly, “Rosaline, I think I should terminate this pregnancy. Nathan and I were never meant to be, and having this baby would be a burden for both of us. No child should have to grow up in a single–parent household. I’ve made my decision. After the procedure, I’ll go back to Fostrau.”
“You’re going back to Fostrau?” Rosaline seemed surprised. She thought for a moment before gently trying to change my mind, “Yura, have you really thought this through? An abortion can cause serious harm to your body. And Nathan is the father–he has a right to know. You should consider him. Sure, he’s younger and can act immature sometimes, but he’s also responsible. You saw that for yourself in the hospital, didn’t you?”
“But I’m still in love with Timothy … ” I sighed softly, my voice barely audible.
I understood what Rosaline was suggesting, and I also knew Nathan had been good to me, but my heart couldn’t let go of the fact that the Moon Goddess had chosen Timothy as my destined mate. Even though we were apart, my thoughts still returned to him.
I always had this sense that the bond between Timothy and me wasn’t completely severed.
I looked into Rosaline’s eyes, shaking my head as a heavy sigh escaped my lips. “I still haven’t figured things out. I can’t forget Timothy, and this baby … ”
Rosaline gently placed her hand on mine and spoke softly, “I understand what you’re feeling, but you really need to think carefully. You look so tired, Yura. Those dark circles under your eyes… You haven’t rested in days, have you? Lie down for a while. I’ll stay here and watch over you.”
“Okay,” I whispered, nodding. I lay down on the bed, and Rosaline carefully tucked me in, sitting by my side, keeping watch over me.

Each step felt as if I were walking through thick mud, my mind stuck in a loop of Yura’s words about wanting to end the pregnancy. Feeling numb, I opened the car door and sat down, preparing to head back to the set.
But my mind was elsewhere during the entire drive, and before I knew it, tears were streaming down my face. I was so distracted that I barely avoided other cars, swerving instinctively when needed.
Yura’s face kept flashing in my mind, her eyes filled with rejection when she turned me away earlier. The ache in my chest clouded my thoughts, and in my daze, I lost my grip on the steering wheel. The car swerved sharply toward the stone bridge railing.
Bang!
A deafening crash erupted as the car slammed into the barrier, sending a cloud of dust and smoke into the air. The impact threw me violently back into my seat, and I tasted blood in my mouth as everything around me blurred into a deep red.
My eyelids felt heavy, and I struggled to keep them open. My fingers trembled as I reached for my phone in my pocket.
With shaking hands, I dialed Yura’s number and held the phone to my ear, my mind barely able to focus on anything except repeating her name.
“Hello.” Her voice came through the line, calm yet tinged with exhaustion. “Do you need something?”
“Y–Yura … “I forced a weak smile, my voice barely a whisper.
Blood dripped from my forehead, staining my phone. I gasped, feeling a sharp pain in my chest, as if it might tear me apart.
“What’s going on? Where are you? Are you—”
Before she could finish, I interrupted her, my voice cracking. “Yura, listen … I … I don’t know how much longer I have … Maybe … I don’t have long left … I’m… sorry for everything…

As I watched Nathan’s eyes flicker, as though he might slip away for good, I desperately cried out, “Nathan! Don’t close your eyes, stay with me…. stay with me!”
From afar, I could hear the distant sound of an ambulance siren, its headlights flashing toward us. I quickly turned and waved my arms, yelling as loud as I could, “Over here! We’re over here!”
The ambulance arrived swiftly, and several werewolf doctors and nurses jumped out, immediately loading Nathan onto a stretcher. I didn’t care that my hands were drenched in blood; I followed closely behind them as they rushed him into the ambulance.
Inside, I held onto Nathan’s hand tightly, refusing to let go. Only when the medical staff started performing basic first aid did I reluctantly release my grip. Still, I stayed by his side the whole time, tears streaming endlessly down my face.
My thoughts were a whirlwind of panic. I couldn’t even begin to imagine what I would do if Nathan didn’t pull through. I hadn’t even had the chance to call Rosaline.
At last, we reached the hospital. I ran alongside the gurney but was stopped at the doors to the operating
room.
I couldn’t stay still, pacing back and forth in a state of panic, overwhelmed with guilt and regret. When a werewolf doctor emerged, I rushed to him, breathless with worry. “Doctor, how is Nathan? Is he in critical condition?”
The doctor met my gaze with a serious expression. “His condition is very serious. He has multiple severe injuries, and he’s in a deep coma. We’ve already contacted the Alpha of the Storm Pack. Given the circumstances, we need his permission before we can proceed with surgery.”
“Please, save him. I’m begging you, please save him!” I had no idea what else to do. In my panic, I grabbed the doctor’s hand, pleading with him until he promised he would do everything possible. Slowly, I released my grip and helplessly turned my gaze back toward the operating room doors.
Rosaline’s POV:
I had called Yura three times, but there was no answer.
A crease formed on my brow, and a sense of unease settled over me. I dialed again, not expecting much, but this time, Yura’s voice came through the phone–filled with panic and fear.

“Yura, didn’t you pick up earlier?” I had meant to check in, to ask about her and Nathan, but hearing the distress in her voice, my tone shifted to one of concern.
“Where are you? What’s going on?”
At the sound of my words, Yura completely broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. Between sobs, she gasped out, “Rosaline, Nathan … Nathan had an accident. He’s in the hospital, and … I don’t know what to do…

After giving Rosaline the hospital address, I hung up and collapsed into a chair in the hallway, my hands covering my face as the tears fell.
Nathan… I hope he would be okay….
Suddenly, a growl echoed through the hallway, its volume growing louder as it approached. I looked up and saw two massive wolves charging down the corridor. The other people in the hall scrambled out of their way, panic rising in the air.
The first wolf reached me quickly, and I instantly recognized the commanding presence–the Alpha of the Storm Pack, Nathan’s father, Sebastian Lynch.
The Alpha lifted his head, eyes scanning the operating room door. In an instant, he shifted into his humnan form. The other wolf, a female, followed quickly, transforming into a woman with striking beauty, her features strongly resembling Nathan’s. She must be his mother, Zera Lynch.
“Doctor, doctor! How is my son? Is he going to be okay?” Zera rushed forward, her face filled with panic, tears on the edge of falling.
The doctor, seeing the Alpha and Luna, dropped to his knees in respect. He pulled out a surgical consent form and handed it to them, bowing his head as he spoke, “Alpha, your son’s condition is critical. He needs surgery immediately. Please, sign this. If we wait any longer, it may be too late.”
“Of course, we’ll sign it right away.” Sebastian grabbed the pen and quickly signed the form. He handed it back to the doctor and looked him squarely in the eyes, his voice tense. “Please, do whatever it takes to save my son. Storm Pack cannot lose its heir!”
The doctor nodded anxiously, and the door to the operating room closed again, the “No Entry” sign turning red.
Sebastian and Zera stood by the door, their anxiety palpable. Zera clung to her husband, sobbing as she asked what to do. Sebastian wrapped his arm around her shoulders, trying to remain calm, though his eyes were filled with worry.
Then their gazes turned toward me, sitting nearby. Their expressions shifted immediately. Zera’s face twisted with rage as she stormed toward me and slapped me hard across the face.
“It’s your fault! I know who you are–you’re the woman my son’s in love with! If it weren’t for you, none of this would have happened! What are you still doing here? Get out! Leave!”

Zera pushed me away with force, and although I shielded my face, I didn’t fight back. I knew deep down that most of the blame for what happened lay with me, I just let her release her anger, tears falling down my face one after another.
“I’m so sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Lynch, 1–I didn’t… “I sobbed, my head bowed in constant apology.
As the Alpha of the Storm Pack, Sebastian needed to keep his composure. He stepped forward and gently pulled Zera back, his voice calm but firm as he said, “This is a hospital. Stop causing a scene–it’s interfering with the doctors who are trying to save Nathan!”
Though Zera calmed slightly at his words, her gaze still burned with fury as she looked at me. Sebastian didn’t speak further, but his grim expression spoke volumes.
He turned to me, his voice thick with emotion. “Ms. Nadine, right? We’ve heard of you. While we’re not sure what exactly happened between you and my son, right now he’s in the operating room, fighting for his life. As parents, this is the hardest time for us. If you have nothing more to say, please leave. My wife and I don’t want you here.”
Hearing those words, my sobs became louder, the guilt weighing on me even more.
Rosaline’s POV:
I rushed into the hospital, panic rising sharply in my chest.
When I reached the hallway leading to the operating room, I spotted Yura immediately. I hurried over, placing a hand on her shoulder, my voice urgent.
“What happened? How did Nathan end up in a car accident? What’s going on?”
Before she could answer, I felt a powerful, commanding presence of an Alpha. I looked up to see Zera, her face streaked with tears, and Sebastian, his expression grim and silent.
I quickly lowered my head, speaking politely, “Mr. and Mrs. Lynch, I’m Nathan’s superior and Yura’s friend. If there’s anything I can do to help, please let me know.”
Zera glanced at me through tear–filled eyes, but quickly turned away to wipe her face.
I bit my lip, feeling helpless. I had no answers–only the ability to stay by Yura’s side, gently guiding her to a seat as I tried to comfort her. “It’s going to be okay… Don’t worry. Nathan’s strong. He’ll make it through.”
Hours passed before the werewolf doctor emerged from the operating room.
Everyone immediately moved forward, but before anyone could speak, the doctor’s face tightened, his voice filled with dread. “I’m sorry, but his condition is critical. The injuries are severe, and … it’s possible he won’t survive the night. Please, prepare yourselves.”
“What?!” Yura’s eyes widened, her body swaying as if she might collapse. I rushed to catch her.
Hearing that her son might not make it, Zera let out a heart–wrenching wail and crumpled into Sebastiani arms, unconscious. He immediately signalled to a nearby werewolf doctor for assistance, and after some effort, they managed to revive her.

Zera, now awake, couldn’t process the devastating news. She turned into Sebastian’s shoulder, her sobs muffled as she cried in despair.
Yura watched, her own tears flowing freely. I clenched my lips, my heart heavy. Nathan was a close friend of mine too. I never imagined things would come to this.
I helped Yura sit beside me as we both stared anxiously at the operating room.
Soon enough, Nathan was wheeled out and transferred to the ICU. His face was ghostly pale, with an oxygen mask strapped to his face.
Yura started to move toward him, but Zera stopped her with a sharp command.
The Alpha and Luna of Storm Pack had no intention of allowing the woman they blamed for their son’s accident to come near him.
With red, swollen eyes, Yura collapsed against my shoulder, trembling with grief.
I could feel her pain deeply, and I held her tightly, offering whatever comfort I could. I understood her inner turmoil–she couldn’t bear leaving Nathan’s side but didn’t know what to do.
I gently patted Yura’s back, trying to calm her. “Don’t be so upset … I’ll go check on him soon. His parents need some time to come to terms with this…”
Yura, fragile as a leaf, clung to me, her sobs wracking her body. “Rosaline, I … I never meant for this to happen… I couldn’t handle it, the baby coming so unexpectedly. I didn’t know what to do. If … if Nathan doesn’t wake up, then I–I…
“He will, he will! You have to believe that he’s strong, and he’ll be fine…” I kept reassuring her, gently patting her back.
At that moment, I remembered the witch’s stone. I quickly called Hughie and then led Yura to Nathan’s room. Saying I was Hughie’s apprentice, I convinced Nathan’s parents to step out for a moment.
Taking the witch’s stone from my pocket, I placed it on Nathan’s chest, holding onto a fragile thread of hope as I began chanting the healing incantation.
I wasn’t certain it would work. After all, Hughie had warned me that with Nathan’s severe injuries, he couldn’t guarantee the stone would have any effect.
By the grace of the Moon Goddess, half an hour later, Nathan, who had remained unconscious for so long, finally showed signs of life.

I walked over to Yura, gently placing a hand on her shoulder and speaking softly. Right now, Nathan’s greatest wish is to see you. Talk to him, maybe it will help him wake up sooner.
Yura nodded, her red, swollen eyes filled with emotion, then turned to face Sebastian and Zera. The th leaders of the Storm Pack, who had once been cold and distant toward her, now seemed less hostile. They gave her a small nod, silently giving their permission for her to approach their son.
Grateful, Yura nodded back, then walked to Nathan’s side, carefully taking his hand in hers. In a trembing voice, she whispered, “Nathan, please… please wake up.
“Actually… I always knew you loved me. You’re a good person, but I … I was in love with Timothy. After everything that happened, I didn’t know how to accept you or your kindness. I never expected you to gett into a car accident. I’m so sorry…
“If you wake up … I’ll be yours. I’ll marry you. Please, just wake up.”
Yura stayed by Nathan’s side, holding his hand through the long night.
And against all odds, Nathan pulled through. He fought his way back from the brink of death.
I let out a quiet sigh of relief, slipping out of the hospital unnoticed.
The 18th was fast approaching–Heidi and Caden’s engagement day.
Heidi’s POV:
Tomorrow was the 18th. I had been eagerly waiting for this day to come.
Recently, Caden had been visiting more often, sometimes joking around with me and chatting. It only made me more certain that I was about to become the future Luna of Eclipse Pack,
“Caden, do you think there will be a lot of people at our engagement ceremony?” I asked, leaning against him, filled with excitement.
I had dreamed of marrying Caden for years, and now that Rosaline was no longer a threat, I knew that our engagement. Caden would be mine and mine alone.

not forget, you’ve done nearly everything on your own. I’ve been busy lately, and you’ve handled it all by yourself. People are going to be amazed by everything you’ve done.”
“Really?” I asked, my smile lighting up as joy surged through me.
It was undeniable. I had begun imagining our life together after marriage.
In the past few days, I had been running around preparing for the ceremony. From coordinating the venue to the champagne, the pastries, the little decorations, even the couple figurines–I made sure everything was perfect. Even Everett had surprisingly stopped bothering me for a while.
Seeing Caden’s nod only made my happiness grow.
I hesitated briefly before speaking again, “Caden, with the engagement tomorrow, could we visit the Eclipse Pack old mansion? I know Eleanor and Queenie don’t like me, but don’t you think it would be better to receive the blessing of the Alpha and the elders of the pack?”
Caden furrowed his brow slightly and fell silent for a moment. A knot formed in my stomach, but before I could ask again, he nodded. “Okay, I’ll bring you there now.”
“Really?” I looked up at him, surprised and thrilled.
He nodded again. “Of course.”
I quickly freshened up, and together, we drove to the old mansion.
I couldn’t hide my joy, walking beside Caden with a soft, affectionate smile, my arm looped through his.

Queenie and I were sitting together, sipping afternoon tea, when I looked up and saw Heidi and Caden walking in. My mood shifted instantly.
Queenie, unable to hide her displeasure, visibly tensed up. Her expression changed, and her voice rose as she pointed directly at Heidi, her tone full of authority. “Who let you into the Moonshadow Pack? Get out!”
Heidi took a small step back, her voice soft but steady. “1-1 just came with Caden to see the place. Our engagement ceremony is tomorrow.”
She glanced toward Caden as she spoke. Caden, holding her hand, squeezed it tighter, his gaze locking onto Queenie with a firm, unwavering look. “Show some respect. Tessa and I are getting engaged tomorrow.”
I was taken aback, a heavy feeling settling in my chest. I couldn’t stop glaring at Heidi, my dislike for her growing with each passing second.
She was nothing more than a singer from a bar, and now she was trying to transform herself into the future Luna of Eclipse Pack?
It was absurd, a fantasy too ridiculous to entertain.
“Caden, I can’t agree with this,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm, but the seriousness in my words was unmistakable.
Heidi looked at me nervously, gathering all her courage to speak. “Mrs. Eleanor, I know you won’t accept me, but … I truly love Caden. And we’re getting engaged tomorrow… Could you please give us your blessing?”
“You’re asking for blessing?” Queenie’s anger flared, and the presence of someone like Heidi only made her furious. The polite facade she had tried to maintain shattered instantly.
Caden stepped forward, placing himself between me and Heidi, pulling her behind him as he met my gaze. “Tessa and I are in love. No matter what you think, she will be my wife, the future Luna of Eclipse Pack. I brought her here today just to show her the house. Nothing more.”
I clenched my teeth, struggling to keep my anger in check. All I wanted was to shift into my wolf and tear this woman apart.
Once Caden finished speaking–as if we didn’t exist–he and Heidi walked past me and Queenie, heading toward the study.
“Come on. I’ll show you the other rooms.”
Queenie and I stood frozen, watching them walk away, helpless.
Queenie slammed her hand against the sofa. “Did you see that, Aunt Eleanor? What are we going to do?”
I sighed, feeling drained. “Why are you rushing? Don’t worry. This woman won’t even get past the door of Eclipse Pack.”

On the drive back from Eclipse Pack’s old mansion to New Moon City, Heidi sat in the passenger seat, glancing at me every now and then. She seemed like she wanted to say something but wasn’t quite sure how
to start.
“What’s on your mind?” I asked, noticing her hesitation.
Heidi fidgeted with her hands, her voice a little shaky. “Earlier, I saw that Mrs. Eleanor and Queenie looked upset. Do you think they-”
“What’s making you worry?” I interrupted, not letting her finish. “You’re marrying me, not them. There’s no need to be nervous.”
That was exactly what Heidi needed to hear. Her face brightened immediately, and a smile spread across her lips. “Caden, you’re the best.”
By the time we arrived in New Moon City, it was already evening. After dinner, we each went off to our separate activities, but at 8:00 p.m., Heidi knocked on my door.
I had just finished sending a message to Rosaline when I heard the knock. Quickly, I sent her a message telling her to not reply before slipping my phone under my pillow and calling out, “Come in.”
Heidi entered the room, wearing nothing but a sheer lingerie set. The fabric barely covered her, leaving most of her body exposed.
“Caden, I’m surprised you’re still up,” she said softly.
I sighed inwardly and turned my gaze away, focusing on the book in my hands. “It’s still early. But … why aren’t you dressed more appropriately? Is there something you need?”
“No, nothing at all…” Heidi’s tone was unusually tender as she made her way over to the bed and cautiously sat down on the edge. She moved closer, draping her arm over mine and resting her hand on my chest. “I’m just feeling a little uneasy and couldn’t sleep. I wanted to be with you … Caden, tomorrow is our engagement day, and I’m so happy.”
As she spoke, her hand traced slow circles over my chest, her fingers brushing lightly over my shirt. She was intentionally trying to undo the buttons.
“Tessa, don’t.” I stopped her hand before it could move any further.
This had become a familiar pattern. Heidi had tried similar things before, and I’d always used the same excuse to send her away. I hadn’t expected her to try again tonight, but at least the engagement ceremony was happening tomorrow. After that, I’d be free.
“Caden,” Heidi spoke, looking confused and aggrieved, “we’re getting married soon. I’ve already told you that I’m willing … You don’t need to worry. Seriously.”
Though reluctant, I played along with the act.
I reached up and gently ruffled Heidi’s hair. “You said it yourself–we’ll be married soon. No need to rush

Finally, my words seemed to calm her down. She nodded, but when she turned to leave, I could sense her hesitation. Slowly, she said, “I’ll go back to my room now. You should rest too, Caden.”
“Okay,” I replied, nodding. As soon as the door closed behind her, I let out a long breath.
That was a close call,
Heidi’s POV:
The next morning, I woke up early and went to the kitchen to make breakfast for Caden.
Today was finally the day, and as I cooked, I couldn’t help but hum in excitement.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind me. I stopped what I was doing and turned around, a smile already forming, only to find Caden standing there in his work clothes, clearly ready to head out.
I froze, confused. “Caden, aren’t we … getting engaged today? What’s going on?”
Caden blinked in surprise, then glanced down at his outfit before smiling, as if remembering something. “Oh, I have a meeting at the company today. I need to go to work, but I’ll be back later.”
I set the breakfast on the table, my concern growing. “You’re working today?”
Caden walked over to me and gave my back a gentle pat. “Don’t worry. It’s just a quick meeting. I won’t be gone long. Our engagement ceremony is in the evening, and I’ll definitely be there on time. You won’t be alone.”
I relaxed slightly at his reassurance, wrapping my arm around his shoulders and smiling up at him. “Okay, I’ll wait for you.”
As long as I could marry Caden, I didn’t mind whether it was early or late, just as long as it happened.

After Caden finished his breakfast and left for work, I felt a wave of happiness, but his sudden departure also left me with a bit of boredom. To pass the time, I decided to call my old friend, Amy Hersey, who used to sing with me at a bar.
“Amy, where are you? Got time to hang out?”
“Well, well, look who’s calling! I saw the news–aren’t you getting engaged to the heir of Eclipse Pack today? Why are you thinking of me now?” Amy’s voice came through the phone, thick with envy.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Stop teasing me! The engagement ceremony is in the evening, and Caden had to go to work this morning. Anyway, I’m thinking of gathering the old crowd from the bar. Let’s get our hair and makeup done. I can’t be looking like a mess tonight.”
“Wow, so now that you’re about to be the Luna of Eclipse Pack, you’re all high–maintenance! Alright, sure. The girls were just talking about you the other day. Work hasn’t started yet, so should I come over, or are we meeting you there?”
“I’ll send you the address. You can come over, and we’ll go together,” I replied quickly, hanging up and texting Amy the address of my apartment.
At the upscale salon, I placed my membership card on the counter as usual and asked for my regular stylist. Smiling, I said, “Make it elegant, but not too flashy. Today’s my engagement ceremony.”
The stylist smiled knowingly, nodding with understanding. She was well aware of the event and knew that with such a wealthy patron, she had to pay extra attention.
“Understood, Ms. Tessford. Just sit back and relax–you’ll be the most beautiful bride.”
Her words hit the mark, and I smiled even more brightly.
The group with me were all former fellow singers from the bar, and we had remained close. Now, they were looking around the salon in awe, admiring its luxurious surroundings.
A round–faced singer sat beside me, gazing at my reflection in the mirror, her eyes full of envy. “Wow, look at Tessa now. Ever since she got with the heir to Eclipse Pack, she’s totally different–more refined, stepping into places we used to only dream about. I can’t even imagine how much money it takes just to go in and out of places like this.”
“Exactly,” another short–haired singer chimed in, resting her arm casually on the back of the chair and teasing. “But, you know, Tessa was always the most popular one at the bar. Her voice was incredible, and she’s Mr. Holbrook’s childhood friend. No surprise that they’re finally together.”
She gave my shoulder a playful pat. “Tessa, you’re definitely the most successful one among us now. You’ve got Caden, the most eligible bachelor in town. Just don’t forget about us once you’re living the high life.”
“Right, right. You’ve got this different air about you now. After becoming Mrs. Holbrook, you’ll be rubbing elbows with all those wealthy heirs. If you ever run into one, be sure to introduce us—after all, we were friends, right?”

“Alright, alright, just a little joke. No harm done.” I smiled, quickly brushing off the awkwardness.
Since Caden and I had been making headlines lately, I had become the focus of media attention. As soon as I walked into the salon, reporters were already gathered outside. As soon as I was done with my styling, they rushed in, eager to interview me.
“Hello, Ms. Tessford. I’m a reporter with Hotshot Entertainment. I’d like to ask, after your engagement ceremony with Mr. Holbrook today, when do you plan to officially get married? We’ve heard that you used to be a singer at a bar, but now that you’re marrying the heir to Eclipse Pack, the future Luna, do you feel any different?”
This reporter was clearly prepared. The questions were sharp, and the singers who had been laughing and joking just moments ago now looked awkward and uneasy.
Amy tugged at my sleeve from behind, but I gave a slight shake of my head, signaling her not to worry. I raised my head, meeting the reporter’s gaze calmly. “Yes, it’s true. I used to sing at a bar with some friends, but I don’t think that’s something to be ashamed of. It’s honest work. As for Caden, some might think I don’t deserve him, but we love each other. I’m going to be a good wife to him, the best Luna I can be, and I’ll try to learn more about business and finance so I don’t drag him down.
“As for the wedding … ” I smiled, glancing down briefly before looking back up. “That’s something for Caden and I to decide together. There’s plenty of time, and with his busy schedule, I don’t want to distract him with this. As long as Caden loves me, that’s enough.”

My response had been flawless, leaving no room for argument. However, toward the end, I made sure to leave just enough space for it to come across as a subtle dig at Rosaline. After all, her engagement to Caden had been called off because of me, and that had caused quite the media stir.
Lately, I had been asked this type of question numerous times, so I knew exactly what the reporters were looking for.
The entertainment journalist, though initially hesitant, was satisfied by the time it was all over.
“My friends and I are busy now. If you want to interview me, we can arrange another time and place,” I said to the reporter.
“Alright, well, since you still have things to take care of, we’ll be on our way. Sorry for disturbing you today. Goodbye.” The reporter had gathered all the material they needed and left, satisfied with their work.
The singers gathered around me, their expressions filled with a mix of envy, sarcasm, and surprise. Their faces showed a blend of emotions, but their words were all filled with praise.
“Wow, I didn’t realize you could handle situations like these so well now. You’ve really changed.”
“Yeah, you’ve got it made now. But that reporter earlier was awful. What, just because we sing at bars, we’re supposed to be less than everyone else?”
They kept chatting, but I shrugged it off with a smile. “It’s nothing. This happens all the time now, and I’ve gotten used to it. Anyway, I still need to finish my makeup, so give me a few more minutes.”
Queenie’s POV:
I was sitting on the couch, scrolling through my feed when I stumbled upon a post about Heidi’s engagement ceremony, which was scheduled for tonight. The post even had a video of her with the bar singers at the salon.
I froze, my eyes widening. By the time I finished watching the video, my anger had reached a boiling point. I stormed over to Aunt Eleanor to complain. “Aunt Eleanor, look at what Heidi’s saying. She really thinks she can go from nothing to royalty, talking about being a good wife–this is a direct slap in your face!”
Aunt Eleanor frowned as she took the phone from my hands, watching the video.
She barely made it halfway through before her face darkened, her frustration evident.
The Luna of Eclipse Pack, now visibly angry, slammed the phone onto the couch and muttered, “We gave in a little, and now she thinks she can take over everything! She has no idea who she’s dealing with!”
I had been waiting for Aunt Eleanor to react like that. Together, we marched out the door, our steps full of fury as we headed straight for the salon.
When we arrived, Heidi was still getting her makeup done, surrounded by her group of singer friends, who were chatting among themselves. As soon as Heidi heard the door open, she turned around, and when she saw us, her face immediately soured.
“You’re still here, huh? How shameless of you to talk about being a good wife!” The anger I had been holding

But Aunt Eleanor and I had underestimated Heidi’s friends. As soon as they caught my sarcasm, they stormed forward, grabbing their handbags and swinging them at us without hesitation
I prided myself on being a refined lady, and Aunt Eleanor, as the esteemed Lona of Reline Puck worst never engage in physical confrontations–especially not with a group of lowly bar singers.
The situation quickly escalated into chaos, with Heidi’s friends attacking us like wild animals, Pure Flower and I were clearly outmatched. We couldn’t engage in a full–on fight with these women, especially with cor status, so we had no choice but to retreat, humiliated and defeated, leaving the salon.
Aunt Eleanor’s hair was a mess, and her face was flushed with anger. She didn’t speak as we made our way back. I, too, had a few red scratches on my face.
The more I thought about it, the angrier I became. Heidi was nothing but a cheap escort, and they had the nerve to call her a bar singer? It was all just a cover for the truth. Who did she think she was, fighting with me?

I was consumed by a singular thought: I had to make Heidi pay. I cut straight to the point, speaking with icy resolve. “I need you to do something for me. Kidnap Heidi. You know who she is, right?”
Tyler hesitated for a moment before replying, “Yeah, I know. She’s the one getting engaged to your cousin, right? That’s all over the news.
“But… Tyler trailed off, his tone uncertain.
“But what? Spit it out,” I snapped, irritation creeping into my voice.
His tone lightened, but there was a seriousness in his words.
“Kidnapping isn’t something to take lightly, Queenie. If you want me to go through with this, I will. But here’s the catch–I’m taking a big risk for you. If it works out, I want you to be my girlfriend. That’s the deal. Will you accept?”
My lips pressed into a tight line, my brow furrowing slightly.
I knew Tyler had feelings for me, but I had never felt that way about him. He was the heir to a small wolf pack, but I always saw him as a backup, never considering him seriously.
In my eyes, no one could compare to Caden, and it was only him that I truly wanted.
But now, Tyler had me cornered. I didn’t want to agree to his terms, but I didn’t have much choice.
He was the only one who would go this far for me, the loyal simp, Tyler.
“Queenie?” His voice brought me back to the moment, and I reluctantly replied.
“You did say the deal comes after the job is done, right? It’ll depend on how you handle it. If you actually kidnap Heidi, then …
I clenched my teeth. “I’ll agree to your condition.”
Although my answer was vague, Tyler took it as a promise. He laughed with satisfaction and replied, “You’ve got yourself a deal. Wait for my message.”
After hanging up, I exhaled deeply, a sense of triumph washing over me.
Heidi wouldn’t see this coming. I would show her what I was capable of!

Inside the van, panic set in as I tried to speak, my words muffled by the hand over my mouth. “Who are you? What do you want? You should know I’m-”
Before I could finish, one of the werewolves slapped duct tape across my mouth and tied my hands behind my back with more tape.
“You’ve only got yourself to blame for messing with the wrong person,” one of them muttered coldly.
I was terrified. I didn’t know what was happening, and all I could do was make muffled noises.
The van drove further and further, eventually pulling into an abandoned warehouse on the edge of town.
They roughly yanked me from the van and shoved me into the warehouse, sending me tumbling to the cold, hard floor.
I looked around in panic, instinctively trying to crawl backward.
Then, out of the shadows, Queenie appeared. She looked down at me with a smug grin, her expression dark. She gave a silent signal to the werewolf standing nearby. He ripped the duct tape off my mouth with a cruel yank.
The moment I saw Queenie, everything fell into place.
Ignoring the pain from the tape being torn off, I glared at her, my voice shaking with rage. “Queenie! Are you out of your mind? Let me go! What are you doing?”
“What am I doing?” Queenie scoffed, as if my question was laughable. “I’m just trying to see how you’ll manage, now that Caden’s not here to help you.”
Her eyes gleamed with malice, her gaze never faltering.
As her words sank in, I quickly shot back, “Queenie, this is kidnapping, and you know that’s a crime. Caden and I are supposed to be getting engaged tonight. If he can’t find me, he’ll be frantic! You have to let me go!”
Queenie laughed dismissively. “Who do you think you are? Just some bar singer–do you really think you belong with us, the Eclipse Pack?”
After that, her expression suddenly turned cold as she locked eyes with me. Her voice lowered to a venomous whisper. “Let me make this clear: Caden is mine. No one will take him from me.”
She reached behind her and pulled out a knife, the blade catching the light as she stared at me with an insane grin. “What do you think, Heidi? If your face is ruined … do you think Caden will still want you?”
My heart raced, and panic set in as I instinctively tried to back away.
“Queenie, don’t come any closer … Wh–what are you planning to do? You’re committing a crime!”
She was completely unhinged. She had lost all sense of control.
Step by step, Queenie moved closer, her eyes glinting with cold fury. “I’m going to ruin your face. Then Caden will only want me. He’ll be mine forever.”

I shut my eyes tightly, bracing for the unbearable pain that was sure to come.
“Scared now? What were you thinking before? You were planning to marry Caden, weren’t you?”
Uneasy, I slowly opened my eyes, only to be greeted by Queenie’s mocking grin.
Seeing my reaction, her smile grew even more arrogant. “Did you think I’d let you off so easily? Heidi, let me tell you what I really plan to do”
She clapped her hands twice, then turned to the east and shouted, “Come out!”
A sinking feeling overtook me as I followed her gaze. Four or five rogue werewolves emerged from behind the pillars, cach radiating a dangerous air. They strolled up to Queenie, their eyes locked on me, sweeping over my body with blatant lust.
“Who are you?” My voice trembled, a terrible premonition gripping my heart.
The blond rogue at the front clicked his tongue and smirked. “So it’s her?”
Queenie nodded, her smile filled with malicious satisfaction. “Yes, she’s all yours.”
“What … what are you doing?!”
As the rogues advanced, my panic reached its peak. I knew exactly what was about to happen, and my voice shook with terror as I confronted Queenie.
She took two steps back, looking at me like I was an idiot. “What am I doing? Fulfilling your wish, of course. Didn’t you want men? Are they enough for you?”
“Once you’re ruined, let’s see how you dare attend that engagement party. Heidi, you brought this on yourself when you dared to covet my man!
“And I won’t stop at just ruining you–I’ll record the whole thing as a gift for your engagement party. Imagine the surprise when they see this footage at the event. Won’t that be delightful?”
Queenie’s laughter echoed as she raised her phone, switching it to recording mode. She aimed the camera at me and the approaching rogues.
“No, stay away! Don’t-” I could no longer endure the fear and pain welling up inside me, my voice trembling. But those rogue werewolves didn’t care. They sneered viciously as they closed in on me.
Rosaline’s POV:
I checked the time–it was already 6:00 p.m. The engagement party should be starting soon.
I stood up to get ready, but just then, my phone rang. It was Anthony. “What’s wrong?”
“Something’s happened! Wilda, I just checked Heidi’s location–she’s been kidnapped! She’s in an abandoned auto factory about 1,600 feet east of the outskirts!” Anthony’s panicked voice came through the
line.

I exhaled sharply, pressing my fingers against my temple. “Alright, I understand. Keep monitoring Heidi’s movements. I’ll figure something out.”
Immediately, I called Caden and informed him about the situation.
“Caden, we can’t let anything ruin our plan tonight. If something happens to Heidi, everything will fall apart. You need to go save her–make sure she’s safe!”
“Understood,” he replied without hesitation.
Caden’s POV:
The news stunned me. After hanging up with Rosaline, I immediately called my Beta. I grabbed my jacket and rushed out of my office and into my car.
My hands clenched into fists. Everything had built up to this night. We had spent so long setting up this trap to lure out the mastermind behind Heidi–our entire plan hinged on this moment. If we failed now, we would have to start from scratch.
At the same time, my Beta had swiftly gathered several strong werewolf bodyguards. We split into multiple cars and raced toward the outskirts.
Heidi’s POV:
“No, don’t come near me! Don’t!”
Tears streamed down my face as I struggled against the rogues. But soon, one of them pinned my wrists, his disgusting face leaning in toward mine.
His breath reeked, making me dizzy with nausea. I twisted away desperately.
With a sickening rip, my dress was torn apart and thrown to the floor. Several werewolves began groping me without restraint, their rough hands roaming freely. One of them was already leaving hickeys across my chest and neck.
The blond rogue’s grin widened as he reached between my legs.
“No! Please, I’ll give you money–anything you want! Just let me go!” I pleaded, my voice breaking with sobs. My wrists were already bruised from struggling, and my entire body was trembling with fear.
Queenie held up her phone, her face twisted with sadistic glee.
“Save your breath. Do you really think someone’s coming to rescue you? You wanted men, didn’t you? Shouldn’t you be thrilled?”
Tears blurred my vision, and my wrists were already bruised from struggling. At this moment, all I felt was despair and agony.
A burly rogue cackled, unbuckling his belt and forcing my legs apart. Just as he was about to thrust his big thing into me, a furious shout erupted from the doorway. “I’d like to see who dares touch her!”

Caden’s POV:
Queenie froze, turning around in disbelief.
The moment she saw me, her face went deathly pale.
Heidi was also stunned for a second before breaking into a relieved smile. She cried out with all her strength, “Caden! Save me, I’m here!”
Before the gang of werewolf thugs could react, my werewolf bodyguards lunged at them, either locking their throats or delivering powerful kicks to their backs, sending them crashing to the ground. These low- tier werewolves were no match for the specially trained guards of the Eclipse Pack. In mere moments, they were all groaning in pain, unable to even stand.
Queenie was so terrified she couldn’t move, only able to watch as I approached.
I shot her a glare before kneeling down, wrapping my suit jacket around Heidi, and pulling her into my arms. I gently patted her back, soothing her with a soft voice, “It’s okay now. You don’t have to be afraid anymore. I’m here, and I’ve got you. Everything’s okay.”
When she felt safe, Heidi broke down, sobbing uncontrollably in my arms. “Caden, you finally came … I was so scared.”
She clung tightly to my sleeve, sobbing uncontrollably as if trying to release all her pent–up fear.
I looked down, my eyes darkening slightly. After briefly pausing, I patted her back again, reassuring her softly, “It’s over now. You’re safe.”
Queenie stood frozen in place, not daring to make a single move. Meanwhile, Heidi gradually calmed down, though her teary eyes still burned with hatred as she glared at Queenie.
“Caden, it was her! She ordered people to kidnap me. She said that if she ruined me, I wouldn’t be able to marry you!” Heidi sobbed again as she spoke, her voice trembling with grievance.
Queenie’s face turned ashen, but she still shot Heidi a resentful glare. However, in my presence, she dared not act rashly.
I stared coldly at Queenie. I had always known she harbored ill intentions, but I never imagined she would be this reckless–nearly sabotaging the plan Rosaline and I had been orchestrating for so long!
I turned around and glared at Queenie. She shuddered, nearly dropping her phone, and even her voice started to tremble. “C–Caden, listen to me, it’s not what you think.”
“What else do you have to say?!” I looked at Queenie coldly, my voice laced with anger. “Didn’t I tell you not to lay a hand on Tessa? And we’re about to get engaged–do you think you can just ignore me?!”
Fury surged through me, my glare so cold that Queenie instinctively stepped back, fear written all over her
face.
She knew just how terrifying I could be when truly enraged.

With a loud thud, Queenie dropped to her knees, groveling at my feet and kissing my shoes as she wailed for forgiveness.
I looked down at her with disdain and kicked her aside, my voice low and commanding. “Since Tessa is unharmed, I won’t pursue this matter for now. But don’t think you can get away with something like this again. You’re out of control! Now get lost!”
Without sparing her another glance, I draped my jacket over Heidi, lifting her into my arms and striding out of the warehouse.
Heidi’s POV:
I fixed my eyes on Caden, seeing how he reacted just now.
It was clear–he still cared about me.
Caden carried me to the car, setting me down in the passenger seat before instructing the werewolf driver, “Take Ms. Tessford to Argent Hotel for the engagement ceremony.”
Hearing this, I felt something was off. Holding onto the car window for support, I looked at Caden in confusion and asked, “You’re only sending me? Caden, aren’t you coming with me?”
As I spoke, I instinctively reached out and grabbed onto the sleeve of his shirt.
Caden patted my hand, his voice gentle. “Don’t worry, everything’s fine now. I just need to take care of a few things at the company. I’ll be there soon. You go ahead and freshen up at the hotel so everything goes smoothly later.”
As he spoke, he lightly tapped my nose and added with a smile, “My bride has to be the most beautiful one there. After what Queenie did to you, you should get to the hotel early and freshen up. Be good.”
Hearing his words, I smiled to myself. Since he put it that way, I had no reason to object, so I nodded in agreement.
The driver took me to the hotel, where I washed my face. Soon after, a professional stylist arrived to redo my makeup. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, I let out a breath of relief.
If I make it through today, I will be Caden’s fiancée–the future Luna of the Eclipse Pack. Then we’ll see who dares to look down on me.

I sat in the room, and although I felt a bit uncomfortable hearing the stylist’s words, I still nodded, slightly lifting the hem of my gown and gracefully stepping out.
The banquet hall was resplendent with gold and opulence. Handsome werewolf attendants moved deftly through the crowd, balancing champagne trays in one hand.
Most of the guests were prominent figures from Rivemon’s business world and influential members of various werewolf clans. Many were Caden’s business partners, and numerous reporters and cameramen from major media outlets gathered outside.
Seeing such a large crowd, I was momentarily taken aback. However, I quickly composed myself, putting on a warm and graceful smile as I skillfully greeted the werewolf VIPs who came up to me.
The ever–watchful reporters, of course, seized the opportunity. As soon as they spotted me, they swarmed over with eager questions.
“Ms. Tessford, today is your engagement ceremony with Mr. Holbrook. How are you feeling right now?”
“Ms. Tessford, why isn’t Mr. Holbrook here with you on such an important occasion? Did you plan to appear separately?”
“Ms. Tessford-”
One question after another bombarded me. When I heard inquiries about Caden, I subtly furrowed my brows but maintained my polite smile. I leaned slightly toward the microphones and answered, “Well, Caden has been very busy with work lately. He just informed me that he might be a little late. But with so many guests attending today, as one of the hosts, I couldn’t just stay inside and keep everyone waiting, right? That would be impolite.”
I chose my words carefully, ensuring they were flawless while preserving Caden’s reputation. After all, his absence at this moment was somewhat inappropriate.
“Moreover, I’m very happy and honored that so many of you have come to witness Caden and my engagement. I’ve finally been able to be with the one I love, and I hope that everyone here today also finds their own happiness.”
After I finished speaking, the reporters gradually dispersed. The werewolf assistant beside me whispered a reminder, “Ms. Tessford, the ceremony is about to begin. We should head to the stage. You are the star of tonight’s event.”
“All right, I understand.”
I agreed, but I couldn’t shake my unease. I glanced toward the entrance, but no sign of Caden remained.
The ceremony was about to start–why wasn’t he here yet?
I frowned slightly, a sense of foreboding creeping into my heart. But I quickly forced it down.

A soft voice urged me from the side, snapping me back to reality. Left with no choice, I turned and followed the werewolf assistant toward the stage.
As I walked forward, I inadvertently turned my head and saw a familiar figure among the crowd.
Everett Lloyd.
My heart skipped a beat, and my hand instinctively clenched.
Today was my engagement ceremony with Caden. Although I had approached him under Everett’s orders, I had finally made it this far. If Everett was here now, could he be planning to ruin everything?
I stared at him for a few seconds, but to my surprise, he seemed completely indifferent. He was engaged in casual conversation with others, exuding a polite and refined demeanor–a stark contrast to the ruthless man who had once commanded me.
When his gaze met mine, he even smiled slightly. I quickly averted my eyes and pretended nothing had happened, continuing forward.
Don’t panic, don’t panic. Everett is only here as a guest. He won’t do anything. I reassured myself, adjusted my mindset, and tried to relax.
Once I was engaged to Caden, I would become the future Luna of the Eclipse Pack. By then, even Everett wouldn’t be able to control me. If I could win over Caden’s heart and get him to deal with Everett for me, I would no longer have to live as a puppet.
I was so close to freedom.
“Ladies and gentlemen, good evening. I am tonight’s host, and I’d like to welcome you all to the engagement ceremony of Mr. Caden Holbrook and Ms. Heidi Tessford. As we all know, they have overcome numerous hardships to be together.”
After the host’s customary speech, the audience responded with polite applause. My heart pounded with
excitement.
“And now, let us welcome one of tonight’s main protagonists–Ms. Heidi Tessford!”

“Understood.”
After working a little longer, I turned off the webpage on my screen once Beta left and gazed out at the dim streetlights outside the window.
The show was about to begin.
Heidi’s POV:
6:55 p.m.
The host finally finished the introductory speech, stepped aside, and gestured for me to take the stage.
I smiled charmingly and slowly walked up, waving to the guests.
“Good evening, everyone. I’m Heidi Tessford. I’m honored that you could join Caden and me at our engagement ceremony. I know many of you are Caden’s business partners and may not be familiar with me yet, but I’m sure he will be pleased to see you all here.
“This ceremony was planned in a rush, so please forgive any shortcomings in hospitality. Caden is still handling some matters at the company but will be here soon. I ask for your patience.”
Although I spoke with confidence, deep down, I was uncertain. Eclipse Pack had been overwhelmed with work lately.
But I believed in Caden.
He wouldn’t leave me alone here.

A reporter, clearly eager for drama, threw out the question. The guests all turned their attention to me.
I was momentarily stunned but quickly recovered. Smiling gracefully, I shook my head and replied, “Caden. has his own business to manage. He works hard for our future, and as his fiancée, how could I be unreasonable and make a fuss?”
The reporter, momentarily speechless, nodded awkwardly and withdrew the microphone.
7:00 p.m., time for the engagement ceremony to begin.
I stood alone on the stage, glancing occasionally to ask the people waiting nearby if Caden had arrived or when he’d be here. Every time, the answer was the same, no, not yet.
I called him a dozen times, but he didn’t pick up.
Anxiety gnawed at me, and my hands clenched tightly together.
The guests below began whispering among themselves.
“Ms. Tessford, should we proceed with the ceremony?”
The host, sensing something was wrong, approached me cautiously.
I was irritated but forced myself to remain composed. “Let’s wait a little longer.”
But before I could panic, someone in the crowd spoke up. “When is Mr. Holbrook arriving?”
“Exactly! This is a huge event, and he’s not even here. Does he really want to get married?”
The murmurs grew louder, and my nerves stretched thin. But I knew I couldn’t show weakness.
I quickly composed myself and announced, “Caden just called me. There was an urgent issue at the company, but he’ll be here shortly. Please be patient.”
The restlessness in the room gradually subsided. I finally exhaled in relief, only to hear high heels clicking against the marble floor at the entrance.
My head snapped up instinctively, and my heart clenched at the sight of Rosaline standing at the doorway.
A wave of panic washed over me as I stared at this unexpected intruder.
Tension, hatred, and shock surged through me all at once.
Why was Rosaline here?
The crowd also turned to look. Some wore puzzled expressions, while others smirked in anticipation of the spectacle. The air in the room shifted as people exchanged knowing glances.
Rosaline walked in with a calm, commanding presence that instantly silenced the room. Her composed demeanor sent an inexplicable unease coursing through me.
“Rosaline, what are you doing here?” I demanded loudly.

I let out a cold laugh, looking at Heidi on stage. To me, she now seemed like nothing more than a clown. “Surprised to see me? Or are you just disappointed that instead of Caden, you got me?”
Heidi gripped the microphone tightly. Whether out of guilt or nervousness, when I confidently approached her, she instinctively stepped back and nearly tripped over her long gown. At the last moment, I reached out to steady her.
Still smirking, I picked up the microphone from the stand at the front of the stage and roared, “I apologize for bringing everyone here tonight, but there will never be an engagement ceremony.”
“What? No engagement ceremony? What’s going on?”
My words caused an uproar. The guests looked at each other in confusion, and the murmurs grew louder.
“Because,” I continued, glancing at Heidi casually, “this so–called Ms. Tessford standing beside me is not Caden’s long–lost first love, Tessa.”
“What?!”
The revelation sent shockwaves through the crowd, and the reporters immediately snapped away, their cameras flashing non–stop.
Heidi’s POV:
My eyes widened as my hands involuntarily clenched the fabric of my dress, panic surging through me.
How did Rosaline know this secret?
I never told anyone!
I stared at her in disbelief, and in my desperation, I lost all rationality and lunged at her.
“You’re lying! You’re slandering me on purpose! You’re just jealous, jealous that I’m the one with Caden! Get out! Bodyguards, throw this crazy woman out!”
I desperately tried to scratch at Rosaline, but she dodged my attacks effortlessly. I had no idea how she had become so agile. She didn’t move like a low–tier Omega.
Frantically, I turned to the werewolf bodyguards, screaming at them, but they stood as still as statues, unmoved by my cries. The only sound in the grand hall was my own shrill yelling.
Then suddenly, the room fell silent. All eyes turned toward the entrance. I froze in place.
Caden had arrived.

Then, I pointed at Rosaline on stage, my voice full of venom. “Caden, it’s her! She’s trying to ruin our engagement! She’s jealous of me being with you. Please, make her leave!”
I still clung to a fragile hope that Caden would side with me. But he didn’t even look at me. With a swift motion, he pulled his hand away, his gaze cold and distant. His following words crushed me completely.
“What are you afraid of? Is what Rosaline is saying not the truth? I never intended to get engaged to you, This entire event was just a trap set for you.”
Without sparing me another glance, Caden strode up to the stage toward Rosaline.
I stood frozen, paralyzed by fear, as my whole body trembled uncontrollably.
Taking the microphone from Rosaline’s hand, Caden addressed the crowd calmly yet sincerely. “I apologize for being late and making everyone attend a non–existent engagement ceremony. I’m truly sorry.”
I bit my lip hard, my mind reeling as I stared at the two of them on stage. I was on the verge of breaking down.
“No. No.”
I muttered in a daze, then suddenly lunged toward the stage, throwing myself at Caden’s feet. Tears streamed down my face as I clung to his hand, desperately trying to explain.
“No! Caden, listen to me! When we were little, at the wooden cabin, I protected you from that black bear and led you out! Later, we ran separately, and I fell off the cliff, trying to distract the kidnappers to save you! Don’t you remember? I’m Tessa! I am!”
I screamed until my throat was raw, and my face flushed red with desperation. Only my own helpless sobs echoed back at me.
But Caden looked at me with an icy, indifferent gaze as if I were a stranger.
Rosaline’s POV:
Standing beside Caden, I watched Heidi’s dramatic breakdown with cold detachment. When she finished her performance, I gave a soft chuckle and stepped forward to face her directly.
“Heidi, even now, you’re still lying? You’re standing before all these people, claiming you’re Tessa? Your shamelessness truly knows no bounds.”
“What are you saying? What do you mean?! I am Tessa!” she screeched, her voice hoarse.
I let out a scoff of pure disdain.
She was struggling in vain now. Striding over to her, I pointed at her exposed back. Her backless gown made
easy for everyone to see the scars there.
it
I gestured toward those scars and announced in a loud, clear voice, “The scars on Heidi’s back? They weren’t from a childhood accident or a fall off a cliff. These scars were inflicted on purpose.”
The entire hall erupted in an uproar as soon as my words fell.

But she quickly recovered, glaring at me with fury and shouting. ‘What nonsense are you spouting? If you claim these scars aren’t from my fall off the cliff, then show me proof! If you have no proof, you’re slandering me–slander?”
It seemed like those were the only words she knew. After speaking, there was even a hint of desperate satisfaction in her eyes, as if she had regained her confidence.
She was convinced I had no proof.
This woman was foolishly overconfident.
“Would I be here today if I didn’t have proof?” I gazed at her coolly.
For a brief moment, panic flashed across Heidi’s face, and she suddenly seemed unsure where to look.
Seeing her reaction, I let out a cold laugh and turned toward the entrance. I raised my voice and said to a werewolf attendant by the door, “Bring the lady in.”
Heidi’s POV:
Who is Rosaline calling?
I forgot to cry momentarily as my eyes locked onto the entrance, watching it anxiously.
Soon, a blonde female werewolf in her thirties walked in.
The moment I saw her, alarms went off in my head.
That’s Rose, the werewolf doctor I hired to create my scars!
Why is she here?
She nodded when she saw the she–wolf, then turned to the crowd and said, “I went through a lot of trouble to find her. This is the werewolf doctor who created Heidi’s wounds. If anyone knows exactly how she got those injuries, it’s her.”
She turned to Rose with a smile. “Ms. Rose, please tell us everything.”
Rose took the microphone, pausing for a moment before speaking. “Here’s the truth–those marks on Heidi’s back aren’t from a fall. Someone came to me beforehand and asked me to use specially made solutions and materials to fake those wounds.
“And,” Rose hesitated momentarily before dropping an even more shocking revelation. “That person specifically requested that the fake wounds be made to look exactly like the scars someone would have after falling off a cliff.”

Though their voices weren’t loud, they were enough to drive me mad.
I bit my lip and glared at the doctor, seething with resentment.
I refused to give up. I turned my hateful glare toward Rosaline–I couldn’t let everything I worked for slip away. No way!
“Rosaline, do you think just one doctor is enough to prove everything you’re saying? That I’m not Tessa?” she scoffed, her voice laced with defiance. “Let me tell you, no one knows more about what happened between me and Caden than I do! If I’m not Tessa, then explain this, how would I know about the time Caden was kidnapped? Huh?”
Rosaline’s POV:
Heidi indeed refuses to admit defeat, huh?
I shook my head, sighing–half exasperation, half certainty. Then, I looked at her with confidence, raising an eyebrow slightly. “That’s because you’re the daughter of one of the kidnappers. You witnessed the entire abduction of Caden and Tessa all those years ago. Someone who knows every detail of what happened could easily use it to deceive people over a decade later. Am I right?”
Cold sweat broke out on Heidi’s forehead, but she still shook her head in denial. “What nonsense! How could I be a kidnapper’s daughter? Rosaline, you’re slandering me! You’ll be held legally responsible for
this!
“Slandering you? You’re still using that excuse?”
I was speechless at her stubbornness. I couldn’t understand how she still had the energy to keep lying.
“You won’t give up until you hit a dead end, huh?” I sighed before turning toward the entrance. “Mr. Smith, if you don’t mind.” Soon, a middle–aged werewolf, around 50 years old, slowly walked in.
Heidi eyed the man with suspicion, clearly not recognizing him.
I smiled faintly. “Heidi, you might not believe this, but this is one of the werewolf police officers who investigated Caden’s kidnapping case all those years ago. I even went to the police station multiple times to find him. Now that the original investigator is here, surely he won’t be lying?”
With that, I handed the microphone to the man. “Mr. Smith.”
Allen took the microphone and spoke in a steady voice. “I was one of the officers investigating the Eclipse Pack kidnapping case 15 years ago. As I listened, an icy numbness crept through my limbs, locking me in place. A chill seeped up from the soles of my feet, spreading like frost along my spine, and a cold sweat beaded on my forehead before trickling down.
I would never forget the day my father was taken away in handcuffs. My stepmother, terrified of being dragged down with him, quickly severed connections. The morning after his arrest, she made me one last breakfast before leaving. She never came back.
However, all I felt was relief back then. No more beatings and no more cold, judgmental stares.
Even now, I thought I was finally about to start a new life, but this damn werewolf officer stepped out of nowhere and destroyed everything!
Allen hesitated briefly before continuing, “During the recording process, we learned that the villager’s name was Marcus Ford. According to his statement, four of them were originally guarding the two children that night. However, he also mentioned that his wife, a woman with Ludwig surname, and their daughter, Heidi, were also present.”
The moment my name left his lips, silence thickened in the room. Other than Rosaline and Caden, every single person glanced at me in disbelief and shot me dismissive glances.
A bitter cold settled deep in my chest. I had spent over a decade burying this scar. Yet, here it was, ripped open, raw, and bleeding, in front of everyone.
I thought I was on the brink of happiness. Had I already lost it?
A heavy silence swallowed me as memories came rushing back.
After my stepmother abandoned me, I was lonely and had no one to take care of me. The werewolf officer sent me to the welfare home, a place filled with other werewolf children.
At first, I thought I would make new friends, mainly because I had no regrets about leaving that kind of home.
However, the moment they learned about my origins, it didn’t matter even if no one wanted me, none of them wanted to play with me. They threw insults when they thought I couldn’t hear, and some didn’t even bother hiding their hostility.
I still remember it vividly. When I was attending the welfare home class and had just returned to my seat. I reached for my pencil case, flipped it open, and froze as I saw a fat hairy caterpillar inside.
“Ah!” I screamed. My fear was pure instinct. It was break time, and there were many people in the class. Everyone cast a strange look at me.
Some were filled with doubt, confusion, or mockery. All in all, none of them were kind.
A group of werewolf boys, no older than seven or eight, burst into laughter, clapping their hands in delight. Their eyes sparkled with mischief as they stuck out their tongues and pulled faces at me.

The class erupted in agreement. Some of them just wanted to join in on the fun, others simply enjoyed watching a spectacle unfold. At first, I fought back, but in the end, all I received was harsher punishment from the teachers and even worse revenge from those little wolves. Eventually, no matter how much rage simmered inside me, I learned to swallow it down.
That was the day I made a vow to myself. One day, I would rise above them all. I would make them regret ever looking down on me. They would learn the hard way who Heidi Tessford truly was.
Then came the day I was called to the dean’s office. Waiting for me, along with the dean, was a werewolf man dressed in a sharp, spotless suit. Everything about him was immaculate.
“Heidi,” the dean greeted me with a bright smile. “This is Mr. Ford. He’s here to adopt you! He just came back from Aurion. If you go with him, you’ll finally have a new home. Isn’t that exciting?”
I didn’t answer right away. I tilted my head, studying the refined werewolf before me. Then, after a long silence, I asked just one question. “Will life be better than it is now?”
The refined werewolf blinked as if taken aback by my bluntness, and then he chuckled. “Of course. Come with me, and I guarantee your life will be a thousand, no, ten thousand times better than this.”
“Alright.” I agreed without hesitation. I was desperate to escape this awful place.
After that, I left the welfare home behind. The refined werewolf took me to Aurion, and it was there that I met Everett and learned the truth about who had adopted me.
Rosaline’s POV:
I watched Heidi. Her body froze in silence as her thoughts were lost in some distant place. Yet, whatever she was thinking and wanted to say, she couldn’t save the current situation.
A small smile curled at my lips as I reached into my pocket and pulled out a recording pen. Then, I pressed play. The crisp, undeniable voices of Everett and Heidi spilled into the air.
At that moment, something in her finally cracked. She lunged forward, trying to snatch the device from my hand, but I had already raised my hand first and said to the gathered crowd, “You all heard that, didn’t you? Both physical and testimonial evidence are right here. Heidi is not Tessa. Her entire identity is a lie! And, let’s not forget, she’s been in contact with Everett for a long time. If I’m not mistaken, you used to live in a welfare home. Wasn’t he the one who adopted you?”
“What nonsense are you talking about?!” Heidi’s face twisted in fury, her voice raw and unsteady. She was losing control, but she still wanted to argue at that moment.
“No! That’s not what happened! Y–You’re the one who… !”
“Oh?” I gazed at her and smiled. “If I’m talking nonsense, why are you so flustered? Or are you just afraid I’ll say more? You’re afraid that if I keep going, everyone will figure out the truth that you were the one who leaked Eclipse Pack’s bid to BPL for the Azure Bay project?”

“You …”

Heidi was stunned in place as if she had been nailed to the ground. The entire venue had fallen into an eerie silence. The weight of the revelation was simply too much for everyone to process.
“Are you wondering how I found out?” I asked, my tone deliberately casual, yet my gaze locked onto Heidi’s eyes before continuing, “Secrets never stay buried forever. If you didn’t want to be exposed, you shouldn’t have done it in the first place.”
“Well, now everyone knows, right? Heidi was sent by Everett to approach Caden. Her real purpose was to steal confidential information about the Eclipse Pack, paving the way for BPL to swallow Eclipse Group whole!”
My voice was not loud, yet every word was powerful and truthful.
Heidi pressed her lips together, brows tightly furrowed. I could see the gears in her mind turning, frantically searching for a way to explain everything.
“You have no proof. You’re accusing me of approaching Caden to steal secrets, but do you have any actual evidence that proves I leaked information to BPL?”
I exhaled slowly, then snapped my fingers. Then, I picked up the remote control and pressed play. The massive screen on stage flickered to life. The footage was unmistakable. It was security camera footage from Caden’s study.
Heidi’s face drained of color. She opened her mouth but couldn’t force a single word out.
“See for yourself. That’s you, sneaking into Caden’s study and stealing the blueprint for the Azure Haven. If you were Tessa, would you have done something like this?”
The silence that followed was suffocating, and then the audience below exploded in talk, with some pointing fingers at Heidi with hateful and disdainful expressions.
Heidi’s POV:
I stared at the screen in shock, my head shaking involuntarily. I opened my mouth, but no words came. My legs gave out beneath me, and I collapsed onto the stage, trembling. Finally, I choked out a sob and whispered the truth.
“Yes… It was me. I did everything … but Caden, Caden … ” Then, in a fit of desperation, I turned my tear- streaked face toward Caden, grasping at the hem of his sleeve. “I did it for you! I only wanted to always stay by your side! And I never gave the blueprint to Everett! You have to believe me! You have to!”
My voice was hoarse, and I had no idea how it had ended up like this.
Today was supposed to be my engagement day with Caden. It was supposed to be the happiest, most dazzling moment of my life. So, how could this happen?
I was utterly devastated. My entire body trembled as I stared at Rosaline and Caden before me. A wave of unwillingness, of sheer refusal to accept reality, surged through me like wildfire.

“No! It’s not like that!” I sobbed, my voice breaking as hot tears streamed down my face.
Finished
I grabbed Caden’s arm. I was crying so hard I could barely breathe. “Caden, please, listen to me! Just let me explain! Yes, Everett did tell me to steal the Azure Haven plans, but I didn’t do it! I swear! It’s because I love you! Everything was because he threatened me!”
“So, do you admit that you’re not Tessa?” Rosaline stood above me, looking down at my crumpled form with nothing but scorn in her voice.
Caden’s POV:
I wrenched my arm away from her grasp. A sharp wave of disgust surged through me as I looked at Heidi. “You’re not Tessa. You’re just the daughter of the kidnappers who took me all those years ago. That’s why you knew everything, isn’t it?”
A bitter weight settled in my chest.
Once, I had truly believed Heidi was Tessa. I had clung to that belief so tightly that I even hurt Rosaline because of it. I had never imagined that Heidi was a fraud!
She had spent years deceiving me, pretending to be Tessa, hurting Rosaline over and over again, while trying to steal Eclipse Pack’s secrets.
No wonder Rosaline had instinctively known from the very first glance that Heidi wasn’t Tessa. No wonder -the closer I looked, the more cracks I began to see.
So, when Rosaline came to me and told me the truth that Heidi was an imposter, I chose to believe her for the first time, and together, we laid the perfect trap, waiting for this very moment to expose Heidi’s lies and Everett’s schemes.
“It was you! Rosaline, this was all your doing,” Heidi screamed as she suddenly thought of something. Her eyes burned with venom as she locked onto Rosaline.
“You planned all of this today! You made me believe Caden truly wanted to be engaged to me, made me let my guard down, just so you could dig up evidence against me! You planned this from the very beginning, wanting to put me in a desperate situation!” Heidi’s voice was raw with fury. “Rosaline! You did this! You set me up!”
“And what if I did?” Rosaline said lightly, casting a glance at Caden before letting out a soft, amused laugh. “People like you should’ve known from the start that secrets don’t stay hidden forever. The higher you climb, the harder you fall. Tell me, how does it feel to plummet from heaven straight into hell? You’ve done so many bad things, you deserve the outcome today!”
She let the question linger for a beat before delivering the final, devastating blow. “Oh, and one more thing. That blueprint you handed over to Everett was fake.”
