A white sports car suddenly sped out of control and came barreling toward us.
Chapter 6
To my horror, I recognized the driver–it was Annie!
“Look out!” Lily screamed, shoving me out of the way.
But it was too late. The car flew toward us like a wild horse.
In that split second, two figures rushed out–it was Sam and Leo.
None of us had seen them arrive, but now they were behind the wheel of their own car, swerving to block Annie’s path.
There was a deafening crash as Annie’s car slammed into theirs.
I stood frozen in place, stunned and terrified by what had just happened.
“Lucy! Are you okay?” Sam crawled out of the wrecked car, limping as he staggered toward me.
I looked at him, my emotions a tangled mess.
“I’m fine,” I said flatly, shaking my head.
The ambulance arrived quickly and carried the injured away.
Inside the ambulance, Sam gripped my hand tightly, his eyes full of regret and desperation.
“Lucy, I’m so sorry. I was really wrong. Please, give me another chance. Okay?” His voice trembled, and tears streamed down his cheeks.
I stared at him, feeling nothing.
“Sam, it’s over between us.” I sighed and pulled my hand away without hesitation.
Elsewhere, Leo was on his knees in front of Lily, begging for forgiveness.
“Lily, I’m sorry! I really know I messed up! Please, forgive me!” he cried, his voice hoarse and broken.
Lily stared down at him, her eyes as cold as ice.
“Leo, it’s over between us,” she said without pause, then turned and got in the car with me.
Together, we left them behind.
Annie was finally caught.
In court, she was convicted of kidnapping and sentenced to ten years in prison.
As we watched the bailiffs lead her away, Lily and I felt no sympathy.
“It’s finally over,” she said, gently squeezing my hand. There was a glimmer of relief in her eyes.
I nodded in silence.
Though the storm had passed, we both knew our lives could never go back to how they were before.
After everything came to light, Leo filed for divorce.
But the divorce took a toll on him. He started making mistake after mistake at work and was eventually dismissed from his position at the court.
He lost his career and his love. In the end, he had nothing.
Sam wasn’t any better.
The crash had shattered the bones in his right hand. He would never hold a scalpel again.
His family issued a formal warning, stating that his actions had disgraced the family name.
His position in the family fell drastically. There was even talk of removing him as heir.
Everything they once had was destroyed by their own greed and stupidity.
Sam and Leo tried repeatedly to contact us, hoping to win us back.
But, the more they tried, the more disgusted we felt.
‘Lucy, I know I was wrong. Please, just give me a chance.”
“Lily, forgive me. I’ll never do it again, I swear!”
They called us every day with different numbers, sent messages constantly, and even knelt outside our home, begging for forgiveness. But Lily and I were unmoved. Our hearts had turned to stone.

Chapter 6
“Don’t respond to them,” Lily said coldly, blocking them without hesitation. “Men like that don’t deserve our sympathy.”
Later, she went as far as calling the police to have them removed
We would never give them another chance. We would never allow them to interfere with our lives again.
Now that we were finally free of Sam and Leo, we could finally begin a new chapter of our lives.
