Chapter 2
Ethan scratched his head, his voice dripping with impatience:
“Seriously? Is this really the time to question me? If we were together for six years like you claim, wouldn’t it be normal for me to remember your rare blood type in an emergency?”
But how could I donate blood when I was still recovering from my recent miscarriage?
Even if I were eligible, why the hell should I help clean up his mess?
“I just had an abortion. I can’t donate. Find someone else!”
Ethan snapped:
“Olivia, you say you love me, but when I ask for blood, you refuse? And you’re lying about the
abortion too!”
“I never thought you’d be the kind of person to let someone die. No wonder I can’t remember ever
loving you!”
He was right–if he really loved me, he wouldn’t have faked an illness to manipulate me. He wouldn’t
have ignored my still–pale face.
And he certainly wouldn’t have forced me to donate blood for his lover!
The monitoring equipment started beeping wildly. The emergency doctor, clearly not wanting to
waste time, rushed toward the operating room.
Ethan tried to pull me along for the blood draw, but I stood my ground.
Frustrated, he hoisted me over his shoulder.
‘Olivia, whether you like it or not, I’ll owe you for this. If necessary, I’ll marry you on our wedding
day!”
In that moment, all my resistance crumbled.
Considering he once risked his life to save mine, I’d call this repayment of a debt.

Chapter 2
Watching my blood drip into the collection bag, my heart turned colder with each passing second.
Once the donation was over, Ethan rushed off with the nurse toward the operating room.
As I watched his retreating figure, I whispered, “Ethan, we’re even now.”
Leaving the donation room, dizziness hit me, and I collapsed.
When I came to, the doctor was about to scold me but just sighed instead.
“Take care of yourself. You won’t be able to donate blood again for at least six months.”
I smiled weakly and nodded.
As the doctor left, a young nurse whispered to her:
“Doctor, why didn’t you tell her we couldn’t reach her emergency contact? What if she
misunderstands?”
“She won’t misunderstand. This girl sees everything clearly. It’s just a shame she ended up with the
wrong person.”
I checked my phone and saw that the doctor had called Ethan over a dozen times.
None of the calls were answered.
Instead, he had sent a message berating me:
[Olivia, can you stop this drama? Know your place, will you?]
In that moment, I was actually relieved he hadn’t picked up.
I couldn’t even imagine the cruel words he might have used to humiliate me.
I didn’t reply. I spent the whole day in bed, too drained to move.
Outside, the sun was shining brightly. I made my way to the hospital’s rooftop garden to soak in the warmth, only to unexpectedly run into Ethan’s friends.
Each one was holding a fruit basket or flowers.
Thinking they had come for me, I instinctively turned to leave.

But instead, they surrounded me, eyeing my hospital gown with mockery.
“Look who finally showed up! Heard Ethan was stuck in the hospital with his girlfriend, so you thought you’d throw yourself a pity party, huh?”
“Donated a little blood and now you’re playing the victim? Spare me.”
“I gotta admit, that makeup looks pretty natural–doesn’t look fake at all. We always told Ethan you were manipulative, but he never believed us…”
Ethan’s friends had always seen me as nothing more than a gold–digger.
If it weren’t for him insisting they call me “sister–in–law,” they never would have tolerated me.
Now, to support Ethan’s little act, they were free to speak their minds.
When Ethan showed up to meet them, he froze when he saw me and frowned.
“Olivia, seriously? This is your big move?”
“I already promised to go through with the wedding. Are you really going to keep playing these childish games–paying off doctors and faking an illness just to keep tabs on me? What the hell’s wrong with you?”
“Do you realize how suffocating this is?”
“Let me make it clear–if you keep pulling this crap once we’re married, divorce is inevitable!”
