Chapter 757 Former Friend

Off to the side, Yvette was so anxious her eyes were turning red. I gently patted her shoulder, trying to calm her down and signal her not to take it too hard.
As soon as the press conference ended, I rushed to check Twitter’s trending topics. Sure enough, the top headline was all about the scandals surrounding Haroldene Entertainment. It was revealed that the drama between Yvette and Byron had been orchestrated behind the scenes by Haroldene Entertainment.
Even the surveillance footage from the coffee shop was uploaded online–courtesy of Caden. It didn’t take long for netizens to identify the man in the video as Connor. Soon, his Twitter account was under siege, and Haroldene’s stock price plummeted.
I silently gave Caden a like. That’s my man–when he makes a move, it’s a killing blow.
What he did next was nothing short of brilliant.
While Haroldene’s stock was crashing, they ran into trouble with one of their biggest clients. A company proposal they submitted ended up causing massive losses for the client, and according to the contract, Connor was liable for ten times the damages.
Caden pulled some strings and tracked down the people responsible for leaking the proposal. After speaking with them one by one and reaching an understanding, Eclipse Group publicly posted a lawsuit on Twitter, accusing Haroldene Entertainment of intellectual property theft. Since Connor couldn’t afford the massive compensation, the client also decided to sue Haroldene.
By then, Haroldene’s board of directors was scrambling. They wanted to vote Connor out and bring in Jack to stabilize the situation.
That’s when Connor finally realized how bad things had gotten. He tried reaching out to the people who sold the proposal, only to find they’d already turned themselves in–and named him as the one who orchestrated it all.
Connor was brought in for questioning but was ‘released due to a lack of evidence.
That’s when Caden swooped in and bought up a large portion of Haroldene’s stock at a bargain price, then quickly cashed out. By the time Connor got out, Haroldene was on the brink of bankruptcy. With no other choice, Jack had to inject more funds into the company just to keep it afloat.
After that, Haroldene Entertainment was no longer in any shape to compete with me. They were forced to retreat and keep a low profile.
But just when I thought it was over, Juliet Lafferty returned to the country with an international award in hand. Haroldene used the opportunity to promote her success and managed to salvage their reputation. At the same time, a mysterious individual wired a significant sum of money into Connor’s private account. With the sudden influx of cash, he was able to push Haroldene forward again–and this time, they finally regained their footing.
The twists and turns of this business war were nothing short of fascinating.
Juliet, who had unknowingly gotten caught up in the whole mess, called me the day she landed back in the
country.
“I just saw the news. And sure enough, your call came right after. I’d say you’ve given Connor quite the gift with your return–he’s probably thrilled you got back just in time,” I said with a laugh, just imagining

Connor’s smug face. It was both ridiculous and pathetic.
“I think you’re overestimating him. That’s not Connor’s style, is it? Besides, I’m still with Haroldene Entertainment. When are you going to poach me, huh? I’m a bona fide international star now, aren’t I? Juliet’s voice held a note of playful frustration.
“Alright, alright. I’ll throw you a welcome–back dinner tonight, so stop giving me grief. By the way, how are things with Dayne?”
The moment I mentioned Dayne Arriaga, Juliet’s tone shifted, tinged with a quiet sadness. “It is what it is. I’ve moved on, more or less. I’ll hang up now. Just text me the time later
Back when Juliet was at the peak of her domestic carcer, she suddenly decided to leave for overseas. Most people assumed it was for better opportunities, but only a few of us knew the real reason–her heartbreak over Dayne. It looks like she’s finally moved past it now.
Still, I hope she doesn’t get too involved with Connor’s business. If she does, even our friendship might not survive it.
Caden’s POV:
“Mr. Holbrook, I found out the reason behind Ms. Crawford’s sudden outburst,” my beta said as he walked in, holding a folder of documents.
“Let’s hear it,” I replied coolly.
I had already sensed something was off when Wendy tried to seduce me again, but I’d been too busy at the time to deal with it properly. Now, though, I had all the time in the world to take care of this.
“After our investigation, it appears that Mr. Arriaga gave the orders.” My beta’s voice grew smaller as he got to the last few words, clearly nervous.
“Dayne? Are you sure about that?” I frowned. I had long heard rumors about the path Dayne had taken, but I never thought he’d come after me, especially considering our past and the complicated ties involving Juliet and Rosaline.
“Yes, Mr. Holbrook. That’s the intel we’ve confirmed, though I don’t know much beyond that.”
“Alright, I understand. You’re dismissed,” I said, then reached for my phone and dialed Richard.
“I knew it. Whenever you call, it’s never anything good,” Richard’s firm voice came through the speaker, carrying a sense of authority that was impossible to ignore. “Alright, I got it. Just make sure Rosaline’s taken care of.”
