“You promised!” I quickly snatched the soup from his hands and began eating it without hesitation.
In less than a minute, I had finished it all.
Caden sighed, helpless, and kept his word, leading me to Naomi’s ward.
As soon as we entered, the strong smell of disinfectant hit me. I saw Naomi lying in the bed.
I froze.
She was covered in wounds, not a single spot unscathed, with an oxygen tube in her nose, her eyes tightly shut, clearly still in a coma.
I covered my mouth, a wave of sadness washing over me.
I never expected Naomi to be this badly injured.

Caden had given in.
This time, I realized the consequences of overworking myself. If I collapsed, more people would take advantage of the situation.
So, agreeing to Caden was not just for him but also for me.
Once Caden left, I stayed behind to care for Naomi.
I took a sterilized towel from the doctor and gently wiped her down.
The sight of Naomi’s gruesome injuries broke my heart, so I made sure to be extra gentle while wiping her.
Once I finished, I leaned over the edge of Naomi’s bed, quietly watching over her.

Seeing Naomi still lying in the bed, I shook my head in confusion. But then, I felt someone standing next to me and turned to find it was Yvette.
“What’s wrong?” I rubbed my eyes and lifted my head slightly to ask.
“I just finished up with work and heard Naomi was found, so I came to look after her.” Yvette looked at the unconscious Naomi, her eyes reddening. “I had no idea she was this seriously injured. She’s been through a lot,”
I sighed. “How’s the company been lately?”
I’d been so focused on Naomi that I’d neglected the company.
Yvette wanted to speak but hesitated, looking uncomfortable. I frowned, sensing something was wrong.
