Chapter 5
The group of men stood dumbfounded:
“What do you mean? A young woman moved in here a month ago!”
“She looks like this!”
They showed my photo, but the neighbor shook his head.
“I’ve seen her–she’s the beautiful neighbor from the next building. Haven’t seen her since her
husband died. Are you friends of hers?”
Sensing something wrong, they urgently questioned the neighbor:
“What nonsense are you talking about? Her husband is perfectly alive! Did she pay you to act this
way?”
“Call her out now! Her husband has fully recovered, and today is their wedding day. If her
dramatics delay things, the ceremony will have to be postponed again!”
They shouted deliberately at the neighbor’s door.
Believing I was hiding inside, they boldly pushed their way into the neighbor’s apartment.
The neighbor tried to stop them but couldn’t.
“You people are something else! You don’t even know where your friend lives, and you didn’t check
on her after her husband died? Unbelievable!”
Ignoring the neighbor’s protests, they searched the entire place. Finding no trace of me, they called a
locksmith.
They assumed I was still hiding in the apartment Ethan had rented for me.
They complained bitterly to the neighbor:
“Never seen such a difficult woman. If it weren’t for Ethan, I’d have left ages ago!”
The neighbor defended me:

“Are you really her friends? I’m positive she never moved in. You should check her actual home–what if something happened to her?”
“Come to think of it, I haven’t seen her in quite a while.”
The neighbor squinted, suddenly slapping his forehead:
“The last time I saw her, she was disposing of wedding items. Poor thing after her husband died! Just looking at those albums and wedding photos, you could tell they were deeply in love. What a shame!‘
These men knew how much I treasured memories with Ethan.
Even the pull–tab from a soda can that he’d once playfully used as a ring, I’d preserved in an expensive box.
Hearing that I’d thrown away bags of couple items, they finally realized something was very wrong.
Just then, the locksmith arrived and quickly opened the door.
The group rushed in, only to discover no signs of habitation.
Everything remained exactly as they had arranged it with Ethan.
Even the lilies they’d put in the vase had withered and reeked.
The entire place smelled stale from lack of ventilation.
They exchanged glances, their faces turning pale.
Jackson, their leader, immediately called Ethan.
Already at the hotel inspecting the wedding venue, Ethan stared at his ringing phone and answered.
“Ethan, we have a problem…”
“Stop! This is my wedding day–only say auspicious things!”
Jackson was nearly in tears but finally blurted out:
“Ethan, Olivia never moved in here. Your neighbor says she threw out everything from your six years together–even your albums and wedding photos!”

“What? Impossible! Olivia said she bought a beachfront villa. She must have moved everything
there!”
“You should have told us earlier! We were worried for nothing. Send us the villa address, and we’ll
deliver the wedding dress to her.”
On the other end, Ethan suddenly froze.
He realized he had no idea where my supposed beachfront villa was located.
