Chapter 824 Home Arrest
Rosaline’s POV:
I sat in the room, bored, nibbling on my fingernail.

Outside the room, the house staff occasionally walked by, casting me cautious, borderline suspicious looks.
This wasn’t “bed rest for a healthy pregnancy.” It was straight–up imprisonment.
Thinking back to the way Caden had hesitated to speak that day, I started to put the pieces together.
He must’ve known I was pregnant. But why didn’t he say anything?
I rested my hand on my faint little bump. It’d only been a month–nothing noticeable yet.
I’d heard that the early stages of pregnancy required great care, but Richard’s approach was far too cautious -almost to the point of paranoia.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the rising frustration.
I didn’t have a single device on me. I had no way to reach the outside world at all.
I had no idea how Caden was doing, or what was happening with my business and my pack.
Grinding my teeth, I got up.
I hated feeling powerless.
As I stepped out of the bedroom, the staff nearby immediately paused what they were doing and stood in line like soldiers. One by one, they gave me a slight bow.
“Greetings, Mrs. Rosaline.”
I raised an eyebrow and glanced around. No sign of Richard. So I asked, “Where exactly am I?”
No one answered. They all dropped their gazes to the floor.
“I asked a question,” I said, voice low but sharp.
“We don’t know,” they all replied in unison.
That only pissed me off more. “So you drag me out here to some random place with no one around–and. what? Lock me up like some kind of criminal?”
“Please don’t take it out on us, Mrs. Rosaline,” one of them said. “We’re just here to help with the pregnancy. We really don’t know anything else.”,
They looked so nervous, glancing around like they were being watched.
And just like that, I got it.
There were cameras in this place, probably in every room. I wouldn’t be surprised if these housekeepers were reporting on each other too.
“Of course. That figures.”

Fuming, I stormed back to the room.

There wasn’t much I could do to them, but if I didn’t push back in some way, I really would be stuck here for the next 10 months.
After a moment’s thought, I dropped to the floor, grabbing my stomach and yelled, “My stomach hurts!”
One of the staff rushed in, alarmed. “Mrs. Rosaline, what’s wrong?”
I moved fast. I grabbed her by the arm and yanked her inside, then slammed the door shut and locked it.
“Mrs. Rosaline-” she gasped, eyes wide, but I quickly slapped a hand over her mouth.
“Don’t scream. Just tell me. Where are we?” I asked coldly, letting my Alpha energy pulse out, making it clear I wasn’t playing.
I hated doing this, but desperate times called for desperate measures.
Tears welled up in her eyes and she shook her head frantically.
“No? That’s how you wanna do this?” I narrowed my eyes and stepped back. Then I pulled a pen from my pocket and pointed the sharp end at my stomach. “Talk, or I swear-”
She broke down instantly. Her legs gave out and she collapsed right to the floor, sobbing so hard she could barely breathe.
“Please, don’t do it! The Alpha will kill me!”
She was trembling uncontrollably now, clearly unsure of how to deal with me.
I dropped the pen with a sigh. Damn it. Richard had these people so scared they wouldn’t even whisper the truth.
“Please, Mrs. Rosaline, you can’t keep doing this,” she said, standing up and gently taking the pen from my hand.
Then she looked up at the camera in the corner of the room and sighed, “You have to take care of yourself and your baby.”
Within seconds, someone outside unlocked the door and barged in. They searched the room, and even patted me down, taking away anything remotely sharp or dangerous.
Tlet out a helpless sigh and curled my lip–looked like every inch of this room was under surveillance as
well.
Richard had really gone to great lengths.
Dinner came not long after. I sat alone at the head of a long dining table in this giant empty house, surrounded only by staff standing silently by the walls, waiting for orders.
The dishes in front of me were all tailored for pregnancy health–nutritious, bland, and completely unappetizing.
But I forced myself to eat them anyway, I wasn’t about to risk the baby just to make a point.
But what surprised me was the appearance of a new face among the staff.

“Where’s Linda?” I asked one of the staff members beside me.
She was the one I’d pulled into my room earlier.

The rest of them dropped their heads and didn’t say a word.
I clenched my jaw. Clearly, Richard had found out about what happened and had her removed.
Furious, I shoved the utensils off the table and stormed back to my room.
I hated everything about this situation.
Being monitored. Being locked down. Being treated like some delicate package that couldn’t make a move without permission.
I decided it was time to act.
I walked over to the window, arms crossed, eyes scanning the property.
There were werewolf bodyguards posted outside, rotating shifts every three hours. But I’d noticed
something during the hand–off–just a small window, a few minutes at most, when no one was watching the dock.
And today, Richard had shown up himself–probably because of what happened with Linda.
There was a boat parked at the pier now.
Tonight would be my best chance to escape.
