Chapter 9
I gave Ethan a powerful slap.
My hand smacked his cheek so hard that my wrist went numb.
“Your girlfriend is in the next room,” I said, my voice low and angry, and my breathing heavy, “yet you still sneak over here to say such mean things? Don’t you care about anyone but yourself?
“You already messed up my first night,” I said, my voice getting louder and sharper, “and now you want to mess me up again? Do you think I’m still the same scared little girl you can just push around?”
His eyes turned stormy, his muscles tight under his shirt.
“Why are you acting all innocent, my wild little stepsister?” he said, moving closer and grabbing my wrist hard.
He pushed me against the wall and started to rip off my clothes.
However, he soon stopped.
A thin red line was wrapped around my back.
His fingers shook a little.
“W-what’s this?”
He saw more marks on my knees, purple ones that looked like they came from kneeling for too long.
I quickly grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around myself.
“What happened, Summer?” Ethan asked, his voice full of anger and surprise.
“Who did this to you?”
I tried to breathe normally. “That’s none of your business.”
“Was it… Zach Whitmore?”
He looked like he had been hit.
I did not say anything, but my silence told him everything.
Ethan’s face changed. The joking smile was gone, and his eyes narrowed like he was really seeing me for the first time.
“Why did you let him do this to you?
“I’m going to get that guy!” he said.
He was already dialing Zach’s number as he spoke.
“Ethan!” I wanted to stop him, but it was too late.
He put the phone on the loudspeaker.
One ring, two rings…
Zach answered, his voice as cool and distant as always. “Hello?”
Ethan was furious. “Did you marry my sister?”
The phone line went silent for just a moment.
Zach chuckled, teasing, “Your sister? What’s her name again?”

Ethan’s voice boomed through the phone, “Summer. Her name is Summer!”
“Oh, the smart, quiet girl.”
“You married her?!” Ethan asked, sounding shocked.
Zach’s laugh was icy. “Did she tell you? Yep, it’s true.
“She’s as amazing as you said, especially in bed.”
