Chapter 820 Rosaline’s Pregnant
I furrowed my brows. “Too much stress?”
The last few days had been chaotic. Sometimes it was Opaline causing trouble, other times it was Dayne stirring things up. It had all taken a toll on Rosaline.
Seeing her passed out on the couch filled me with worry.
The doctor said, “I’ve given Mrs. Rosaline a mild sedative but she still needs to be watched carefully. Sudden fainting isn’t something we can ignore. You should take her to the hospital for a thorough check–up tomorrow.”
But the next morning, Rosaline still hadn’t woken up. I shook her gently, then harder, but she didn’t move.
Fear gripped me. Without thinking twice, I picked her up and rushed to the top hospital in the city.
Before long, the nurses had taken her into an examination room, and I was left pacing outside, waiting anxiously.
“What’s going on?”
Just then, Grandpa arrived, having come as soon as he heard what had happened.
I explained quickly, “Rosie suddenly fainted last night. The doctor said it was from too much stress. She still wasn’t waking up this morning, so I brought her here right away.”
Grandpa’s face tightened. “Why so sudden? Wasn’t she fine during the wedding yesterday?”
I hesitated, biting my lip. I didn’t know how to explain it either.
Just then, the door opened and the werewolf doctor came out.
“How is she?” I asked at once, both of us stepping forward.
The doctor explained, “The tests show that the patient is under intense emotional stress, which likely points to anxiety. That’s especially tough for a pregnant woman.”
“Pregnant?”
Both Grandpa and I were stunned.
Rosaline is pregnant?
“Are you saying my wife is pregnant?” I asked, shocked.
The doctor stared at me, surprised. “You didn’t know? From how developed the baby is, she’s been pregnant for nearly a month.”
I stood there, stunned, struggling to accept the news.
“Is that true?” Grandpa asked again, and the doctor gave a slow nod.
“Yes, but … “The doctor hesitated, his face showing concern.
“But what?” I asked tensely,
Now Rosaline was carrying two lives. There could be no more accidents or setbacks.
The doctor shook his head. “Whatever happens, her emotional well–being needs careful attention these days. Stress can seriously affect the baby.”
“Doctor, what’s wrong?” Grandpa noticed the worry on the doctor’s face and asked.
The doctor said with a troubled look, “It’s just… I’m afraid this might be hard for you to accept. Our tests show that her emotions and physical condition are very unstable. Recently, she was poisoned by wolfsbane. That’s very dangerous for a fetus only a month old, so the baby could…
“Could what?” I almost lunged forward to grab the doctor’s collar, but Grandpa held me back.
The doctor shook nervously, avoiding my gaze.
“It’s okay, Doctor. Please just be honest with us,” Grandpa said calmly, feeling the seriousness of the moment and taking a steady breath.
“Right now, she is barely holding up. Trying to keep the baby growing might risk her life, even lead to death.”
His statement shocked me deeply.
“The choice to continue the pregnancy is yours alone. You have to make that decision.”
The doctor gave a sorrowful nod before heading back to check on Rosaline.
His warning “lead to death” kept ringing in my thoughts.
I slapped myself in frustration.
The baby and Rosaline.
Oh my God!
I sank down, overwhelmed with pain.
If only I had known she was pregnant, I would have made sure she rested these past few days and kept her from worrying so much.
Looking at the closed door of the examination room, I suddenly felt lost about how to face Rosaline.
“There’s no point dwelling on it now,” Grandpa said softly, laying a warm hand on my shoulder.
The truth was clear before us. Grandpa’s eyes filled with sorrow as he asked quietly, “Have you decided? Will you keep the child or not?”
I gazed at the ceiling, lost in thought. “Rosaline is my mate, the one I love most. How could I abandon her for a child I’ve never even met?”
My words upset Grandpa.
“What do you mean, a child you haven’t met? That’s your son, the future heir of our pack!”
I met Grandpa’s gaze, my voice rough. “Are you asking me to abandon Rosaline for someone we haven’t even met yet? She’s been so devoted to you.”
RESE
Grandpa closed his eyes, his expression heavy. “I don’t want to, but that child is my grandchild. I can’t just let the child go.”
“Then you’re willing to lose Rosaline?” I asked sharply.
Grandpa was silent for a moment, then sighed deeply. “Caden, you know that’s not what I’m saying.”
I stared at him firmly. “Alpha, whether it’s you or me, neither of us should decide Rosaline’s fate. We should wait for her to wake and let her choose.”
“Stop being so stubborn!” Grandpa’s worry was evident in his voice. “This child has to survive. He’s more than just your child, he carries our pack’s bloodline.”
I clenched my jaw tightly. “If Rosaline is gone, then what reason do I have to keep this child?”
