Chapter 818 Who Is the Child’s Father?
I told the doctor to do a safe kind of paternity test–completely harmless to the baby.
That way, even if Opaline tried to stir things up online, I had nothing to worry about.
It didn’t take long before the test result came out, clearly stating, “No biologically related.”
I had one of the werewolf warriors take the pale–faced Opaline back to her house. Then, I shared the paternity test results on Twitter.
The internet exploded within minutes.
For days, Opaline had been hinting at some deep, romantic connection between us, making all kinds of posts. But in the end, she couldn’t even say who the real father was.
It didn’t take long for people to see through her lies. She had orchestrated the entire situation herself.
Right after that, I uploaded a photo of her face the moment she saw me–wide–eyed, panicked, and definitely not in love. Someone left a comment under the photo, “Does this look like a woman seeing her lover?”
Opaline’s panicked, confused expression quickly turned into a viral meme.
The internet was buzzing with speculations.
“If it’s not Caden’s child, then whose child is it?”
“She doesn’t even know the father, and she still had the nerve to lie about Mr. Holbrook? Shameless.”
Maybe the pressure got to her because Opaline tried to fight back again. She made another post.
“This result shocked me too. But the man who took me into the hotel that night was Caden. I know myself. I’ve never been with anyone else. Only him.”
I was sitting beside Rosaline when I saw her latest post on Twitter. I couldn’t help but laugh, feeling both angry and amused.
Rosaline sighed, shaking her head. “She’s actually trying to pin the whole thing on us. She’s pitifully foolish.”
But this time, the public wasn’t on Opaline’s side anymore.
She kept playing the victim card, milking sympathy from the internet over and over again. But by now, people had stopped falling for it.
Seeing that her usual tricks weren’t working, Opaline somehow dug up hotel surveillance footage from that night, of herself with the werewolf, and posted it online.
“This is the footage from that night. If you don’t believe me, see for yourself. Even if Caden isn’t the father, he still did that thing to me that night. He needs to take responsibility!”
The post stirred up another wave of online uproar.
But it didn’t take long before people noticed something strange.
The footage was incredibly dark. You couldn’t even see the werewolf’s face, no matter how much you
to us rainer?
adjusted the lighting, it was still impossible to make out any clear features.
That made everyone start asking questions.
In her previous video, the werewolf had a similar build to mine, but again, the face wasn’t visible.
Finished
And now? Nobody was buying what she was selling. She’d fooled the internet once before. Now she was trying the same scheme again. But this time, nobody was falling for it.
People stormed her Twitter, throwing harsh words at her until Opaline couldn’t handle it anymore. She ended up deleting her account to escape the backlash.
“Caden, I believe it’s time I spoke with her,” Rosaline said, turning toward me.
I gave a small nod. “Yes, the truth needs to
Rosaline’s POV:
revealed.”
A faint smile appeared on my lips as I picked up my phone and dialed Opaline’s number.
“Who are you?” Opaline answered sharply.
“Is this Ms. Monte?” I responded without emotion.
She paused, clearly startled. “You … you’re Rosaline?”
“That’s right. There’s something you need to know. It’s about your child,” I said with a steady voice.
“How do you even know about that?” Her voice shook with doubt.
I spoke coldly, “I know everything. I wouldn’t be calling otherwise. But I’m warning you, don’t pull the same trick again. If you do, the Eclipse Pack won’t stay quiet.”
There was a long pause on her end, and after a moment, she finally agreed.
I gave her the location of a cafe and told her to meet me there.
“Want me to tag along?” Caden asked, pressing a soft kiss to my cheek.
I smiled gently and shook my head. “It’s alright. I need to do this by myself. She’ll see what I mean.”
I reached the cafe at the arranged time and spotted Opaline already seated at a corner table.
“Ms. Monte,” I said calmly as I approached.
She gave me a quiet nod, her face unreadable.
“I watched the video you posted on Twitter,” I said, not wasting time on small talk.
She replied quickly, “If you come to change my mind, don’t bother. The person with me that night really was Caden. I have no clue why the paternity test report turned out wrong.”
I studied her expression and gaye a small smile. “I understand you’re puzzled. But … what if the man you were with wasn’t actually Caden?”
She froze for a moment, her eyes narrowing. “What are you saying? I haven’t been with anyone else since
then…”
Who is ine Child’s Fainer?
The Finished
I explained carefully, “The man’s build does resemble Caden’s. But Ms. Monte, have you ever thought that the werewolf from the hotel might’ve been the same one you saw at that ice cream shop not long ago?”
Opaline looked at me with wide eyes, clearly, the thought had just hit her for the first time.
“You’re quite sharp, Ms. Sinclair,” she said slowly, a note of admiration in her voice. “He’s the one who convinced me the child belonged to Caden. He was kind to me. I believed everything he said. I never once questioned him.”
Her face showed nothing but helplessness.
I nodded slightly.
At last, this naive woman had come to see that Dayne had been playing her from the very beginning.
“I’m glad you understand. Honestly, he tricked a friend of mine, too.”
“I see,” Opaline murmured, placing a gentle hand on her stomach.
“Look after yourself,” I told her softly before turning to leave.
What came next was her choice to make.
