Chapter 33
I was nestled in his arms, looking a bit dazed. Jack looked down, only able to see my smooth forehead, with damp hair falling between us, the moisture spreading and making my clothes slightly see-through. His throat tightened. He gently released me. “The clothes are new and unworn; you can make do with the shoes for a day.”
I noticed the clothes he had left by the entrance and blushed, “Thanks.”
Jack, seeing my unguarded expression, couldn’t help but lecture, “Don’t open the door at night.”
“Because I know it’s definitely you knocking,” I said, my gaze steady.
Jack met my eyes and quickly looked away, awkwardly adding, “Lock the door.”
I stood at the doorway, a slight smile on my lips as I glanced back at the unfamiliar room; I was ready to start a new chapter in my life.
While charging my phone in bed, I discovered dozens of missed calls, almost all from Noah. There was also a call from Luke, but it only rang three times before hanging up. I saw messages from Noah:”Alice, where are you? Don’t be angry, come home, I’ll make Luke apologize!”
“You should know that in New York, you can’t hide for long. If Ethan finds out, the consequences will be dire.’
“Alice, we’re family! Can’t we forgive small conflicts?”
Reading these messages, my expression turned icy. There was no way I could forgive even a little.
The next day at school, I took a taxi with Jack.
I turned to him, “I’ll head to class first.”
Jack watched me safely enter the school before looking away. A luxury car pulled up beside us, and Andrew leaned out, “The Welch family went crazy looking for you last night. Alice wouldn’t have escaped if she hadn’t run into us.” The Welch family wasn’t to be underestimated. Jack pursed his lips, seemingly deep in thought.
Meanwhile, I headed straight to the classroom. and screams erupted. “Alice’s here! She’s the one who did the
twelve-hit combo!”
“What’s her connection to King?!”
“Idol, can we take photos together?”
I was taken aback by the crowd and awkwardly nodded, “Sure.”
Suddenly, a bunch of people surrounded me, asking for autographs. The classroom entrance was bustling with excitement, packed with people.
Chloe had just arrived outside the classroom and, seeing me being treated like a star, felt a surge of jealousy. She had over a hundred thousand fans online, far more famous than me; these clueless people!
Unable to stand it, Chloe stepped out.”Alice, where were you last night? Noah was worried sick. You shouldn’t risk your safety just because you’re angry.”
I knew the act was coming.

A minion said, “She’s ungrateful! She thinks she’s superior after winning.”
Another added, “I bet Alice is dating the school doctor and living together. She’s just a kid, already trying to
seduce men.”
I raised an eyebrow.”No wonder people say you two are foul-mouthed.”
Chloe, noticing something, quickly said, “Alice, you don’t know how envious I am that your family cares so much. And yet, you’re being so willful; it’s really not right.”
“Do I know you? Stop with the act. No one cares. Isn’t it exhausting?”
Men
“Alice, how dare you speak to Chloe like that! She worried about you all night! You were in the wrong, and others can’t say anything?” My sixth brother, Luke, approached with a complex expression. He didn’t have to drop Chloe off at school today, but he felt compelled to come, knowing I would be here.
He hadn’t slept a wink last night. I had forced him into isolation; what was that about?
I, seeing Luke, wasn’t surprised.”Isn’t Chloe often out all night with you guys?”
Chloe’s eyes welled up.”Alice, how can you say that?”
“Alice, don’t talk nonsense, Chloe is my sister! Apologize to her!”
My tone was cold.”She started it. I learned it from her.”
Chloe’s voice was choked with tears.”I… I didn’t mean it, you misunderstood.”
Luke, who had been holding back his temper, suddenly lost control, “Alice, look at yourself! Were you with that doctor last night? It’s obvious!”
I, who had been holding back his temper, suddenly lost control.
After Luke spoke, he immediately regretted it, but with so many people watching, he didn’t explain.
I found it laughable, “That has nothing to do with you.” I turned and walked toward the classroom.
“Stop! What do you mean it has nothing to do with us? Your wings are getting too strong; you think you’re something special just because you won a revival match”
I sneered, not bothering to look back.
I sat down, completely ignoring the commotion outside.
Luke watched my distant demeanor, a fire burning in his chest. But he didn’t dare overstep, especially since he was still in isolation and shouldn’t even be at school.
Chloe seeing this, feigned innocence, “Luke, I shouldn’t have asked Alice; she’s angry. But I was worried she’d do something reckless.”
“I know. You care for her, but she doesn’t appreciate it.”
Luke was irritated.”Alice’s attitude is terrible; she doesn’t care about anyone’s feelings. It’s like she’s a different person. What does she want us to do to make her happy?”
A hint of mockery flashed in Chloe’s eyes; I had already started distancing myself, and he was just now realizing it?
Chapter 33
Mersu
This was a good thing for her. She changed the subject, “What are you planning to do about that school doctor?”
“Of course, that man has to pay the price!”
Luke headed straight to the principal’s office, this matter needed to be addressed.
After achieving her goal, Chloe returned to the classroom. As she passed me, she whispered, “Luke went to the principal.”
My expression changed; I had indeed brought trouble to Jack. I stood up, but just then, the English teacher started class, and I had to sit back down.
During the lesson, I was somewhat distracted. Finally, when the class ended, I stepped out to call Jack, feeling a bit anxious. He answered calmly.”What’s wrong?”
“Luke went to the principal. You might be in trouble, but don’t worry, I’ll explain.”
“Kid, don’t meddle in adult matters!” His voice was confident, almost arrogant. I almost thought I misheard him; usually, this man was quiet and aloof, very reserved. Yet, for some reason, I found myself believing him.
After hanging up, I returned to my seat, feeling reassured as I reviewed my notes. With just over a month until the college entrance exams, I was almost free.
After school, I packed my bag, intending to head to the infirmary. However, I spotted my second brother, Noah, at the classroom door, holding a giant stuffed bear.
I halted in my
tracks.
Noah approached.”Alice, you performed brilliantly in the revival match. I got you a gift. Congratulations, and good luck in the finals.”
Finals?
