Chapter 29
My attack was devastating; I took down two opponents directly, leaving one severely injured. After landing, I glanced at the bloodied Luke on the ground.
Luke was fixated on the game screen, shock and disbelief washing over him in waves! He knew I was talented, but he never expected me to be this strong! Wait a minute, I wasn’t this good before-when did I level up?
The moment he got caught, he realized they were going to lose this match. But then I showed up, using my agile movements and sharp instincts to stabilize the situation. I even turned the tide, pulling off the legendary King’s ultimate move-twelve consecutive strikes!
Luke felt like he’d never really known his sister. I’d become a stranger. Suddenly, he felt a pang of anxiety, an irrational fear of losing me.
Luke hesitated, then spoke, “You…”
But I brushed past him, speaking into my headset, “Report your positions. I’ll be there soon.
Luke was left standing there, watching my confident gaming silhouette. He couldn’t help but turn his head to sneak a glance at me, but I was completely focused on the screen, my concentration captivating.
Noah chimed in,”Luke, what are you zoning out for?”
Luke snapped back to reality, rushing to catch up. He saw me leading the team, my movements smooth and precise. This was the artillery player he’d always wanted! In the end, it was me who did it.
Luke’s feelings were a jumbled mess. The competition he valued most was won because of me, the sister he’d always underestimated! He had never felt such a stark contrast before.
The match wrapped up quickly. I, as the artillery player, stood triumphantly in the ruins, bathed in the setting sun, basking in victory!
The host paused for a moment and announced, “The winner is the Landing Team! Their substitute player was incredible! I wonder if she’s a disciple of the legendary King!”
The crowd roared, chanting King’s name.
Upon hearing that name, I fell into a daze; it was that person who had taught me the twelve strikes in my past life. I had questioned their connections, but he had never confirmed it. I had never even seen him. But the legendary King had always remained anonymous; no one knew what he looked like.
I took off my headset, and as I stood up, the cheers of victory filled my ears. I smiled, finally able to make that disrespectful person apologize to our parents publicly!
Noah was the first to reach me, beaming, “Alice, you were amazing! Your efforts won this match. I knew you were secretly practicing, even though you refused to join the team, right?” He was overjoyed; I hadn’t changed. We were still a family.
But as I heard those words, my smile faded. It felt a bit disappointing.
I looked at the captain of the Mount Team.”You lost!”
The opponent looked at me with a complex expression, “Who are you on earth?”

Noah said proudly, “She’s my sister.”
“But wasn’t the Welch family’s daughter the one with terrible skills? When did you get a new sister?”
Noah’s expression stiffened.”That was our adopted sister. She’s our real sister.”
“You guys are clever. You used a weak adopted sister as a decoy, hiding your real sister. You caught us off guard.”
Luke’s face paled. He hadn’t expected me to be this amazing!
The Mount captain approached me.”But I admit defeat. You’re incredible.” The twelve-hit combo was legendary; no one had mastered it since King’s retirement. I was the first.
My tone was flat. “You need to keep your promise.”
“Alright, I said some inappropriate things during the match about your parents. That was my fault; I shouldn’t have said that. I’m sorry!”
I nodded.”Watch your mouth.”
Luke interjected, “Is that all it takes?”
I looked at him, surprised.
The Mount captain sneered. “What’s it to you? The one who beat us is your sister! If you lack skill, just shut up!”
As tensions rose, Noah quickly pressed down on Luke to avoid trouble. The match ended, and the crowd dispersed.
I went backstage and immediately spotted Chloe, her face streaked with tears and her eyes red. The atmosphere was awkward.
Chloe looked up, her eyes filled with tears, looking pitifully vulnerable. Anyone who saw her like this would feel a twinge of sympathy.
But my eyes were cold; I knew Chloe was just putting on an act, a tactic she had used countless times since
childhood.
Chloe weakly called out, “Luke, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have left the match.” She’d been embarrassed, thinking Luke would comfort her. But I had stepped in and won brilliantly. She needed to salvage her image.
Luke frowned.”You finally decided to come back? If it weren’t for Alice, what would you have done in this
match?”
Chloe, feeling wronged, started to cry, “It’s all my fault! I shouldn’t have let a few harsh words get to me. I was just so afraid of failing that I did something so foolish. I promise it won’t happen again.”
When Chloe started crying, the other team members quickly chimed in,”Captain, she’s already apologized, so why hold a grudge?””Yeah, Captain, we won the match anyway. If Chloe hadn’t dropped out, the substitutes wouldn’t have even had a chance to play. How would we have won this game?”
Luke felt that familiar sense of helplessness creeping back in.

Noah turned to me.”What do you think?”
I was taken aback that Noah would ask my opinion. I replied, “I agree. Since Chloe apologized, what more do you want? Luke, you’re being too petty. Chloe’s grades dropped because of the competition. You should appreciate her efforts.”
Chloe clenched her teeth nearby, fully aware that I was deliberately trying to stir up trouble between her and Luke!
When did this woman become so difficult to deal with?
Luke felt a pang of anger. This was a complete reversal of the truth! Chloe was the one who messed up, and he couldn’t even say a word without being made to look like the bad guy?
He said angrily,”Alice, are you doing this on purpose?”
I smiled inwardly. Yes, I was. I’d been treated this way countless times. Luke, you’ve only been treated this way once, and you can’t handle it?
I turned to leave, but Noah stopped me.”Alice, I officially invite you to join the team! From now on, we’ll face everything together as a family, and all past grievances are forgotten!”
My smile turned even colder.
