I had thought it was just a mild stomach bug, but days passed, and nothing got better.

Whether sweet or salty, the moment I took a bite, I ended up vomiting it all.

Elena rushed over, her face pale with worry as though something had truly frightened her.

“Belle, no matter what kind of illness this is, we’ll get the best doctors to treat it. Don’t be

scared…”

Tears welled in my eyes as I clutched her hand. “I’ve made you worry, I, ugh—”

Before I could finish, I threw up three times into the trash can beside me.

Leaning weakly against the sofa, I tried to reassure her. “Don’t worry. I even gained a little weight recently. It’s probably nothing serious.”

“That’s not exactly what has me worried.”

Elena looked at me with a strange expression. “Belle, have you thought maybe you’re pregnant?”

“Huh?”

Marcus and I locked eyes, both stunned by the thought.

He immediately scooped me into his arms and strode down the stairs without hesitation.

Elena stood up, alarmed. “You brat, what are you doing?!”

Without so much as turning back, Marcus shouted, “Obviously, taking my wife to the hospital!”

Based on my symptoms, the doctor’s preliminary diagnosis was pregnancy.

“But we still need to run a check-up to confirm,” the doctor added.

Marcus carefully supported me as we walked out, his eyes brimming with the joy of a soon-to-be father.

Even while waiting for the results, he kept his hand gently over my belly.

“Belle, she’s greeting me!”

I couldn’t help but laugh. “She’s just a little embryo.”

Compared to Marcus, I remained much calmer.

Lowering my gaze, I softly placed my palm against my lower abdomen. There, a tiny life was quietly growing.

Unlike last time, this child had been conceived in love and anticipation.

It would be welcomed into the world with blessings.

The test results soon arrived, and I was indeed pregnant.

However, due to my recent emotional and physical exhaustion, the baby wasn’t very stable.

The doctor’s tone turned serious. “The mother needs to rest, eat well, and sleep properly. It’s best

to stay in the hospital for now to ensure a healthy pregnancy.”

Following his advice, I packed a few personal items and checked into a private room.

Marcus had gone out briefly and returned carrying a large bag of things.

“Wife, I bought the books and art magazines you like. You can read them when you’re bored.”

My heart softened, and as if sensing my emotions, the baby in my belly settled down quietly. Time passed quickly, and the baby gradually stabilized.

I stopped throwing up constantly and could finally enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.

That night, Marcus stared at his phone, eyes dark and brooding.

Message after message kept popping up.

Miguel: Belle, I stood up for you. Will you at least talk to me?

Miguel: I ignored your pain before. Only today did I realize how much you suffered at the Pearson house. I’m sorry.

Miguel: Whatever punishment you want for her, I’ll help you. Just reply to me. Please.

Marcus clenched his jaw and let out a cold snort.

He calmly typed a reply, then returned to the room and pulled me into his arms as we drifted of to sleep.

Belle: Currently undergoing prenatal checkups at the hospital. Do not disturb.
