Chapter 799 The Final Hesitation

Jack’s POV

Right after I hung up, I fold finance to transfer a huge sum into Barnabasaccount

It was 150 million dollarsa sum equal to two yearsworth of Rampage Pack’s total profits

As the money moved, my heart hammered in my chest

That kind of cash couldn’t risk a single mistake

A few days later, Barnabas called again, saying the project was stuck and needed more funding

I’d already poured in 150 million. Even with my doubts, I had no choice but to trust him and wire over tens of millions more

Then three days later, Barnabas called back, but this time his voice was full of excitement

Mr. Horton, I’ve got great news! The project finally succeeded and is ready to launch

Hope surged inside me. I asked, barely holding back, Really? So this means the project’s about to roll out across the entire Werewolf Continent?”

After all the money I’d put in, I was finally ready to see some returns

Yeah, butBarnabas paused, shifting to a reluctant tone. It’s going to take some time before the official launch. We have to keep supporting it in the meantime, and that comes with a hefty cost.”

That line hit me like a knew more money was coming

–

I snapped, Mr. Kingsley, you run several multinational companies. Your firms should have enough funds for this. I’m the one pouring in all the cash, but I don’t see your side carrying any weight just yet.”

Barnabas tried to justify, Since the project was created by our company, we’re the ones who know where the money’s needed.”

But that excuse was nothing but a dodge. In that moment, I realized something was seriously off

I leaned in, voice firm and steady despite my racing heart. Where exactly did all that money go?”

This had to be legitthere was no way Rampage Pack could afford to get played like this

Barnabas hesitated for a moment before answering, It went straight into the project’s development.”

I pressed on. So the project hasn’t launched yet. Does that mean the funds are still intact?”

A sly smile crossed his face. If you wish to pull out now, we’ll have to find someone else to build it. But with profits this huge, you might miss out on serious cash.”

His words hit me hard, forcing me to think it over

If the project was real, walking away now meant throwing hundreds of millions down the drain

But throwing more money into something I hadn’t seen felt like pouring cash into an endless pit

Chapter 799 The Final Hesitation

From day one, I hadn’t caught a glimpse of any real progress. I couldn’t tell if Barnabas promises massive returns were real or just smoke and mirrors

Business was a cutthroat gamesomeone wins, someone loses. If this project failed after I sank all that money in, the fallout would be catastrophic

This was a gamble I wasn’t willing to make anymore

Mr. Horton?Barnabas nudged again when I stayed silent

I made my decision and shook my head. I think we need to cancel this deal. The funding demands are too high. I’d stick with you if things were different, but as things standSorry

Alright. I hope you won’t regret this,” he said, his acceptance almost too easy

What shocked me even more was that, not long after, Barnabas returned the original funds to my company

That kind of money couldn’t come out of a project easily. I knew right away this had to be his own cash

Seeing the transfer and recalling his words at the Starplay front desk made me pause

Could Barnabas really be a heavyweight player

If the project hadn’t even started, then all that development had been financed by him personally

What was he really up to

Those questions spun in my mind, and for the first time, I doubted my own judgmentmaybe Barnabas wasn’t trying to scam me after all

Caden’s POV

Barnabas stepped into the office, his shoulders heavy and frustration etched across his face. Mr. Holbrook.”

The moment I saw him, I knew something had gone sideways

It didn’t work out?I asked, cutting straight to the point

He nodded, slow and resigned. Yeah. He took all the money back. I handed it over just like it wasdidn’t want to set off any alarms.”

I nodded, understanding. You can’t blame him. Jack’s always been careful. He’d never risk doing anything that doesn’t benefit him.”

Honestly, I saw this coming. Jack’s nature made it inevitable

Barnabas let out a sigh, regret creeping into his voice. It’s a shame to lose that cash. If we’d gotten the full amount, Jack would’ve been finished.”

I let a small smile tug at my lips and shrugged. No worries. Plan A might’ve failed, but I’ve got other moves. We might’ve failed to reel it in today, but we’ll get our catch someday.”
