Chapter 798 Matryoshka
“Mr. Horton, I think you’re a once–in–a–century talent. It’s an honor to meet you,” Barnabas said, showering me with praise right off the bat..
Something felt off, so I studied him carefully, scanning his face and stance. He seemed familiar, but I couldn’t place from where.
Noticing my guarded expression, Barnabas smiled and said, “Mr. Horton, there’s no need for tension. I’m sure you did your research on me, just like I did on you. I wouldn’t have stepped forward unless I was certain you’re the right partner.”
I smiled back. “Oh, of course. I just thought you’re quite a striking man, so I wanted to get a better look.
Barnabas wasn’t dumb; he dropped the topic with a nod. “Alright then, here’s to a successful collaboration.”
Though I had reservations, his offer was too tempting–and backed by several multinational corporations. from Fostrau. After weighing it carefully, I agreed and transferred part of my funds to Barnabas.
Caden’s POV:
“As you predicted, Mr. Holbrook, Jack remains cautious, but he’s signed part of the contract, Barnabas reported respectfully.
I sipped my wine and nodded, telling Barnabas to take a break.
Thanks to the tiny camera hidden in Barnabas’s shirt button, I’d seen every moment of his meeting with Jack. The Rampage Pack heir was clearly careful and guarded.
Gaining the trust of someone that wary would take time.
I pulled out my phone and updated–Rosaline.
She chuckled. “He might be a paranoid man, but with a little push from me, he’ll fully buy what Barnabas is selling.”
Rosaline’s POV:
The next day, under my orders, Starplay launched a full assault on Rampage Pack.
Jack’s companies were already shaky, and the attacks pushed them to the edge.
Jack couldn’t hold it in. He stormed into Starplay to confront me.
But I had Barnabas planted at our front desk, waiting for the fish to take the bait. Caden and I watched everything on the security feeds.
When Jack arrived, I signaled Barnabas to fake a phone call.
“Working with a client like you would be an honor, Mr. Hoffington. I’m looking forward to your reply,” Barnabas said, loud enough for Jack to hear.
Jack froze in place, ears twitching.
I nudged Caden. “See? He’s biting the bait.”

Barnabas turned his back and continued, reciting the carefully relicarsed lines I’d given him. I’m just waiting on one last person to come around. Their company’s great, but they’re hesitant about the project
Credit where it’s due–Caden managed to teach Barnabas how to act like an actual CEO
Meanwhile, the receptionist at the front desk gasped, covering her mouth and widening her eyes. Mr. Kingsley, is someone really turning down the chance to work with you? They’d be missing out on a lot of money.”
Jack spun around and walked off the moment he heard that.
The fish had taken the bait.
With Starplay laying the groundwork and Barnabas putting on such a flawless act, Jack was bound to trust him completely this time.
“Just wait–Jack’s going to call any minute now,” I said, flashing a grin at Caden
Before I could finish, Barnabas‘ phone rang. He snatched it up and headed straight for my office.
Caden gave a quick nod as Barnabas flipped on the speaker. “Hey, Mr. Horton. What’s going on?” Jack’s voice was tense and eager on the other end. “I’ve thought it through. I’m convinced you’re a dependable partner. Perhaps you should start working out the details of that partnership, Mr. Kingsley.”
“A man of your word, Mr. Horton, just like I expected. I’ve been waiting for that,” Barnabas said smoothly. “Right now, our company’s resources are still tied up in cash flow, but don’t worry. Once everything’s moving, I’ll return eighty percent of your investment. You’re only responsible for twenty percent.”
Jack hesitated, but Barnabas kept the pressure on without missing a beat. “I’m confident this project will bring in way more than that. Once it takes off, we split the profits fifty–fifty. What do you think?”
Jack’s interest was clear. After a long breath, he finally said, “Okay, I’m in.”
