Chapter 789 An Intense First Meeting
Rosaline’s POV:
Elliot came into my office with a file in hand and casually plopped down on a couch.
He pointed at the file and said, “This is what you promised me–my reward. Plus the cost for finding this info and getting the hospital documents. You’ll cover it all, right?”
As he spoke, he crossed one leg over the other, looking like a total punk. “If Yvette hadn’t bribed me, I wouldn’t have helped you take down Evelyn.”
“Fine.” I gave a faint smile, pulled out a check, and filled in the numbers from the file. Then I handed it to Elliot. “Take this to the finance department. They’ll reimburse you.”
“Now we’re talking.” Elliot snatched the check and left without another word.
I watched his slouched figure walk away and shook my head.
Winning against Evelyn in court–Elliot really did help a lot. But he was not someone I’d ever use again.
The way he acts just proves the arts scene I once admired wasn’t full of talent. There were jerks like him in it, too.
But after my case with Evelyn, the arts community in Rivemon finally started to take character into account. Led by Andrew, they did a big cleanup. Elliot, with no new work in years and already older, was kicked out.
That lifted my mood a little.
The next day, I arranged to meet Dayne.
I purposely dressed low–key and put on sunglasses.
Ever since the last scandal with Caden broke, I realized how ruthless paparazzi could be. I had to disguise myself to avoid being caught again.
I arrived at the meeting spot. After a while, Dayne finally showed up.
I frowned–I couldn’t stand people who were late.
But Dayne looked unbothered. He waved at me, walked straight over, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
“Ms. Rosaline, calling me out at this hour… Did you miss me?” He raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying himself. His hand even reached out to hook my chin, but I slapped it away.
“Don’t touch me,” I said coldly.
Freya snapped, “Do you want me to bite his hand off? Alpha, this idiot’s too rude,”
I held back a laugh and told Freya to calm down. I called this man here for a reason.
“Don’t be so mean. I know you missed me. Look–I came right away,” Dayne said with a greasy grin.
“I asked you here for something serious. So drop the attitude,” I said sternly.
“Alright. I know, pretty girls get shy saying what they really mean. I won’t make it harder for you,” he replied,

My expression darkened as I released a bit of Alpha pressure. “If you keep acting like this, don’t blame me for being rude.”
“Oh? Angry now?” Dayne felt the shift in my aura, and his face changed. He instinctively leaned back, but continued to talk. “Tsk, what a waste. So pretty, yet so hot–tempered.”
The next second, I stomped hard on his foot.
“You–Ouch! What the hell, why are you so strong?!” he cried out in pain.
I stared him down and pressed harder. “Watch your mouth!”
Dayne yanked his foot back and glared at me. “Aren’t I talking just fine? What, I can’t call you a pretty lady?”
Seeing he still hadn’t learned a thing, I let out a quiet sigh, shot him a cold glance, then turned and walked
away.
When I got back to the company, I saw Juliet standing at the front entrance. Her face was pale.
“What happened? Your eyes are all red.” I walked over, took her hand, and led her into my office.
She’d clearly been crying. I handed her a tissue. After wiping her tears, she finally spoke, “Rosaline, I’m sorry. I found out what my parents did the other day. It was all Whirlwind Pack’s fault. I’m here to apologize.”
She stood up and gave me a deep, respectful bow.
I walked over and helped her up. “It’s in the past. There’s no need for it. I don’t blame you.”
Her eyes lit up. “Really?”
She sniffled. “What my parents did was unforgivable. I’ve already told them off. It’s just…
I cut in. “It’s alright. Just tell me, and I’ll help you sort it out.”
As far as I was concerned, she was innocent. The whole thing had nothing to do with her.
“Okay.” Juliet gave a quiet nod. “I fought with my parents. I’ve cut ties with them now.”
I couldn’t help feeling moved. She really was a true friend–breaking with her parents for me.
“If you still blame me, I’ll just have to accept it.”
“I don’t blame you.” I patted her shoulder gently. “You didn’t know what was happening. It wasn’t your fault. No one wanted things to end up like this.”
Juliet’s eyes trembled. She looked up at me. “You really don’t blame me?”
“Silly girl.” I smiled softly, smoothing her shoulder. “You broke with Whirlwind Pack for my company. How could I blame you for anything?”
“Thank you… “A genuine smile finally returned to her face.
“But now’s not the time to dwell on this. You’ve had a falling–out with your family, and it looks like you’ve

“Okay. Thank you, Rosaline.” Juliet hugged me tightly.
